      Im sure there will be a tuner near you. Just ask simple questions. 1. Do they have dyno? 2.Ask them if they log timing retards and fuel trims. 3. Can they do adjustments based on that.

    would a b48 provide better numbers? Are they more reliable? reffering to a 2016 320i lci. And what mods are needed for a stage 2? Downpipe and intake setup? Would i be expecting 200rwkw from a stage 2? Thanks awesome video

      Since when did the F30 320i ever come with a B48? The engine cover is a clear indicator, but some parts will quite literally have engravings saying “N20” on them.

    Thanks, I bought F31 320iX and starting to push it much harder, maybe to 305HP. So should change pistons, intercooler, intake, map, downpipe. It has 150kkm and was driven by old lady before. Any other changes? pls an advice

      Personally just wouldn't recommend pushing the n20 past 300hp. Catless, Cooler, Intake - Should be fun enough. Anything past that - Start with somehting that is made for 400+HP

      you will have a different engine, b48 instead of n20, and start with the tune before you do the downpipe:) in saying that, b48 tends to melt cats a lot so tune + downpipe is ideal.

      the n20 in F2x chasiss is all the same story. B48 on the other hand is a bit beefier set up which could be pushed a bit harder.

    hi, your workshop is literally next to my house, i'm in greenlane haha. just been looking at the 330e, they are supposed to have the same engine as these 320i? the B48 right? so would I get good gains from similar mods as you've done to this 320i, other than having more instant torque from the electric engine?

      Nah I'm from Malaysia, our specs from 2017 and above doesn't have 330i anymore, the top spec has been replaced by the 330e so I'm getting that one.

      Hey Tovey. 330E with B48 is a slightly beefier version of b48. The end result is solid mid 300hp at the engine with close to zero turbo lag. The closer comparison betweent he two would be older N55 335i and AH3. But yes, with similar mods as in this video 330E gets around 80hp extra and 120-140nm of torque bump. Would love to do the video on one.

    Q: What did BMW do to the 320i engine after 4500 rpm?? In stock form the power just stops, such potential out of these things.... tune and 328i beater!

      To separate it from 328i, they literally brought down the power request. From throttle closure, to lower boost, fueling, torque limitation etc. Merc were the first ones to do it on C63 W204. Got a separate video on that.

    184 hp are the 320i's with B48B20 engine before 2017, those where around 170hp stock

      What? That makes no sense where do you have that information from? The efficient dynamics version had 170hp
      The 320i started having 184hp in 2012 with the n20 and then got a facelift in the end of 2015 with the b48 continuing to have 184 hp

      if you find me pre-2015 320i with B48 engine from the factory, I will buy it from you. 2015 was the start of LCi production where they replaced n20 with b48. and none of the n20s make 170 bhp, the 320i EDE made 170 with n13 engine.

    I have a question with regards to pops and bangs ? are they harmful for these motors ? does the n20 motors have any weak piston ring issues ???

      Generally speaking all pops and bangs are harmful. You are throwing unburned fuel at hot exhaust. Then detonate it right next to turbo/Wastegate/o2 sensors. Generally avoid like plague unless customer signed a waiver.

    I have a f30 2018 b48 2.0 engine and there is a lot of tuners that can optimize my car up to 300hp. But where is the sweet spot on where it cant destroy my engine? 250hp?
    And did you hear about BSR brand?

      If i remember correctly it depends if you have GPF or not, but the non GPF cars are reasonably happy at 300 ish. Sorry pass on BSR, looks like another "bluechip" hand held flasher gimmick thing. Would suggest taking it to someone with set of rollers, as this is literally the only way to datalog the car properly and to see what the output is.

      There is no rule of thumb on what power/car has issues. Everything can be pushed to the limit safely, if you have matching hardware. Just find a reputable tuner in your area that has dyno and can provide full logging of the car

      @@EuroSurgeonNz GPF would make more exhaust counterpressure as so does the catalyzer, I have one 120i b48 and I imagine it has those parts so I would expect 260-270 hp from a safe calibration😛

      Yeah BSR claim 278hp on the B48B20A, wonder why most other tuners come even remotely close to those numbers, they claim 310hp or something on the B48B20B which may be more likely but probably not haha. 11:1 vs 10.2 compression ration unless I am totally off, to me that is a big deal and no personally not all B48 are the same.
      I went for the 330i just cause of that, but 100% new to BMW so take anything that comes out of my mouth with a full lorry of salt. Check with the experts instead.

      @@Bonbloc yup, I know these. Quite “optimistic” reading dyno. However, numbers don’t matter, unless you have what’s called baseline”. What did your car run stock? Was the stock number same as I have, or was it like 180-200hp? Because the dyno number by itself is pretty much a waste of time :)

      Hey. It will all depend on a tune/Condition of the car. On this particular car its 233 WHP, meaning this is closed to 280-290 BHP at the engine.

    hello, quick question, my N20 320i is reaching 173 hp crack power, i tuned at 1,4 bar and i reached max 224hp crank, what is wrong with the engine? torgue i had 370 nm, tha same like a 260 HP power . any advice will be appreciated

      Morning. Without datalogging is like asking a crystal ball. But lets try. Subject to to your ignition system being alive (aka coils/plugs), HP reading is top RPM, meaning you are not flowing enough up top. So Blocked cat/ Throttle closure/ turbo not very alive. Again, all guesswork without having car on rollers with logger.

      Hey team. Yup this is a tiny bit more than stage 1. From this point really need an intercooler, intake and Charge pipe that doesn't want to Chernobyl itself :)

      stage 1s and stage 2s are very safe. if u go over stage 2 and you start raising the pressure you gotta make sure your engine is built and serviced properly.

      Hey. Intercooler + Catless downpipe should be around 1200USD, than whatever intake you can get. Than set aside 1-1.5 for ECU + Transmission tuning on dyno. Find a reputable tuner in your area that knows N20 engines and you good to go.

      Sebastian hey bud. Google european car tuners in your area, find someone who specialises in euro cars/Bmw and has rolling road. Tell them that you would like stage 1 for Ecu and transmission. Ask them if they do full data logging on dyno. If all checks out- good to go ;)

      Eurocharged, and Midnight Speed Tuning are some good options in the Greater Toronto area. 11tenths and AMT Tuning are also a couple other options we have here.

      The only test to that is time. So far done 500+ of n20 tunes. Know of a car that we did back in 2015 with 30000km on the clock, done stage 1. Seen the owner about a month ago, car has 260000km on the clock. Had to replace few suspension components, nothing engine related. Good enough I guess? In general, N20 proving to be quite hard to kill if dialed in correctly.

      Where it gets interesting is Pistons. Engines are different compression ratios. (10:1 for 28i & 11:1 for 20i). Basically 328i is just made for bigger boost.

    If anybody think about buying F3x 320d or 320i, DO NOT MIND PS BEFORE REMAP. After the remapping it is the same regardless. I could've saved 1k-1.5k if I knew this before.

      Not sure i follow. So you tuned you 320D and that didn't make any difference? 2 reasons, either whoever done it doesn't know what they doing, or your car has a problem. Was it done on Dyno? or a guy in a van that came around and flashed it?

      @@EuroSurgeonNz I mean there are "BMW - 320d - 2.0 - 161-BHP (01/2012 - 06/2015)" and "BMW - 320d - 2.0 - 184-BHP (01/2012 - 06/2015)", essentially the same car, but other one is 161ps and second 184ps, but after remap both of them will be identical 220ps.
      Where I am from, there was few of 161ps versions for little bit cheaper, and if I knew this, I'd have taken this 161ps version. I believe it is called the "Efficient Dynamics" version.

    Does tune raise mpgs?

      On daily usage, there’ll be a small difference; but if you floor it, you’ll see that it’ll rise drastically since turbochargers are used for burning more fuel

    "personal suggestion" of my own mate - all these gain figures are totally meaningless without discussion of torque limits of the gearbox and clutch.

    Hi, what make dcat pipe did you use. What would you upgrade next for more bhp? Intercooler ?

      Hey. This one got our own version. Modified stock pipe. Car needed to pass visual inspection, so everything looks bone stock.

      Hey Johnny. Our own modded pipe on this. Most budget version really. Next step - intercooler, intake, Charge pipes, and maybe even turbo.
