The animations are totally evolving! This one was SUPER cool. And y'all killed it obviously. You always do 😍
@@The8BitBigBand Yes! Indeed!!
I put my heart into this one's animation, so great to see so many folks like it!
Tho in the end of the animation they made the elementary mistake of throwing King Bob-omb off the cliff :D
@@terveystiede4931 oof! You got me :p I originally had him just get tossed and explode into the star, but I thought a cliff-throw would look more visually exciting so I snuck that in instead. Haha, Leave it to the internet to never miss the facts!
Awesome content all along. Love what you are doing, keep going!
That 16th note offset sequence thing is so absurdly hip. This arrangement is exquisite.
My little stamp of uniqueness to one of video game musics greatest anthems :)
It always surprises me yet I absolutely love it
@@The8BitBigBand how I hear it in my head every time now. Absolutely inspiring stuff
I'm not musically inclined - what does that mean please?
@Tomtative 0:57 if.you notice, this is the 4th repeat of the motif from before it (starts around 0:49). Except this time, and only this time, the entire sequence is shifted by one 16th note which gives it this imbalanced feeling. That imbalance is unexpected and clever. Thus interesting.
16th notes are just half as long as 8th notes, which is what the entire sequence is made of
Whenever listening to bomb omb battlefield, I always judge it on how well they nail the opening-
*Listens to the opening
Nice
Honestly that is a very hilariously true rule of thumb for this song haha
Have you heard this one? th-cam.com/video/xFLoUr4kEEM/w-d-xo.html
Kinda like Rhapsody in Blue
Except on this song you need everyone to be on the same page, where on Rhapsody in Blue you just need one good clarinetist
Putting your wallet on the snare drum is very important drum technique
It's where the money is!
Have they not made less expensive replacement to putting weight on the snare yet?
Great ad hoc mute, as long as it's leather
1077mikev how is it expensive?
@@RM22201 youre literally putting your cash on the line
You must fight with honor! It is against the royal rules to throw the king out of the ring!
Now here's a true fan!
Lol, I was so confused as a (non English speaking) kid when king Bob-omb just wouldn't go down after throwing him off an effing mountain. Fond memories.
And then his ass throws YOU off the mountain lmao
ArcticJaguar725 👍🙂
that walking bassline that kicks in at 3:20. it gets me every. single. time. i love it so much
Damn. What an arrangement; what a performance; and what a video! Hats off to all involved but also the mixer and editor. Damn this is good.
I find myself coming back to this video again and again every week.
Dude, I really hope people realize what you did with that animation..
it's not just random Mario action, you're literally going through the 64 level from a 2d perspective.. that is just so f****** awesome
Bumping this up
And its also synchronised to the music !
recreating the level with the SNES All-Stars SMB3 style along with the cartoonish touch is so badass, I just love Mario's eye's popping out when he shoots out of the cannon, along with the arrangement going gospel, everything hits right in the nostalgia
Literally didn't realize this until you pointed it out! And I've watched this video many, many times
It feels like a 1:1 recreation at first, then builds a hecking skyscraper off of it. I love it.
Props to making the instruments sound like an HQ restoration of the original song!
@@The8BitBigBand I see.
Love the rhythm-matched animation! Good job you guys!
Aww, thank you! I appreciate the love!
Very good arrangement! I easily dislike it when people go "too far" with arrangements where the original theme is lost. This is a good mix of being very creative while holding onto the original style and feel. Great solos, really love this rendition! Lots of fun!
2:26 that stacking of fourths is insane.
It's in the theme tune to Recess! Always bugged me where I knew it from 😄
The saxophone flares, whatever those are called @0:45 , I dig the hell out of.
3:38 oh my that scream note! This was great, especially the solo on the saxophone!
It’s impossible to watch/listen to these covers without smiling. Love you guys!
The green Luma I obviously didn’t mean literally. Thanks for being obtuse, though.
Yes!!! This so much!!
I couldn't stop dancing to the rhythm hahaha
you are damn right!!!!
top notch arrangement and playing as always! that double time at the end was great
@@The8BitBigBand Last minute ideas are usually the best ones
You guys need to be hired by Nintendo. Seriously, this amazing.
I would hope they're thrown right in at the deep end and get handed Mario Kart 9.
with the throwback galaxy in SMG2 I could've sworn they already were
These are just... so good. Also really makes me appreciate the original music way more, you really bring it to life.
The 8-Bit Big Band definitely deserved.
That lead trumpet 🤯
1:15 When the groove is fonky
Pro Tip:
always keep your wallet right on the snare drum in case the police stops you for being too groovy
absolutely, NO cool dudes. Very illegal.
Tom Hill a man of quality I see
Police can't keep up with the goove!
Every musician kills it here, and the arrangement is phenomenal. Honestly, it makes me want to just get up and start moving and grooving, especially during the double time section at the end. Masterful performance.
Y DO I LIKE THIS SO SO MUCH THAT I COME BACK TO IT EVERY LIKE DAY IVE DISCOCERED THIS LIKE 2 YRS AGO WHATS WRONG WITH ME, TOO ADDICTIVE
I cant tell what's better, the music of the amazing animation with it
Geeze, that rhythmic animation was lovely! Great editing!
Thanks man. I try to animate these with gusto!
Here’s your 69th like 😉
I like how it turns into a gospel shout at the end
0:54 makes my drummer stank face come out like crazy. Such a sick section.
i love the 16th offset at 0:58
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels, keep up the amazing work! Love your music!
0:54
Lucky Girl.. Close call..
This whole channel is just criminally under-subscribed.
With the level of effort that Charlie puts into every single arrangement, alongside the sheer cost of booking such studio time, videographer time, animator time, as well as the involvement of so many brilliant instrumentalists, this is something I'd expect to see from an outright game publisher, not as a passion project.
It's just so absolutely incredible to live in a world where something as beautiful as all of these covers exists. I'm super exicited to see what Charlie and the rest of the 8BBB have in store for 2022.
So glad you're enjoying!! Definitely a labor of great love, but well worth it!!
@@The8BitBigBand On top of that, it's reminiscent of Disney's Mickey Mouse Works!
yeh music is under appreciated full stop
The brass section is on point. My hairs stood up when I heard when they came in and even more as they kept going! Good job y’all! My God!!! Everyone did exceptionally well!
The audio mixing, the animations, the arrangement, the acoustics, the musicians, the balance, the sax solo, the syncopated variations on the melody, the rock organ, the stylizations, and oh so smooth and tight and the same time. Phenomenal. Everyone knows this piece and I think you did really well.
MY BAND DIRECTOR IS LETTING US PLAY THIS FOR OUR JAZZ BAND OMG OMG OMG
Same
Wait....
Don't I know you? 😂
Hi Leland
I've listened to this for five hours now.
literal goosebumps
I'm really enjoying these covers
Excellent as always! I love, uh, basically everything about this. Especially, like every time, the great soloing! Argh you folks are so good!
Can not get enough of this big band performance! You guys rock!
2:55 *sensual saxophone intensifies*
The Part from 0:00 to 4:03 Was really good!
Really? Cause I thought 4:03 was pretty bad
The thing is lol, the music started at 0:06 and ended at 3:48
4:04 could not be found. How ironic.
I think it’s broken at 4:03 I can’t here any music
@@evanchristman6110 that's the joke
You guys really wanted to make it hard for the first trumpets 😂
All jokes aside, this was really well written. It’s not often I come across a video game transcription this well made. The contrast between certain parts, especially close to the end, really brings out the song. Easy subscription from me!
Really enjoyed this, guys. Great job!
This is my favorite Mario game of all times and your arrangement and animations are brilliant and eye-watering. Thank you for this tribute!
this is the most amazing thing i have ever seen/heard
I literally searched for this very video two days ago, you guys are great, love the off beats, and the solo, and the whole arrangement, awesome stuff indeed!
Cute animation. It gives me flashbacks to Mario Teaches Typing.
Why???
Golden.
The performances are incredible and the animations are always on-point!!
Just found this channel, immediately subscribed after hearing this. How have I missed this content for so long?! Fantastic stuff guys!
The problem with arrangements and performance of this quality is that, for jazz aficionados like myself...once you hear something so beautifully layered and intriguingly syncopated (let alone the video-game nostalgia)...how in the world are you supposed to go back to the radio?!? You all belong at a certain 10 Columbus Circle! As soon as you book a night, I'll buy my plane ticket from Vancouver to NYC; I'm serious. [As a drummer and bassist with love for the whole band--my favourite parts: those response lines from the saxes from 0:45-0:53 (brilliantly balanced); the syncopated variation with those off-beat 16th hits from 0:58-1:02 (entirely unexpected); the 6/4 + 4/4 bars, with that harmonic pause, leading into the sax solo, from 1:19-1:29 (delightfully disorienting); the 5/4 plus organ hit to hurl forward the sax from 1:31-1:35 (downright dirty); the descending horn walking from 1:52-2:00 (cleverly counter-melodic); the 7/8 plus 9/8 (my best guess?!?) with that soaring brass + reed line from 2:24-2:28 (man, you all are together!); the wall of pure, warm sound from 2:45-2:54; the entire end (bari BADness + rhythm section drop-out + DOUBLE TIME with walking bass!). Hope this (looong) list expresses my love.]
1:23 practise for my solo
Charlie, you really are a master arranger. Thanks so much for all the videos on your channel.
I love you all with every fiber of my being.
That's a lot of fibers.
So many fibers you could knit 100 wool sweaters with them.
I just can't figure out why this channel doesn't have millions of suscribers, they do such an amazing work.
I agree with you, the brilliance of these arrangements and performances is so underappreciated. Rather like these boys (whom I love): th-cam.com/video/xFLoUr4kEEM/w-d-xo.html
This sounds like it belongs in Super Mario Odyssey, it's TOP
I'm a fan since the first time I heard you guys... Every music I fall more and more in love
@@The8BitBigBand I'm from Brazil, a home fan of Latin Rhythms
Love the Bossa on Four-side(Earthbound) and the mambo from Mario Bros (it's really hard to see a real bossa and not just a Latin jazz of sorts). Can't wait for the next album, keep up the good job guys, thanks for this wonderful opportunity!
The bassist at 0:29 is particularly loving it
das me haha
My man Super Barilaro Bruz!
Friendlyjordies brought me here, to this MASTERPIECE of a remix. Love it!
Andrew Gould's solos are so clean and dirty in the best ways. Wonderful work.
best cover ive seen in my opinion
3:38 "You must fight with honor! It's against the rules to throw the king out of the ring!
0:18 didn't know that Pam Beesley played the Saxophone, hehe
I live the bari sax baseline at 1:02 and the small "solo" at 2:54, especially as a bari sax player, I love hearing small things like that 😁
I know how you feel especially because the bari is used for bass in concert bands
Hell yeah
An awesome jazzy cover of this very emblematic theme =3
My ears have been blessed
Anyone hear a bit of dolphin shoals in that alto sax solo?
Like every other solo lol
Its because there are similar resolutions and jumping around. They're in the same key so that helps too
@@1obamafanwhogotdeported712 the person who first replied to the original comment has a smaller dick than me.
I have waited and waited for this video. Having this song be the first one I heard from you guys but not having the really cool animated video was kind of worrying because I loved this song so much that I wanted to see what you would do with the video. I am more than happy to see this. Its amazing!
But can you play this with half a trumpet valve press?
A valve press is a valve press, you can't say it's only half
No, half valve presses definitely are a thing
But first, we need to sing about parallel universes
If your dream was to bring all the saxophonists together for one big jamboree, I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen
@@thegoodmudkip3652 YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO
All your arrangements are just so so good. I love the little ways you mess with the rhythmic and chord structures of these songs while still capturing and even enhancing the essence of the original piece. Also organ was a lovely and subtle touch that did not go unnoticed.
I'm amazed and completely grateful that I'm able to enjoy such a wonderful musical arrangement and execution for free. Thank you.
You guys!!! Gah this is so amazing, keep shredding these nostalgic gems
This is awesome, from that iconic start that instantly took me to my chilhood to the end, it was perfect.
I'm never disappointed with your work, guys. I really love the mix too, I wish I could get such a clean sound. I love the harmonies at 2:26
Those are stacked perfect 4th intervals at 2:26. They sound amazing!
Damn I've been slacking on the audio game, this is absolutely incredible! My monitors are giving cheers!
Great sounding as always, keep it up you awesome people! Quality video game covers regularly is exactly what I need in my life and these past few months have shown me I've found it :)
Quite possibly one of the best songs ive ever heard. Was searching for the regular bomb omb battlefield ost, found this. Blessed🤞
1:00 I love that glissando so much.
Wow, this is as amazing as always! Good job!!
This was just featured in one of Dunkey's videos. Hope this blows up now because you guys totally deserve it!
Love the animation!! It’s so adorable
Bill Clinton has been awfully quite since this dropped
I have your album on Apple Music. It’s absolutely amazing! I showed it to my parents and they love it. Great job!
I just got the privilege to see Schonig perform this live with the Ball State jazz band - he’s a wonder!
You know video games has become an integral part of human culture when there's a public for orchestra renderings of old video game music. I LOVE IT !
Also jazz: th-cam.com/video/xFLoUr4kEEM/w-d-xo.html
Straight fire y’all! So great!
Andrew Gould is a baaaaad man
BRAVO!!!! Loved every second of it! And the animations was beautiful! Loved the part of the walking bob-ombs in the screen!! Standing ovation!!
2:46 *e a r g a s m*
AmtrakGuy365 uses this song in many of his videos, that is what brought me here...
What an absolute delight every single aspect of this video is.
I just wanted to say that I loved the music, and how perfectly the animations timed up with this one!
Incredible!! Thank you!!
And the animations are so cool!
Really great sound, I love your covers!
Man that was EPIC! I play this tune all the time and it was fantastic to hear it played by such a stellar big band.
Honestly, this is the best Jazz version of Bob Omb Battlefield. I can’t stop replaying. Good job guys!
This is something of an amazing video omfg ! Well done guys !
This is wonderful and everything that is right about the world. Thank you!
my band in college is playing this arrangement!
