I built this exact box back in 98 and still have the template. I’m amazed to see some one else design my idea. And I used 2 kicker solo baric 12” Great work kid.
you know bracing is changing the tune freq of your enclosure? It's a really small box which I doubt need any extra bracing when you got the port to support the strength.
Very Shweet build man, well done :D Could you please tell me if the 39cm is the back side of the port facing the side where the ports are? I am off now to buy the MDF board to start my build for two TARGA D4 street series12inch DVC 650rms x2 subs running on a 1800rms amp on 1ohm setup. Do you think your box would do fine or is that too much power for this box? I a bit concerned about port noise at that much airflow, maybe im just too worried?
Hi I have a tangband 3 inch and was wondering what type of box I should make for it, so it has good bass for such a little woofer but also having good sound quality? wanna make a cool little boom box thingo, cheers 👍.
lots of work!! i finally put that free kicker zx200.4 amp together and it fucking worked perfect! free and that puts out a nice bit of power for nothing! its used for powering speakers right? so far thats al i see, but do you reckon it could power a sub to sound a little better in a ported box than a POS fusion slim sub?
hey my Friend. I got One cubic foot custom made box here in brasil. Its a L ported just like your but the guy that did my box didnt do 45 angle on all the edges like yours. He didnt cover the edges like you did its just a rectangle box with a L shaped port. If he covered every edge like you did do you think it would make a Big Diference in sound?
It would make a better/cleaner sound, but i dont think it would be any louder. Adding those 45 angles would make your volume even smaller, which could mess up your tune and/or your sub. It really depends on the sub, some are design for more air space or less and you could mess up your speaker if its in a wrong box.
alexisthemexican @leandro5999 The resistance of corners effectively adds length in most cases. does affect the tune to some extent and the 45's again will affect it.
Is kicker any good? I've heard mixed opinions but almost everyone says they're definitely not competition ready... are they just entry-level subs or something?
Seth Hardin kicker is ok gear if we are only talking about subs, I’ve used a few of there woofers and they have always been ok, the square subs L7 etc are pretty cool and handle good power and have defiantly seen them used for competition stuff but that’s saying there is better subs around for less money than kicker gear much like Rockford stuff your paying for the name a bit but it’s not crap by any means
Just me, just buy a prefab it's like 50-100 bucks to buy one from amazon, by scar very nice actually. you want to bnuild one? It will cost you around 60-100 bucks to do it yourself. That's assuming you ALREADY have the tools. Let me tell you, it is pure absolute HELL. if you don't have a router? You'll wish you had just purchased the box. And your cuts need to be PERFECT. Just buy one. seriously.
Kira Ryusaki You should check that any box is suitable for your specific speakers. If the ones he used have similar Vas, F3 and TQ then it'll likely do okay. Is that hard to model up your own tho.
getahanddown i built the box than decided to use a double layer of wood and a lot of glue and used 2, 15'' kicker's in there and it turned out so good that it got too much for me so now i have just an alpine woofer in a weird kind of box i bough. still good though.
im located at the southern end of the gold coast, im not sure what the subs cost around $500ea I think but if you mean how much for a box for 2 of them it just depends what you want

I love how they have their own ports
Love the safety shoes, thats gangsta !!!!!!
I like this box. Hope the volume is the same as the recomended volume on the subs
I use to have these. Didn't know you could do a vented enclosure for them. Probably don't need much of an amp for them in that.

We double wall the whole enclosure here in the U.S.
But anything kicker single wall is ok..

The solo classic was design only for sealed enclosures not ported
Yea i was referring to just the box
OH i forgot to ask if it will also work just as fine with the subs mounted on the same side as the port instead of on top like you did?

btw whats the specs on the box like if you made t a single one with out the second chamber ? i need to make a proper sub box!
you know solo classics were specifically design to be in small sealed box, hope it works out for you.

whats the width, height, and depth?port width and the length of port1 and port2 of this box?

loks real good bro
Those Kicker Solo Classics are a small sealed encosure subwoofer... really curious to hear how this sounds.
lmadden6236 They're good. I used to do these 1cu' sealed or in a larger low tune setup and they're nice and musical.
nice box !
Hi... do you do installations... r u from syd or qld... thanks

would that box be good if i put in 2 12inch Cube subwoofers ? each a 1000 watts.

***** Which box sounded better? I can't find the vid.
I thought these subs were spec'ed more for sealed? At least the old ones from the 90's were.
yeah they are but perform well ported just wont handle as much power in the ported box, not a ideal for ported but
***** Just wondering why in the clip you recommend the box for any 12's when another 12 will play differently in the same box?
What's all the dimensions on this box?
yeah good question, this was quite a long time ago and nothing was written down, so sorry cant help
thats good ! ^^, Must sound awesome :p
i bet that was hard work
