I think road trips on Dreamy are my favorite... but I am a road tripping kinda girl. I love how you described the aroma of the trees and the rain - there is just something about fresh mountain air that is priceless!! (I have talked about bottling the air in Glacier National Park!) And mentioning driving and trying to see the views..... I can not say how many times I have pulled over to the side of the road just to step out of my car and take in the views. Your excitement whilst driving gave me the biggest grins - love it!

Paddy my friend, you were driving through my old neighborhood on 1226! I lived in Tham Lod village of Pang Mapha and every weekend I would get on my Honda Wavy and do a loop on those very roads. So beautiful. So grateful that you are out there capturing footage.

I really enjoy your videos but this one brings back so many great memories of riding Northern Thailand a couple of years ago, I live in Darwin Australia and am hoping to come and live in Pai when I can get out of Oz, plan on buying a bike and exploring some more. Biking in northen Thailand is one of my favourite things ever! I tried taking the 1226 a few years ago before its was sealed with some mates. They had had laid down the substrate but not the asphalt on top and it was like marbles (bigger chips than gravel)! One mate fell off straight away, and I then spend 1/2 an hour getting all 4 bikes back down! It looks great now. Love the roads! Thanks for the vicarious adventures. Carr on...!

Never realized how beautiful Thailand is the scenery there is amazing I love the smell of mountain air especially after the rain I think your pot of gold is the beauty you get to see each day while traveling Thailand on Dreamy. Another great video Paddy thank you for posting.

Paved roads everywhere in Thailand even in far away villages. Those are excellent for travel and driving no matter how type of vehicle you have and can go everywhere

I've been learning the loop for over 10 years, so I can understand how you got confused over where the hairpin was coming.
After you've done the loop a few times the Nurburgring is pretty much a go-kart track in comparison :)

Paddy. I think you have set the bench mark for discovering Thailand, you can call this “Route 76” which has a ring to it! I think people will be attempting to do this route for many years to come (maybe without the doubling back on themselves like you have been forced to do 555) Do take care & i look forward to your next step of your journey. I hired a Honda CB 500 to ride the loop out of Chiangmai.
I have to say one of the most scenic rides I have had in my life surpassed only by the West coast 500.

That road is awesome! On my road trip January last year from Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Pai and Mae Hong Son and back, the last stretch was the best ever.

“Smell the worms….” Now I’ve heard it all. Love the road trip video Paddy! I’m taking December off and coming to Thailand to visit a buddy in the south, but I might just have to fly to a Chang Mai and rent a bike for a week or two. Loving the two wheeled nomadic life.
