yes i want, and i building one, tought my self how to use winisd, how to calculate, how adjust, and today i have received my mdf peaces :) weekend gona be loud :D
All I can say is wow!!! just got done building this box for a cheap walmart dual sub. I would have never belived this sub could hit the low notes it's hitting.
There are a few special tools you can use, I'm not really cutting anything to shape in my trunk build right now, I am fiber glassing everything up to the edge. I'll try to cover it somehow in the future.
Awesome Mark!!!! Thanks for the free design, it gives us newbies a place to start. I'm find a start my fiberglass door panels soon and your videos help immensely. Not sure on how I'm supposed to go about joining the fiberglass and door panel together, hopefully you have some tips for me... Thanks again... Looking forward to helping you on Pateron so you can produce some more videos..
Hey Mark love the channel and videos been very helpful but I have a question how do I measure 19.461" and like 12.439" cani just round those up to 19.5" and 12.5"?
Thanks! Let me know how it turns out on our facebook. If you want to do something more advanced in the future I do custom box designs that you can purchase at www.caraudiofabrication.com/#!box-designs/cl1d
whats up i love the informative videos keep it up!! How bout a design for 2 Fi ssd 18's for a 98 Tahoe? Also, how do you make the templates so that the outer edges of a wall build or trunk enclosure conforms to the shape of the trunk or sides on an suv? Thanks in advance!
I have two 12" inches subwoofer with 500 watts RMS each, what is the box dimensions should i built in terms or height, width & length? It will be much appreciated on your feedback. Thank you.
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab, I put a 12" older alpine type r that is enclosed in a roughly 1.25 - 1.35 cubic feet with long side port, ran 2ohm to a kicker zx750x1. It sounds like crap until I roll down the windows or open the doors.
2 Things: GREAT design choice!! I used to build one similar for a 12" 2.3 ft tuned @ 34 with a slot port. A few friends I made some for named them "The Wonder Box" because you could get amazing bass throwing almost ANYTHING in it. But My Q is what software are you doing the CAD style sheets on? Thanks! And NICE box design there!
What should I expect to pay for a custom built box to specs? I don't have equipment or patience to build it but would like ti know what kind of estimates I should be receiving. Thanks
Ive been looking for box plan this size for a while now! thank you for posting it up. but one thing, if i want to tune it to 36-38hz should the port be shorter or longer?
It would be shorter , but at the same time the effects the internal air volume, if you are looking for a custom design hit up our site, www.caraudiofabrication.com
I've got my Kicker Comp R 12" in this box and it bumps. The direction in which you face your box does make a difference. Mine is pointed upwards towards my roof. I managed to build mine out of a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" MDF with plenty of leftover material. With Liquid Nail, screws, and MDF, this build ran me around $40 and took me a total of four hours to build and set up, not counting drying times for the Liquid Nail.
I noticed you had a vid where you were curving the inside of your sub box to assist in more efficient sound flow through the box. How much of a difference has it made for your sound?
Hey, great videos and great channel! Do you know of a vehicle specific sub box for a 1997 caddy deville? I would like to add something, but not looking to stick a big square box in there..
Im also designing a 2.5 cu ft box for a 12 inch. I want it to be tuner to 28 Hz, but i have to make the port into a "U" shape, rather than the "L" shaped port u used. Will the U shaped port cause port noise or will the air flow through nicely?
Jacob Lane Jacob, it would be best if we do a custom design specifically for your subwoofer and goals. Send us a message via our website contact form at www.caraudiofabrication.com/
Hi how are things. Do you have any idea if the dd812 2000w Rms 1ohms subwoofer can be tuned at 33hz or less? I want to put two subwoofers in a drawer with a duct in the middle. Thanks!
Can somebody please please please explain how the numbers or so I know how to find it on my tape measure 12.59” I’m use to 12 1/2 1/4 3/4 I’m seeing all this 1.03”
dude help me... i built this but it sound too boomy in my home theater setup. any tweaking ? any advise on the port size, length ? i wanna get a controlled tight bass from this box, what to change? im using 3/4inch MDF, with 1inch front baffle. stuffed with loosened fibre fill. moved it at least 10 times around my setup. what am i doing wrong ?
Im assuming this box is designed for first-time builders because there arent any 45's. i personally would use a double baffle for a Fi bl 12 but i dont really think its necessary. I just like to be a perfectionist :)
@CarAudioFabrication Most definitely using this build for my 12" kicker I'm putting in my 2002 blazer. Watch all your videos when I get the chance, just recently ordered your placement laser so I can build my custom A pillar beams for the CTsounds 1" and 3" Meso component speakers! Thanks for all the tips and tricks and for uploading it all! Much appreciated mark, but, I have a question if i could bother to ask about this particular build/video; On the front of the enclosure does the dimension of the width include the piece that is the first section of the internal port or is that just a beveled edge for air flow?? Thanks again looking forward to the next one
Thanks but what if your sub fs is 31.3Hz? Will the box still work? I have a similar design, just larger width, smaller depth and slanted rear panel. Pre built. Will this box be different(louder bass) or not?
You know what would have been cool is if u didn't put numbers that aren't on the tape measure like how am I supposed to find those 12.439 I'm so confused when I'm trying this I'm a beginner but thanks for the info I'm doing my best
Hey Guys! I made this video ages ago when I first started making videos, I have no idea why I showed the dimensions in decimals, now all my designs are done in fractions, I can also make the blueprints in metric. Want to build your own subwoofer box but unsure how to start? A well designed box will make your subwoofer perform much better! Get yours today here: www.caraudiofabrication.com/box-designs
Hello Why cant you give us the dimensions in both imperial and metric units? All the videos you post is only imperial units which is VERY confusing :| The same about your box-order-blueprint-thingy on your website... Anyway, i love the videos and builds that you have done :)
New to channel question is , is the vented style box better than the pvc ported style just looking for a simple reason why? I haven’t built any box yet for a single soundqubed 12 on a 600 watt amp and most likely will get the Rockford fosgate 6-8 for a Ford explore I’m starting off simple
Im building in a 97 ford F-350, thinking center console. Not looking for competition, just full potential. The prefab boxes for under the rear sea only have 1.6 cubic feet for 2 speakers (either 10, or 12) I was looking for suggestions. Im a carpenter and dont think Id have trouble building a box, but I dont know about car audio. Thanks for any info.
If you are interested you can hire me to plug thorugh all the math and details for you and design the enclosure for you to then build. Details here: www.caraudiofabrication.com/#!box-designs/cl1d
How I can find out what box size I need for my 12"400 watts Audiobahn subwoofer back of the speaker is plain no nubers or any descriptions only things I know that is 4 ohm 400 watts 12"
you change the length of the aero ports to a longer length to get better low end response or you cut them shorter to tune higher. If you cant Add straight length to them cut the short and add a 90 degree bend and continue lengthening. Its very rare and not recommended to do this though.
Needed to add that the aero ports listed might not have the cross sectional area your box needs to have for your sub. Rule of thumb is 12-16 square inches for every net cubic foot of displacement inside of your box. Pie times radius squared is area of a circle so 2*2*3.14=12.56*2ports=25.12in squared, for a fifteen you aren't running a big enough port at all and your box is probably oversized unless it call for 4.85 cubic feet net (assuming you gave outside dimensions and the wood is 3/4" thick). Sorry geeked out a little bit.
This would of been perfect for me cause i have the bl 12 but there is to much depth. All I can say is wow!!! just got done building this box for a cheap walmart dual sub. I would have never belived this sub could hit the low notes it's hitting.
I just wanted to let you know that I finally got around to making this box for my fi ssd and it sounds great! Thank you!
Yes I do. Thanks for watching
Wow someone actually explained how the pieces sit and fit together. Thanks
There are a few special tools you can use, I'm not really cutting anything to shape in my trunk build right now, I am fiber glassing everything up to the edge. I'll try to cover it somehow in the future.
I was looking for a box just like this. Thanks so much for the free info.
thanks for the help on custom box design box sounds great
Yes definitely!
Im using a FI BL-Neo 10.. LOVE IT!
There are lawyers, there are doctors... and then there is this guy!!!
yes, Box is 2.5 Cu. feet but always remember to Subtract the Subwoofer displacement Volume for your Net Cu. feet. 🖒
Type in "cm to in" on google, it has a conversion tool
I'm liking every detail you put in this video which makes it amusing to watch. What about a box for a 12in ssa xcon

thanks for ur help on my sub box build...I can see now that I will learn a lot from you.
Any videos on this so I can hear what it sounds like? I built it today just waiting for the caulking to set
That's nice very small box that won't take up space thanks for video
Awesome, thank you.
Thanks alot for this. But do you know if lining it with 1 inch foam about 1.5pcf density will make the sub think its in a smaller box?
just subscribed awesome videos very imformational
Thank you for this post, start to build this one asap🙂🇵🇭
making this right now :) wish me luck on my first box build!
How’d it go? Did it last 8 years I’m about to build this box
Hey Mark love the channel and videos been very helpful but I have a question how do I measure 19.461" and like 12.439" cani just round those up to 19.5" and 12.5"?
i rounded them up to 0.5 inch and the box went together perfectly no leaks
I'm really looking forward to build this box!
Thanks! Let me know how it turns out on our facebook. If you want to do something more advanced in the future I do custom box designs that you can purchase at www.caraudiofabrication.com/#!box-designs/cl1d
i want to build sub box for 12" size of the speaker L ported box is 27 "× 15 "
There you go! See the video desciption for the next video I made per your request!
thats the box I came up with for the best balance of lower bass and 50 hz bass
that would be awsome if you could do a free video on four 12's tuned to 32htz!
whats up i love the informative videos keep it up!! How bout a design for 2 Fi ssd 18's for a 98 Tahoe? Also, how do you make the templates so that the outer edges of a wall build or trunk enclosure conforms to the shape of the trunk or sides on an suv? Thanks in advance!

I have fosgate T112d4 that's been sitting around. Do you think it will sound good in this enclosure?
I recommend a custom design www.caraudiofabrication.com/box-designs
Thank you!
Gonna use this for an alpine bass line 12"
Dona under the seat ported box for 2 12s. Hard to find boxes for ext cab trucks
Is this like google sketchup? can google calculate inside box volume? if so that would be a awesome vid

Ive been looking for box plan this size for a while now! thank you for posting it up. but one thing, if i want to tune it to 36-38hz should the port be shorter or longer?

Can u help to make subwoofer box for home use 12" Subwoofer
I noticed you had a vid where you were curving the inside of your sub box to assist in more efficient sound flow through the box. How much of a difference has it made for your sound?
That's a good question, wondering that myself!
Est Cruz I think that helps with the air flow of the box so it doesnt overheat
subwoofer boxes does not overheat. If your subs get that hot they are probably on fire.
Donald Trump hahahahhaa lol
We. Love. You. Gise
Hey, great videos and great channel! Do you know of a vehicle specific sub box for a 1997 caddy deville? I would like to add something, but not looking to stick a big square box in there..
Great vid,can you do one for a American Bass XFL 12

Should this work for a massive hippo 12? It's optimal air volume cubic feet is 2.59 and I figured its close enough?
Jacob Lane Jacob, it would be best if we do a custom design specifically for your subwoofer and goals. Send us a message via our website contact form at www.caraudiofabrication.com/

1:50 2:10 I believe you called it a chanford/roundover
Is a "L" port better then a straight port?
Thanks for the video. I like to tune lower, would you recommend wider port or longer port for lower Hz? I would like to shoot for 23 Hz.
where are you from ?? im from Norway and can you give me the lenght of the box in (cm) centi meter that is what we use
If you need help with a box design I do them for $30, if interested send me a message or post a comment.
Would a Rockford fosgate p3 sound good in this box?
so if i wanted to build a box with two 12'' would i just double every number. one of the subs is an mtx and mtx recommends a 2.00 cubic feet box size
Have you ever ran into port velocity issues?
If I were to buy 1 sheet of mdf to make this box what size would the sheet need to be
Nice video :)
Any videos for ported box under 2 cubic feet??
Thanks but what if your sub fs is 31.3Hz? Will the box still work? I have a similar design, just larger width, smaller depth and slanted rear panel. Pre built. Will this box be different(louder bass) or not?
Any modal detail
build a sealed box, or adjust the tuning frequency. i heard around 20 hz would be good, but i'm not sure
You should definitely do one for an 18" Fi BL that I'm getting. I really want it at 6 cubes tuned to 30 hz. :( I just suck at building boxes :(
Would this box work with my soundstream t4 12?? Would appreciate a answer!
If yes I'll try it out:)
do u think a infinity ref1260w sub will play good i this box?
Sir which software ur Or using to design
You know what would have been cool is if u didn't put numbers that aren't on the tape measure like how am I supposed to find those 12.439 I'm so confused when I'm trying this I'm a beginner but thanks for the info I'm doing my best
Is that to big for a ev4 sundown
nice box would this work for a american bass e-1244 12 inch sub
Would this design work for a single 12”nep authority
Is it ok i use this box as a home theater sub?
Yes, but to get the best performance a custom box would be better. www.caraudiofabrication.com/box-designs

Do you know where I could find subwoofer box specifications. for a American bass 12" HD dual 2ohm? or point me in the right direction? thanks!
Is this box ok for kicker cvr 12inch.......
Can anyone tell me these dimensions on a tape measure?
hi; how do u tune with 2 aero ports @ 4" diameter 10" long in a box 36" w by 17" h by 19" d ( 15" sub disp is 0.27) can u help ?thanx

ok i got u thanx for that
Hey what program is that
This would of been perfect for me cause i have the bl 12 but there is to much depth. I need a box that is more lengthy instead of depthy lol like 29 in the length 15 in height. tuned for the fi sub...FOr some reason there are hardly any designs of rectangular boxes, they are all more square which in my case takes up to much room. I need a rectangular design with the woofer in the center of the box.
Same
Joshua Robles look up octaport sub enclosure
Joshua Robles what box did you end up getting ? I'm getting a BL 12" soon also
Hi. Would it drastically change sound if I reduce the length of the box by 7cm ( 3") ?
Could you add the reduced square " back in other directions?
Hi I have a 79 trans am that im trying to build a box in the truck to fit 2 JL Audio 13" subs cant remember the exact model number at the moment but do you happen to have a design for a box for one of them?
ive been looking for a box for 05 silverado out fire either 10's facing out 2 up or 4 8's facing out
