    CONCORD was first bible I had to take to church in about 1969. About 52 years ago. Got a new one this month.

    Best reveiw on this comparison I have watched. I believe the glossary is less words in the 1950's text because, mid century American english still used some 1800's English words common in everyday speech. In this century 70 years later, less older English and more modernized speech, makes necessary a larger glossary for users.
    It is a true scan of the 1950's text and that is why I love the Concord so much. I also love the 1920's print in the cameo red letter.

    Great review - very comprehensive! As I discover more about the differences between publishers I have been learning that the trade offs between them is a definite fact of living with comprise..

    Thank you brother for a well thought out presentation of these differences. The AKJ Cambridge is definitely my preference .

    Great & helpful video. I was planning on buying the concord, but seeing the Turquoise has changed my mind. Perhaps in the future I'll get a concord as well, but I'm a big fan of the traditional feel of books. Thanks for creating this video, really appreciate it.
    God bless you.

    I think the turquoise is the best KJV in existence. I honestly don’t understand how anyone over 30 can read the Concord or the Cameo for any extended period of time let alone day in and day out as their daily Bible. The fonts in those are just so small and cramped. The font size, spacing and line leading in the turquoise is just incredible.
    Also I don’t know what’s happening with the camera here but the art gilt on either of these is nowhere’s near that dark and red in person. Viewers really need to know this. The concord’s art gilt is a tad darker but both are pretty faded in person. It’s Cambridge’s greatest shortcoming aesthetically. They really need to take a page from Allan’s book and deepen their art gilts.

      I'm 44 this year, and own all three; Cameo, Concord and Turquoise. I love all three to bits! I am near sighted so I can read extremely small font when I don't have my contact lenses in, so the Cameo is my go to when I lay in bed, my church is housed in an old pub/concert hall with dim light and with lenses in that condition I do need something the size of the Turquoise. But the Concord really hits the sweet spot; it is versatile. You can read it laying in bed without it feeling newspaper size, but it is also large enough to be read with contact lenses if lighting isn't bad.

    The turquoise issue with "cramped" words in Jeremiah 2:23 is the same in the Cameo. I checked as soon as I saw this video. The turquoise and cameo are actually the same in everything the only difference is size. Hope this helped. Stay blessed brother. 🙏🙏

    You can get calfskin or calfsplit in CONCORD or Turquoise for about half of goatskin and is not floppy or hard to lay flat as goatskin with edge liner.

    First Lutheran bible reviewer I ran across, nice! I go to LCMS and love premium bibles. Looking to get a KJV to learn the older language better. Typically I use NKjV and for bible study classes the ESV since that’s what most Lutheran churches use. I am actually between Cambridge turquoise, Humble Lamb Lion , and slightly considering NKJV Schuyler Quentel because I heard it’s great and that’s what I mostly read from.

      My Cameo has been my go to for 3 years now. It’s KJV. I am looking at Canterbury from Schuyler next. I recently purchased the NLT as I feel better for the family learning. May get a high end ESV again someday but right now I’m content with the ESV we’re given in Church. Also becomes easier with apps like YouVersion. I have been peeping the LSB there and if Schuyler ever prints it I think it’d be a must have.

    Good review! I also am partial to Cambridge Bibles - two Pitt Minions, one Clarion, one Cameo. and one Concord. While it is true that the Schuyler Canterbury has a much better glossary of outdated English words than the Concord, I still think the Concord (and the Cameo) are two of the best KJV Bibles you can own. Although I don't have a Turquoise, I am very much looking forward to getting the NKJV version of the Cambridge Topaz which I believe is coming soon.

    • @guymontag349
      @guymontag349 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ASA_1347 Both the Cameo and Concord are outstanding KJV choices. Both are sized perfectly, easy to carry, and easy to read. Both have the Epistle Dedicatory to King James, identical concordances, and the excellent Cambridge maps (15 of them). However, the Concord adds the Translators Notes to the Reader (KJV onlyists, take note!), a short glossary of words that have changed meaning or have fallen out of general use, and a very informative Bible Dictionary located between the concordance and the maps. And, in my humble opinion, the Concord also has the best center column references of any Bible I've used. Choosing between the two isn't easy, but I hope this helps. God bless!

    If Cambridge still produced that brown goatskin, I would buy one in a heartbeat!
    I ended up with a green goatskin Topaz KJV instead and I absolutely love it! I just love brown bibles, especially with raised hubs and they are becoming a rare thing. I went to CBP to buy a brown water buffalo FY Turquoise and they want $239 for that bible nowadays! What? That's actually what drove me to the evangelical bible page and a new Cambridge. Why pay premium Bible prices unless you're getting a truly premium bible? CBP doesn't use premium paper, art gilt edges, and aren't printed and bound by Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands. All of which im fine with if the price reflects that. I already own 5 CBP bibles before this price increase happened. I guess I'll stick with the truly premium bible publishers from now on. Looking hard at the Cambridge concord in the marbled mahogany calfskin from evangelical. It's brown, FY, nice ribbons, premium everything, and it's Cambridge.

  • @HeartInLight
    @HeartInLight 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    These premium bibles all annoy me tbh. They all advertise red. But even the reddest ones on allans, are still slightly leaning towards the pink side. They all need to learn what red looks like. I bought one with blue. Just so it would actually be not pink for once. I would prefer no color vs having a pink bible.
    My concord in psalms 27 verse 6, willsing is ran together and then will sing at the end of the same verse. They really need to check things. Mine has many pages that are less bold. And lots of spots where the ink is nearly dry seemingly and prints poorly leaving bits of the letters out.
    For the price I paid? I would have bought 2 Nelsons with 36gsm paper that were also goatskin. And had 50 bucks leftover. I know because I bought 2 before the cambridge. And while its nice to read. And is smaller like i needed while also being bold. The paper is super thin and fragile feeling. And the inconsistencies of the print is really bad for that price point.
