Thanks for the long ball hex tip. It’s the top right hand bolt that has almost no space to access and you have to access it from an angle. With out this tool, I believe you’d have to remove the turbo and manifold to get access to it.
It was for sure hard to install without this tool, BMW made it hard!
Yea man 🤙🏼
Thanks again guys!!
Just installed this 👍🏽 That top right bolt took forever lol. Literally like 4 hours of adjustments with barely any finger room to get it in lol.
haha! that was literally my issue! Hope you enjoyed this!
Loved ur Video bro.Big time Help.Cant wait till I get mines 😎
Glad I could help!
One of my hex bolts from top is stripped. How can I remove it?
Thanks for showing the order it goes in
No problem 👍
In terms of sound, Do you think there’s any point having the MST intake and the BOV?
Definitely! The intake alone adds so much swoosh and the diverter valve adds an extra sound
Was wondering how you took the piston off the DV?? I was going at it for about an hour and i cant take that apart, so i frustratingly just reinstalled it and gonna go at it another day.
I used the Long ball hex joint -tool 4mm. Without it I couldn't of done it.
nice video! I have a n20 with intake and GFB dv + installed as well, but it does not make the flutter sound, my inlet is original of the car. Can you tell me how to get the flutter? Doing the inlet upgrade? What modifications do you think I should make. Mine only makes the flutter sound when the car is really hot
For me it usually happened between 1st and 2nd gear at high rpms while downshifting
It's literally the DV not doing its job lol
Unfortunately i have a gfb dv+ however i have a pwg and not ewg like the once in the video... im not too sure how to install the gfb dv+ because there is barely little area for space on my 328i pneumatic wastegate
I would check with GFB if it matters having a PWG or a EWG for this.
Just found your channel and really enjoying ur content what year was your 320i and how much did you pay for it im really interested in buying one ?
Definitely get one! I bought it used from BMW, I think it was about $28k? It was a 2016 model, Pre lci
Hey man, awesome video! I'm doing this to my 328i with the n26 engine but I am curious, have you had any check engine lights go on from this?
Hey! Not a problem at all, just cool sounds and an excellent throttle response. So far, drove it over 1,000+ miles and no issues.
@@RADBAVARIAN another question: how did you get that screw to the right
@@josephcosta2802 I explained to my video about the long ball hex joint. That literally saved my install time.
I had it on my car for about 10k miles then it through a check engine light and I had to go back to OEM the n20 does not like it at all it got to the point where the electronic control for the diverter was so far out of spec and couldn't work correctly.. its not worth it
will the TURBOSMART BOV KOMPACT EM DUAL PORT VR9 they have work with a 2016 BMW 320i ??
That I don't know, but this GFB was a great mod and update.
Since broken in, does it still make the fluttering sounds as it did in the short clip from the video? Please let me know thanks !
Hey! It still does on first and second gear, it's actually a pretty cool sound to be honest. I'm going to make a video on all the sounds my car makes this far.
Mine doesn’t do any flutter noises it’s it makes a quiet noise is it brokenv
Hi, sorry to ask, what is the size of the long ball hex socket that you used? the rounded head ball socket size ?
To be honest I'm not sure, I bought a set at Harbor Freights
what’s up bro! Just installed mine last night, but I’m not getting any flutter noise and my intake doesn’t seem to be letting go as easily as before, do I have to brake it in?
It should give you some sound for sure. It also depends if you have an aftermarket intake or not-the stock intake on an N20 does suppress the sound.
to get 2 types of sounds do i need to tune the ecu ( bm3, custom remap ) ????
Possibly? Thats how I was able to achieve that specific spool sound
Hey I installed a gfb diverter valve on my 328i and I don’t hear my turbo at all anymore and neither my injen intake any idea why?
It depends on many factors, the GFB doesn’t suppress the sound it’s more preventative measures to delete plastic parts to aluminum. It does flutter at high RPMS. My 320i’s induction sounds were loud in sports mode, at high RPMS while downshifting.
Does the car need a tune for the sound I’m reading some people have both dv and intake but no sound
These sounds come out at high rpm’s and while down shifting.
Bruh that tape on the bolt was new to me.. if only you could imagine the nuts and bolts i've lost in the engine bays oh man
I learned that after I lost a few bolts, ha! I also use a magnetic rod in case.
Wich are the especific long hex that you use? I want to Buy just one not all the pack🤣
Ha! I hear you, so I used the one that fits the 4mm hex socket.
Does this fit on the B48? I have the 320i also but not sure if it fits?? There’s no information anywhere on the forums😩😩
I would first check if the diverter valve is the same. B48 is a different layout than the n20
Oh my god, I freaking was looking for that video today because I was thinking of buying one and I was like how come rad doesn’t have one on his car 😂 and here you go released the video today.
Here’s a question for you: is there a difference between the dv and a bov? Or they are the same thing ?
Yep same shit not big differance
They both function differently; one throws air out and the other back in the intake. There is a slight difference in the throttle response, I would say faster and sharper. It also holds more boost.
RAD BAVARIAN sike
hey man so i just installed my turbo inlet pipe and same diverter valve & once it was all complete i hardly heard the fluttering noise unless when revved up to high rpms, when driving on the street, i really couldn’t hear it at all, any tips or comment on why that could be? i double checked my work & it was all good nothing left behind. is it a process to break it in first?
Hey! So what intake are your running? My MST really helps amplify all those sounds too. The OEM intake is built to suppress extra sounds for comfort.
@@RADBAVARIAN i have a injen intake
@@mitchell.f30 any news brotha? I have the same injen intake and it doesn’t make any flutter noises yet, I just installed it last night
@@marcusbuhay6429 same
how about the sound ?? i would like to hear before and after .
There is a sound clip at the start.
Thanks man 🤜🏼🤛🏼..
I got the valve installed and put everything back together and I think I'm getting a boost leak. Not sure what's going on but everything is rock solid my car just won't accelerate properly.
acceleration? Maybe check your spark plugs and/or coil packs. If you tightened everything right you should be okay.
@@RADBAVARIAN it started working. I had a small ding on the piston of the valve but after driving it for a while it broke in and works perfect
Getting ready to order mine from Kies. Do you have a referral code, or should I just email them and mention you?
I don't man, but yeah let them know you saw my video 😎🙏
Scott Friesner ebay is cheap rolf
Is that normal the compressor surge sound, I have the same sound on every level of boost on my n55
Hey! Yes, it's actually the diverter valve that causes that "surge" or "flutter" sound that we are hearing. Now that my car is adjusted, it only occurs in sport mode from 1 - 2 gear.
@@RADBAVARIAN okey good and how did you adjust that?
@@louis-philipedenis9023 it actually adapted in its own. Soon I'm making a video on all the sounds my car makes
Hi brian. So on your bm3 video, you mentioned to me that you had installed inlet pipe. What does it do exactly? I have the ftp charge pipe and boost pipe for my f10 n20. Is inlet pipe different than boost pipe?
Hey Kenny! Yeah, it is! The inlet is a preventative upgrade, with the extra boost pushing out due to my tune, the turbo inlet pipe will improve turbo response, increase airflow, and less turbo lag, and lastly add little horsepower. I got mine through Kies Motorsport
@@RADBAVARIAN awesome explaination. Loud and clear. Yeap definitely will get the inlet pipe too then. Thanks a lot.
I cant get that screw out even with the long ball hex joint tool... any ideas??
Hey! That long ball hex was the only way I was able to get it out. Did you clear the intake/charge pipe, etc?
@@RADBAVARIAN hey, yup! intake was removed inlet pipe etc.. the long ball hex joint tool just would not turn the screw at all! the screw is too tight, the ball joint would spin inside the screw not gripping it enough to turn it, super frustrating, my auto shop said they would have to remove my turbo and manifold to get to that screw and its not worth the labor... idk what to do
I installed everything just like you did and I have no sound differences?
Intake too?
Notes for F10 N20 - Remove everything that obstructs access the diverter valve: cross brace, engine cover, PCV hose, fresh air intake, breather hoses on air inlet, electrical connectors, L shaped air inlet to turbo (hidden 10mm retaining nut), vacuum actuator and bracket [(2) T45 bolts], air charge pipe, heat shields, coolant overflow sphere.
The diverter OEM bolts are T30, and that obstructed bolt can be removed with a long shank T27. After assembling the new GFB+unit, hold it in place with some painters tape over the top to the turbo flange. Slide the solenoid with new spring and piston in from below, then tilting it forward to GFB. Once the solenoid ears get past the block, place a new bolt thru the solenoid ear on the top right. I held the solenoid with my left hand while using a pickup magnet to hold the bolt while I slid it thru that ear. You have to do that before moving the solenoid up and onto the GFB+. It's the only way to get that back bolt into place.
If i did this job again, once the old valve was removed, I'd Dremel the block flange that obscures that back bolt to open a channel for the long shank bits
Whoa...
@@RADBAVARIAN Nasty job for a simple swap out. And I'll probably have to rebuild the turbo anyway. No charge pipe leaks, low boost, and the car still sets the 120318 code
Do you have a link to the part?

I installed the same valve, but I didnt get the sound. Do you know why? F30 N20
I think that only happens at certain rpm’s and if you have an intake as well.
Prob need an intake
Which valve did you buy? I want to buy the same one lol 😂
here you go man www.kiesmotorsports.com/products/go-fast-bits-dv-diverter-valve-t9357-bmw-n20-n26-320-328-420-428-and-most-4-cyl-turbo?_pos=2&_sid=42ad83bbc&_ss=r
RAD BAVARIAN thank you
BRO...WHAT THE NUMBER ON THAT " HEX WRENCH"??THANKS
I guess I did miss this lol
the flutter noise is not because of the dv+... it's because of your intake
Its a combo of both
Does it work on a 330i?
Hmmm I’m not too sure. I would reach out to Kies Motorsports and ask them. I believe they had one in their shop.
is this model GFBT9356 ?
I think so? I would ask Kies Motorsports for the part
How much hp gains ?
Not much in HP, but more preventative, boost security and amazing sounds lol
What size is the hex bit thoe ?
I think I mentioned it in the video lol
Is this an n26?
No this is an N20
I recently tried to install mine couldn’t get the Wastegate wires unplugged am I just being a sissy not wanted to hurt my fingers trying to get it off?
Lol. It does take some time, and I did have to remove a few things.
@@RADBAVARIAN I think I could get it I’m gonna take more time and be patient
@@RADBAVARIAN 10 months still not installed I got froggy just now and just started watching N20 turbo flutter videos and now I wanna try and actually do it.
Any ECU codes?
Nope, its a pretty hectic install if you do not have the right tools. But, totally worth it!

Hey @rad bavarian, what lubricant you used to lubricate the GFB diverter?
@@hishamhab9564 oil
came in here for a sound clip.. but no sound clip. =/
You must have skipped the beginning 😂
@@RADBAVARIAN is ur car tuned prior to the install? i installed mine today and mine sounds no where close to yours. no tune (yet).. the top right bolt was a bih to install. but i got it all the way in. just not sure if its tightened down all the way. do u think thats why im not getting the same sound urs is? thanks for the reply.
It only happens on high RMPs, it fluttered that way at first then it only happens when in Sport and high RPMSs
U got divirter valve same as u stock intake 0 sound lol I hate mst intake u think injen is better
I have an injen. I was definitely not let down. Amazing.
Anthony Aviles lol il sell my shit car :)
Anthony Aviles sell
Umm, I think what you were trying to say is that my diverted valve didn’t do much with sound? Maybe listen to the video and you’ll hear it lol
Un farsa si no remueves el turbo la válvula no sale, The video is fake you need remove turbo if you dont remove turbo the valve does not come aut
You are totally right, I wonder how I was able to do it without removing the turbo. lol
Bro ur just bad
