some people wondering , there is some other instrumental but u don’t see on the video and why ? . We are live-recording keyboard , drums , sax , bass . but also playing backing truck which has guitar , other horn etc ( the instruments u don’t see on the video ) . MiMi is hearing the click and the truck during performance in ear 👂 . So we can much with the truck too .
..Tried to break it down for non-musician people but sorry if it’s hard to understand .🥲🙏
Excellent’
Love it! And great job explaining the click track to non-musicians. Anytime you hear instruments you don't see folks, it's a click track, often just called a "track" or "playing (singing) to track".
Well, I guess she means backing tracks that are pre-recorded and played back togther with a click. The click gives the drummer an accoustic guidance that she plays along with to keep the band and the pre-recorded tracks in sync.
You girls are absolutely amazing, so funky! Love it! 😚👌👱♀️
..this is so good..well done😀👌
At 75 it's refreshing and nostalgic to see young people today making the genre of groove that launched my career as a jazz-funk musician 50 years ago.
Thought you were gonna say they are appropriating blacks 😂
@@thatdude3977 Yes, but that wouldn't be the case. This is clearly 'white people juzz-funk', more like Tower Of Power, Weather Report and so on.
@@Arkturbettel blacks made all modern music!!
Funk never left. It just got mangled by rappers for a while
And that's the thing .. Asia has kept up the legacy, while America has moved on to really shitty, regressive music
The older I get the more I see that everything runs in cycles. Case in point. I old enough to have experience Funk in the 70's, and low and behold it's a thing again.
Speaking as a pretty nonstop funk aficionado, its never really stopped being a thing. TH-cam's simply made it easier to find it after it stopped getting radio play. Living in there states since the 90's I've always managed to find healthy funk scenes, especially in the southeast like Georgia
And it's more polished this time round... At least as I see it
My gues is that in the 70s you didn’t find a group of Japanese girls playing funk
@Big bankie Bobby Still right.
@Big bankie Bobby get nine haircuts zoomer
These women are PHENOMENAL! WHOO! Each lady is amazing on her instrument! That drummer is out of this world, the saxophonist is crazy amazing, the keyboardist is gifted beyond measure, and the bassist is totally in the groove! Wowza! You ladies have the gift and soul of FUNK! ❤🎉 BRAVO!!!
How many times have I played the intro 😮 well check it out when she the drummer is spotlighted the expression on her face says she's the boss.
Or is this AI?
Apa khabar sihat tk pagi ni saya tak dapat nak buat apa pun kita boleh buat apa pun kita tak tau lagi bila nak buat kerja dulu ya sayang dah sampai ke tempat biasa lah tu nak buat apa pun tak tahu lah 😮😮
Groove knows no race or nationality, and I do love how it unites us.

I beg to differ
As fan of old school funk I have to say those young ladies can jam.
And there smoking hot 🔥
All girl band, got the 80s j-jazz sound?? Damn 🔥
They can and how bout the way they look ?
Indeed they truly can JAM!
understatement
Listening to Japanese pop-rock-jazz-funky-electro music for 40+ yrs. And I always find something new and exciting. Bravissimo, young ladies!
My goodness. These youngladies r jamming.Appericiate a real artist with real live music. Yall go girls👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯💯💯💯💚💚💚💚❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

Some of us in the United States have to go to other countries that appreciate funk and soul more than our own country that originated it does. Thank you for the beautiful vibes, music, and keeping this genre alive.
Truth. Good thing the Japanese have been doing it since 70's and adding their own flavor.
@@rapid3638 LOL.... What flavor?
If you wanna be technical I appreciate the vibes but it sounds like something from the US. Japan always appreciated U.S culture
@@Rati0nalThinker Of course, it sounds like something from the U.S., since that is where the music originated. Still harder to find the music these days in the U.S.
It kind of reminds me of some of the other popular music from the U.S. from back in the 70's and 80's also. Music that got less and less play here but was still making hits in the UK through the 2000's. Impressed me to be honest. The same goes for Jazz artist from the 40's and 50's. The music lived on to a larger audience but on a different continent.
Jazz music is not as popular as it was in the 20s and 30s, but its still relevant. However, I'm from a big city I'm from New York and they have jazz outlets in Brooklyn and Manhattan as well Radio stations that play jazz. Jazz music itself has evolved into different genres of music.@@rapid3638
I lived in Japan (Kyoto / Osaka) for four years, and the quality of musicianship was always nothing short of phenomenal.
Wow lucky you I have heard so much about Osaka unfortunately I didnt make it pass Tokyo when I visited Japan several years ago.
Man, my hands down to your group… Everything is working exactly like it’s supposed to work together like a true funky, blues, and jazzy band… I been living in New Orleans to The House of Blues and worked at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and this would be something to see live…🙏🏾
Salute to you Brother! 💯💪🙏✊ It would be good I'm sure, and much more appreciated if they truly love and appreciate where rhe foundation of this Musical sound originated from and the Foundational Black American People that put their Hearts and Souls into creating this Beautiful Music. 💯💪💜🖤🤝B1 #4Life
That 70s funk. What yall know about that? Grrrreat job girls
@@fredicashannon5552, hey, my family was all about the 70’s at The Joy Theater down on Canal St and going to see Maze and Frankie Beverly at the Budweiser Superfest back in the day…
Yes, excellent.
Thought you were gonna cry racism 😂
Dam, took me 2 years to come across these talented ladies. Playing what I used to hit the jazz clubs for, much love.
I stumbled upon this doing a search for some new jazz music and found this group. These young ladies are phenomenal! Really like the cool jazz / funk sounds from the 70's!
These young ladies are phenomenal. I like the still of their music. I could listen to it all day. Loving it. Stay original. Stay original. ❤❤
I could listen longer than they could play ! Loop it
I've never been so jealous of a bass guitar
I love it

The anti auto tune. Young people appreciating the genres and actually learning instruments and striving to be the best at what they do.
Good music and great musicians have always been around. But you won’t hear them on the radio! Recording companies don’t want the masses listening to great music, they pay the radio stations to play that pop trash. Why? A good question
long live manualtune
Thats Japan bra~
you so corny

The sax solo in this performance is one of those rare feats of musical craft where you find it more and more brilliant the longer you listen to it.
I guess you never listen to Brecker play this is like bubble gum funk

A hot chick jamming is always prettier sounding to the eyes
🤣 original commentor has no experience in sax. She was good, not great. Her lung capacity needs to improve, her scratchy points were an extension of just that. That is the only quirk I have with her. She will be great with a bit more practice.
My thoughts exactly..
She was great, flaws and all.
Giving me vibes of 70’s musical group “Taste Of Honey” 😍
How?
I have a vinyl record that is shaped like a fan from taste of honey lol. Don’t know the group that well but never seen a vinyl like that lol
Yup! And Patrice Rushen as well when she freestyles and grooves 🎶🎵…
It is stolen from us. What do you think? We need to stop praising these thieves.

From here on out, this will be the band playing in my dreams. Wonderful music & ultra beautiful ladies.
These Beautiful GENIUSES Make Med Very Proud To See & Hear Them Grooving This Magnificently!
Isnt it amazing that no matter what language you speak, music like this, everyone understands. Very talented ladies

Holy Moly! I just discovered this group by accident yesterday and oh man, I'm lost for words! These are 4 incredibly talented young musicians who have the funk in their souls. This is top level funk at the highest level! Jeez these girls play like veterans who've been playing this kind of groovy funk for 20+ years. This is a truly extraordinary group and I have to say I'm totally hooked now to their incredible sound! Pure genius!!
Not to mention they're gorgeous 🥰 But I too just stumbled across this group & WOW👍🏿

This takes me back to the 70's 🇿🇦🇿🇦🕺🕺
I totally love it love it love it. Beautiful ladies, respectfully dressed , no heavy makeup, no tattoos showing. And talented to the Max. May God continue to bless you, and thank you for keeping this genre of music alive.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is an odd comment
@@corbanzo2666 that's an odd picture on your profile. 🤔
The way she dances with and plays the saxophone is unworldly. How beautiful. I love how the layer of sounds. Thank you for showing us funk as a team of women musicians!
That Sax is bigger than she is and she handling her business
Totally agree make you get in the grove
Those women are so talented and well composed! They sound like early Jamiroquai and I'm all here for it. 🎶
Because I am of a 'certain age' I am reminded more of The Crusaders and Average White Band in the 1970s.

Amazing riff! Wow, such young people, playing this Funk Jazz is SO inspiring. Wow,...wonderful!
Does flute and horns equal jazz?
You obviously don''t know what funk is.
Old 70's stuff like the CTI label produced in the 70s with artists like Grover Washington. Gotta love it. Good going gals.
Wow, very groovy ladies! Love that session, you are all fantastic, thank you for sharing.
I love the space behind the keyboard solo
17 years old in 1977....played alto saxophone in schools band/jazz band. Lived this era and though I am a total metal, head banging oldster, I completely dig this sound!

High Compliments! Terrific, smooth, enjoyable...and SO right. Wishing you so much success. Thank you!

It's like a smooth jazz funk ...I enjoyed this tune...TY you ladies keep them coming !!
I love the groove! I have yall on repeat. I'm officially a fan ❤
Almost 10 million views in 2 years. I am not shocked. This groove is SO GOOD.
true. but it's not the only reason though
a lot of them by me :)
I pretty much play this because of MiMi.
And they deserve it, they sound as great as they look
OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY FUNK IS MAKING A COME BACK THIS IS SO GOOD HOLY SHIT
I cut my teeth on Funk! A forgotten art form in my humble opinion.

Way too cool! What a sound and tight groove - East of Tokyo and West of L.A.! These ladies really know how to play! But it comes as no surprise, as the Japanese really know their jazz. All I can say is that Japan’s take on smooth jazz, fusion, and funk is like hot butter on toast! You’ve got a new fan!!!
This is really awesome. And I love the fact that "bass face" just seems to be a part of music.
Just plain awesome. The bass work, the Sax , the key board, the percussion by a Japanese Girl band is one of the best & classy renditions in the world. God Bless these musical souls
Боже, какой кайф! Старый добрый фанк. Что-то явно классическое и родное в каждом звуке! Молодцы, девчонки! Безупречно сыграно. Каждая - красотка в своём деле! Браво!

Good music is ageless. This just proves that great musicians can play anything & make their own sound!!!❤❤❤
Ай, молодцы девчата! Настоящие джазмены. Прекрасно. Я меломан и музыкант в прошлом - клавишник. Я знаю, что это такое. Это великий труд.

All the instruments flow so smooth together......Awesome!!!!
Totally amazing exciting and voluptuous jam! I was hooked on the first base line.
Wow!! The more I hear Japanese musicians, the more I respect them. They studied Salsa, jazz and now funk and have practically perfected it. Amazing!! I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a big band out there somewhere. I’m looking for this band when I’m there in January of 2023.
Gosh I love these grooves! Drums dry and steady but stylish, a solid base complimenting the drums and driving the song, a simple funky guitar and keys, and a killer saxophone. Absolutely beautiful!
First time I've heard your music and seen your vids, downloaded everything you've done, amazing tunes and vibes, can't stop listening, on repeat❤
