    Product Description from EvangelicalBible.com:
    The Concord is a truly remarkable Bible, one of our favorites. Clear, bold type, abundantly supple leather make this an excellent choice in the Authorized Version. It also features a full yapp and raised spine hubs.
    This Bible offers a wealth of reference material-a glossary, concordance, dictionary of names and phrases, fifteen color maps, and gazetteer. Bold-figure cross-references link passages of the text without cluttering the page.
    In addition, a presentation page and family record, India paper, gilt edges, ribbon markers, and a real leather binding make this a very attractive Bible.

    I have the Concord bound in black goatskin leather, red letter edition. My wife gave it to me for Christmas in 2012. It's my favorite Bible, and I use it every day. I also have the wide margin, black letter edition. My wife also gave that one to me for Christmas back in 2001. Both have the best smyth sewn binding I've ever seen, plus a great concordance and Bible dictionary. You can't go wrong with a Cambridge Concord.

      I agree, my Church is ESV but I'm okay with that as I adore the ESV but thinking I'm going to start familiarizing myself with the King again. I miss it but it's so hard going back to the archaic language again.

    Excellent review. I think the Cambridge Concord is the perfect sized Bible balancing, size, font, and readability. I want one.

    I have had mine for about 3 weeks now--and I love it all the more! This Bible is fantastic, if feels fantastic--smoothest leather I have ever felt. And its size allows one to take it most anywhere. I have tons of Bibles--but this one is indeed very special to me. I'm so glad I have it!

    The calfskin version is preferred over the goatskin. Due to the fact the calfskin has a calfskin liner. The goatskin has a synthetic liner which may not last as long.

      @@fishersofmen4727 Well thanks for that. I'll look at the website, but like I said above I don't really need yet another bible as I have quite a number already, but the one reviewed looks more like what I'd been looking for, for quite some time.

    I love the Concord layouts. One of the best I own. I have it in goatskin. I would love to have one like this, but in NASB. However, I feel like the price for the normal editions is pushing it just a bit. But the $200 for this limited edition seems worth it for the collector's value.

    Readability depends not so much on size as on layout and spacing. This I learned while working in desktop
    publishing.

    • @hitekrednek7664
      @hitekrednek7664 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The world of compact Bibles is all messed up because people don't understand this. The Holman Compact Large Print Reference Bible is the best I've found, and there are quite a few premium Bibles which don't hold a candle to it because they have terrible layout and font sizing and spacing.

    • @sueregan2782
      @sueregan2782 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hitekrednek7664 Yes! I have that one also. 8pt, with some minor bleed through - VERY legible even in the red print. I have poor eye sight, but can read it easily.

    • @hitekrednek7664
      @hitekrednek7664 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sueregan2782 Exactly. I found a deal on them a while back and bought a box full for about $4 each. I gave a lot away to Bible study students and kept about a half-dozen for my future studies. They're the perfect flip-through Bible for when you don't want to wear your premium Bibles out by flipping back and forth constantly, and the perfect travel Bible when you want to carry the actual book and not an app.
      They have great binding, decent covers that feel nice and last well, cheap enough to replace without crying about it, good paper, if a bit thin, but it is a tiny Bible after all, nice spacing, good 8pt font size, good use of margins and whitespace overall, good overall proportions, though some might like it arranged more like a thinline pancake for backpack/briefcase carry. It's really hard to beat this unless you make one edge-lined and in goatskin with a leather liner. I've seriously considered having one rebound with premium leathers.
      Otherwise, if you want a near-perfect premium, small reader's Bible, go for the Cambridge Clarion. Amazing semi-compact layout and impressive readability with even better spacing and font choice. It's just inspiring and fun to read and it's my favorite to pick up when I'm looking to casually read at home. And it's surprisingly easy on the eyes for the font size, (8.75, I think, but reads more like a 10 for comfort) I love that it's easy to hold and easy to read it from a desk, plus the goatskin feels like a dream and the unique KJV layout should seriously have earned someone a nobel prize of some sort. Plus all the details are already done right on that one. There is a bit of a price gap between them though. :P

      @@hitekrednek7664 just ordered this mahogany Concord to replace my TBS Windsor. The Windsor is actually my favorite daily bible among my many bibles, including premiums. I have no problem with the 8 font at all despite my poor vision but I am finding the boldness and contrast with page color makes all the difference. Also verse by verse and double column is helpful. I have a gorgeous Treveris which I've probably read 3 times but my $50 Windsor is dog-eared. Looking forward to this Concord!

    There is probably no better Bible printer today than Jongbloed. They are able to line up the text on both sides of the page so there is no visible bleed though. Pricey ~$200?

    I recently purchased this Bible second hand, and my yapp is definitely not a full yapp. I struggle to make them even touch on the open edge, and it's not even close on the top and bottom. Very disappointing. Definitely a semi yapp even though the box claims full. Also, my calfskin is more a lightly marbled cover without much character to it, but it's still very nice. It also has a beautiful gold gilt line on the inside of the cover, which i haven't seen on any of the examples here on yt. All in all, it's still a beautiful Bible, but not what I thought i was getting. Im a little disappointed with mine. Just the cover, I should say.

    The print in this bible is inconsistent and you spend more time on the cover than inside the bible, I think your views should know the true about this bible, to many off you guys don't do a honest review of bibles more worried about the cover. so now I guess you block me and delete the message, as you don't like the truth.

    • @LegBuilder
      @LegBuilder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard that about this bible as well. I am not a red letter guy anyway. I have a concord from 1970s and there is no problems with the print. It’s not like it’s occasionally so I don’t understand how they can’t go back and touch up some of the really bad pages. It’s all digital now.
      I suspect most people are not actually reading their bible and just drooling over the physical book

      The Cambridge's modern printed Bible were printed via the facsimile of 50's Bible. Something like picture of old printed materials then reproduced via computerized printer on different sizes. Thus, the noted some inconsistencies in color and few broken letters were of old printed copy origin.
