The two best voices in country music! Beauty and pure GOD given talent. No smoke or glitter, no fancy dresses, just stand there and sing! What more can you ask for? Beautiful harmony. I salute you both Connie and Reba!!!
Very impressive!! Never thought much of Reba's singing until this video!! Connie; along with Tammy Wynette are/were the best true female vocals in Country Music.
This is FREAKIN AWESOME! Thanks for sharing. I couldn't imagine two better singers performing this than these two. They both are fantastic but Reba Rocks!!!!
This is so great! I've been a Reba fan since the early '80's. I've loved Connie Smith for a long, long time. Too bad Reba didn't include true country artists like Connie on her duet album.
I happened to be on the same flight with Reba back around 1979 or 1980 flying into LAX. This was before she got famous. We spoke briefly while we were both waiting to be picked up .She was very friendly, told me she was a singer. At the time I had no idea who she was. I can still see her sitting on her stack of suitcases waiting to be picked up. Silly me, I did not even take a picture. A scene that would never happen again because she became popular soon after. I'm sure she is still very nice and friendly to anyone that she meets. It was a nice experience .
@bluegibby7 Technically, Tammy is known as "The First lady of Country Music". Ladies such as Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Barbara Mandrell have held the title of Queen at some point or another, but Reba has held that title for over 2 decades now. She will continue to hold onto that title until some other lady comes along who is as great, talented, giving, and humble as she is, and who is not afraid to break down barriers for future country acts.
No doubt any/all of humanity is subject to environmental influence. We that grew up with Connie; Tammy, Loretta, Kitty, etc., will always feel they were the best. Each generation feels singers of their generation are the best. Today, there are no doubt many people who feel Taylor is best ever. ONE THING FOR SURE; THIS IS A GREAT POST.
I have always loved Reba. From her singing, to her acting, to her strength. There are 2 women I would love to meet in my lifetime and she is 1 the other is Betty White. Yeah, I know Betty White isn't a singer, but she is my all time favorite actress. At 92 years old and still going strong. I don't think I will ever get to meet either, but if I did I would be speechless. I only have see Reba from up on a ferris wheel and heard her sing when she was performing in Vermont at the fair. But getting within arms length one on one would be CRAZY!!!
@YoungAtHeart1941 A lot of people lump Reba in with some of the lesser , newer country talents but that's not really fair . She can really sing ! I have her Oklahoma Girl cd ( actually have at least 10 ) and there are tracks where she can really sing the blues as well as country- equally well. She's pretty versatile and stays pretty true to her roots. New fan of Connie SMith and she is one of the best I ever heard -ever !
i won't lie and say i know all about country music b/c i don't but i know my reba history and facts very well and know for fact she is known as the queen of country music!
Reba owes a debt to Connie Smith! Connie Smith set the standard (next to Patsy Cline) that will never be equalled among female vocalists. They're great together and I wish Reba would record music like this instead of the bubblegum "Pop" she sings.
Reba has always praised those who paved the way for her. Sad fact is that "country" doesn't sell well, Reba does include more traditional songs on her cds but they are rarely released as singles. "I'm gonna take that mountain" wasn't pop, it also wasn't a no1 hit. Reba has many songs that aren't pop but country radio loves pop. The Duets cd has some great country songs on it, not one pop tune in the bunch.
She may be the best selling female country artist because she had her foundations in Country Music but her music is NOT country and there is no difference between her and the other artists of today that don't really sing country. There used to be....if you listen to her recordings when she began until 1987 she was as country as ducks sitting on a window sill. Then she sold out and compromised to do bubblegum pop. Long live Reba the QUEEN of Bubblegum!!
Did you get your information directly from the CMA ? I don't agree with you OR the fact that Roy & Kitty were chosen for the titles. There are others much more deserving of them. Personally, I think the fans should choose, as they did for their favorites at the Music City News awards years ago. I don't think the industry execs should choose as it is currently done. If I had my way, the awards would go to either Marty Robbins & Patsy Cline, or Eddy Arnold & Connie Smith
Great tribute to a great man by two great ladies. BTW: The Queen Of Country Music is Kitty Wells, not Reba. The King of Country Music is Roy Acuff. They were given those titles about 40 years ago.
Kitty and Roy who? LOL I suppose the king of England is still Henry the Eigth too. Once a performer ceases to perform the crown passes to the next in line. George Strait is the current King and Reba the current Queen as both are still recording and performing at the top of their game.
I Agree!! Having heard many of the new kids on the block I'm wondering what exactly is country about these girls songs. Put them beside Dolly, Lorretta or Reba and they just sound like any modern pop singer. It's the delivery that makes me think country not the actual song. This was never clearer than when Reba redid Kellys BOY, both versions were lovely but Rebas delivery added a depth the pop version didn't have.
2 Of the Best Voices In Music Period, Reba Is Awsome When she Sings Country, She Just Got A Little To Pop Sounding In later Years,And I understand She Is Only Keeping up with What Sales ,But Personally I Think She was Much Better Without all the Flair
Tammy, Dolly, Reba, Loretta, Connie, Dottie West and anyone else you can name might never have become the huge stars they are if not for Patsy Cline who paved the way for everyone who followed her. Before Patsy about the only women who got any exposure was Kitty Wells and maybe Rose Lee Maphis or Patsy Montana. Maybelle Carter was a pioneer but she was way before the Opry became main stream.
She hasn't been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame yet, no. She has, however, been inducted into the Radio Broadcasting Hall of Fame. She's still selling millions of records and competing with today's supposed country females, so I think it'll happen once her career actually winds down, which, hopefully, is never!!
thats an ignorant comment because she isnt the best selling female country artist for nothing you know..not only that but she has and does sing country songs...shes not like all the other artists today that really dont sing country
Those that really know their country music know that there is only one certifiable Queen and that is Kitty Wells. Reba may be the QUeen of "Bubblegum" but she sure is NOT ANY QUEEN of Country Music because that is not what she sings.
Reba doesn't include true country artists like Connie on her albums because Reba's music is NOT country. She was ONCE but she sold out and this video is a beautiful reminder of what she was once and what Connie smith still is! Reba...take some lessons from Kitty Wells...the undisputed queen of country music!!
wow you really have no clue then about her music or you just haven't really listened to it because its more country than almost any country artist thats made records and THAT is why she the best selling female country artist..not because of her "foundations"!
Reba's the best thing to EVER happen to COUNTRY MUSIC.............PERIOD!!!!
Fabulous. Love them both. Two great singers. Thanks. Love all Marty Robbin's songs. Nilani.
The best two female singers in any genre.
The two best voices in country music! Beauty and pure GOD given talent. No smoke or glitter, no fancy dresses, just stand there and sing! What more can you ask for? Beautiful harmony. I salute you both Connie and Reba!!!
You got more talent standing on that 6 foot circle than all of Nashville has had in a good 20 years. And ten thousand times whats there now!
Music is food for the Soul ,,,,,,,,,,,has the healing power not news
Reba and Connie are incredible together ❤
Connie is pure class and pure country!
Lovely Connie Smith, the lady can do gymnastics with her voice. OOHHHHHHHH MY GOODNESS.
The best two female singers in any genre. Love them both and they are very nice ladies..
Awesome ladies ❤❤❤❤
Very impressive!! Never thought much of Reba's singing until this video!! Connie; along with Tammy Wynette are/were the best true female vocals in Country Music.
I saw Connie at the Opry 2 years ago -- she's still great! And there's just no one like Reba.
My 2,favorites together, awesome.
WOW!!! BEAUTIFUL AND LOVELY DONE!🙂💜🎶🙏⚘🎤🌷✝️🎸🥁🌹👍😂💋♥️💐🦋🎻🇺🇸👏👏👏♥️💜
This is FREAKIN AWESOME! Thanks for sharing. I couldn't imagine two better singers performing this than these two. They both are fantastic but Reba Rocks!!!!

Very nice! They blend perfectly. Great performance.
Reba has the voice of an angel. Love it!!!!
Someone needs to post the entire 75th Anniversary Opry show. I would love to see it. Reba and Connie sounds great.
What an incredible duet!!! These two ladies need to sing together more often!! Can they place record together?? Their voices blended so nicely!!
Fantastic loved this
Kudo's to you! Beautiful. Both ladies are Beautiful and Spectacular! My hzbnd loves Connie and you brought joy to his eyes (?). Thanks anyway!
Connie is just ageless!

Reba is fantastic!
YOU have excellent tast in music & music artists!!
Good duet!!

SWEET!!!!!!!! I love Reba McEntire!!!
It is good show
@YoungAtHeart1941

fantastic, but dont worry bout me by billy fury was ace of spades.many thanks.

Great video, I just wished you wouldn't have edited out Connie's solo. I would love to see the whole thing.
Reba has one of the best voices ever, However like many others she moved from real country into Pop long ago
Reba could sing real country music.,I wish she had stayed country!
I WOULD MATCH THESE TWO COUNTRY WOMAN WITH ANY OF THE BEST OUT THERE....ANY TAKERS????
Thanks for the sweet comment!
When you do a Marty medley, please sing only the songs that he wrote, and there are well over 100 of them.
She may be the best selling female country artist because she had her foundations in Country Music but her music is NOT country and there is no difference between her and the other artists of today that don't really sing country. this isn't the entire clip.. connie sings a song too, before the end together..

He's right, Dolly does have large credentials...
Kitty and Roy who? LOL I suppose the king of England is still Henry the Eigth too. Once a performer ceases to perform the crown passes to the next in line. George Strait is the current King and Reba the current Queen as both are still recording and performing at the top of their game.
no she was a while ago she still had her famous long hair

Tammy Wynette was queen of Country , Reba took her Crown
Tammy, Dolly, Reba, Loretta, Connie, Dottie West and anyone else you can name

whatwver Reba is much better evryone loves her thats why they call her the queen of country music!
very true but funny that neither Kitty or Roy can sing worth a hoot.

She's still selling millions of records and competing with today's supposed country females, so I think it'll happen once her career actually winds down, which, hopefully, is never!!
Two fabulous singers, but their voices do not mesh.
thats an ignorant comment because she isnt the best selling female country artist for nothing you know..not only that but she has and does sing country songs...shes not like all the other artists today that really dont sing country
