Hello! I have agoraphobia and panic disorder. If I watch news media I get panic. We cannot control society, but we can help each other. If everyone did this, society would be better. The only thing Jesus wanted was caring for each other. But selfish people take everything.
Francis of Assisi sounds like a good person, and by what you said, he sounds like Diogenes of Sinope, but less angry 😂
I don't try to forget everything, instead I try to remember my neighbours. Hello from your New Zealand neighbour!

    Dear Yutaka.
Thank you for making this video, it was very insightful. I have read on St. Francis of Assisi and you have given me more to read in the form of a Zen monk. Thank you. I hope you can achieve a level of responsibility that feels reasonable, and forget, but know, what worries you. Greetings from America.

Hey Yuta, things may worry us but we should sometimes let situations take place and have ourselves be calm.

First of all I think there is a clear understanding that being a Christian is partly to serve others first before you serve yourself. And also a lot of these ideas echo the book of Ecclesiastes which teaches that almost everything is useless or meaningless and ends with the conclusion that the only worthy pursuit is to serve God and do his commandments. This book is written by Solomon who was a King of Israel and asked God for wisdom which he gave Solomon abundantly. Also I'm not as wise as Solomon, but I would say I came to the same conclusion struggling through life before giving it to God.

I haven't finished watching your video yet so I might be a bit confused. As I am no longer a Christian (I do have spiritual beliefs though), the idea of forgetting myself sounds horrendous. All I can picture is myself living in a cave wearing an old sack, drinking plain water and eating boiled potatoes and praying 24/7 for the world. I like people, I want more friends and I like helping people. But I cannot worry about the world as I have no control over the psychopaths who run it. I don't want to worry about my own problems but remedy them where possible and ask for help. Finding a balance is the best thing. You cannot forget yourself otherwise your mental health will suffer or you could die an early death. You are still young but when you get to my age you know that you might not have too many years left. I want to be happy more than anything else. Now, I will carry on watching your video. Also, being really poor is a big concern. When I was in my twenties I lived in a flat but did not have any furniture apart from a sofa which I slept on. I did not have a fridge or anything to cook on - so I had to eat cold food and I could barely afford food so I lived on coffee (I did have a kettle and a mug and could afford sugar). Things like sanitary towels were too expensive so my mum gave me some old sheets and I made my own. I would go into McDonalds and unroll a lot of toilet paper and put it in my handbag and take it home. Any extra money I had I gave to the father of my son. No one wants to be that poor in a modern country and of course it worried me to a certain extent but I was young and would spend my days walking for miles looking for money. I lived like this for about 6 months. I had no flooring just a sub floor made from wood ash squashed together to form floorboards but the dust that came of it was really bad and I would spend a lot of time sweeping the floor. Yes, there are poor people in modernized countries - people in Japan (I think) who live in coffin houses (like a cage with only enough room for a bed) - mainly elderly men who have lived like this for years. Yes, if we are fairly well off we should forget more about ourselves and look after the poor and needy in our local neighborhoods or at least donate to charities if we are housebound.
