The best thing about seeing Prince back in the day, was that You could buy front row or almost front row through sheer determination. Just be first in line at a Ticketmaster. This usually meant going there around 9pm and “camping out” overnight until the next morning when ticket sales started at 10am. You brought a blanket and parked your bum on the sidewalk outside the door. And the kicker? The front rows tickets were the same price as any main floor. I paid about $80/ticket

Same 💜 he's been in my life since I was 12 yrs old in 1978 and I'll be 55 this December. It's because of his life, love, music that I'm here today. Prince got me thru some very difficult times, it is his music that heals the spirit and embraces you with truth. He lives on with each beat of my grateful heart💜
For me, from the 1st time I heard "I wanna be your lover" on Kasey Kasems American Top 40 Countdown but I lived in Europe then, so that was super early compared to the rest of the continent.
As brilliant as he was in every other area (and he was!), live shows were his special place, maybe because it was a group effort of "real musicians making real music" and he loved that. What a performer. It's my hope that as these videos of his live shows are released, more and more people who only ever thought of him as 'that purple rain guy' see how much he grew from that very early success into the GOAT that he is, was, and forever will be. My heart is with him always.
It's true in many ways the only reason Prince had a band was because he couldn't play all the instruments at once When it came to recording he did it all by himself Absolutely amazing!!!
I agree. Id add a little, he sounds better live, you can hear all the parts. Sounds amaxing. Back in the day, i dont think he was amazing at recording, see Charade. I love Renato and John B. Sounds amazing
For many moments I forgot where I was and transported to the audience. Bass in my face, beautiful harmonies, Morris on keys, kick drum, shockin out 💃🏽and singing along. When Lover Girl hits out of nowhere and blends 😃. What a treat for us all these years later. 💜
I got hit in the face with Lover Girl, and then thought, well of course he just did that, why would I be shocked? I miss him every day. Truly the best musician and entertainer ever.
@@lisagnoza9819 Lovergirl transports me instantly to being 10 y/o in 1985. Oblivious this was Prince written at that time- and I’d just become a Prince fan. “Of course he did that” sums it up perfectly!
Sometimes I still can't believe this man is no longer with us I still can't accept that he's gone and people these days dare to call themselves artists
You are not alone ….omwille never get over His passing Luckily He Left us with so many Masterpieces to enjoy until it’s our time to leave this earth and we can go party with Him ….
The fact he rarely played some of his songs but still remembered how to play them is what trips me out. Some bands with the best musicians admit they forget how to play some songs thats why they just say fuck it lol dude was something else for real.
I truly miss prince .. this world and time is lost without him ..the greatest to ever walked the Earth in music ..I'm a fan for life since For You in 1978
The night my dad died on the 1st of August 2021 I sat on the step of the house I grew up in waiting for the funeral home to pick him up at 2am and listened to this. It was both surreal and very real at the same time. This song will always have that moment in time. He was a few days shy of 86.
This is exactly what makes him the best live performer of all times! Stretching a song for minutes, funky jamming, I just could watch and listen endlessly! So happy that I managed to see hin perform live a few times here in Europe. Rest in Peace, Prince. And now, on the one....
This nearly made me cry at the end when it was just Prince playing the guitar as everyone's chanting "let the rain come down, let the rain come down, down"
The thing that impresses me about this version is how Prince is forming the song as it goes with directions like “groove” or “just the beat,” “lead lines,”“sing it again.” If it was performed 10 minutes earlier or later it would have been the same song but quite different. The band is so tight they can roll with these changes without missing a beat.
I don’t think Prince ever was underrated. He was always known for his guitar skills. A lot of great guitar players gave him his props, and he outperformed anyone that he played with. The man could play just able any instrument, and he taught himself how to play them all. Not to mention his creativity and writing ability. Every concert he just about sold out, while re-inventing himself in the process.
Incredible, Prince, just incredible. I'm young and I started to save money to see him in concert and then he left us. Us new generation of fans miss him equally as well and the best thing about his music, not a day goes by that I discover something of his that's new to me. Those who grew up with his music and saw him live, I admire you.
Same here I'm of the new generation aka Gen-Z and i adore prince my parents were 70s and 80s kids so they grew up with Michael Jackson and many more i just wanna go back to the 80s
The output of work, the versatility, the variety, the ability to always be IN the music. Prince lived for this, it was his life and the world lost big the day it lost him

This was just a B-side. For me one of his best tracks he ever made🔥🔊👍
It truly is
that bass tone is out of this world
Ida the bassist is an awsome musician!
I've loved Prince from the first time I heard him.
This was a B side. Dude was as prolific as The Beatles, both sides are hits.
John Blackwell, we miss you man. Those fills are soooo tasty. Love from England x
"The" drummer for Prince.
Real music by real musicians. He knew what was going on.
Facts. I’m sick of computer beats and auto tune. Computers have their place, but they can’t replace real instrumental work
That's right! He knew it. Glad he did.💜🎉
And the shout out to Teena Marie, this man is a legend…..
dude is so OP hes performing, directing and producing in real time.
Very classy way 2 honor Teena Marie. Much respect.
For our 17th Wedding Anniversary in 2020, I sang and recorded a version odf this song I called "17 Years" for my wife. She loved it. Thank you, Prince, for all your great music.
I would love to hear that, man!
me too! thats so cool
🙏💜🙏
Your wife is a lucky woman!
@@CNP-rn3gd No, I'm the lucky one to have her in my life.
And that, is how live performance is done.
He wasn't just Prince...he was a king
Putting all his genius aside, his shows are definately a participation gig. Everyone is in the band.
Damn, he looks sharp, whole production was on point
It’s 12:19AM in LA right now I was on my way to bed, got this notification and I’m up here dancing. Knowing I got work 7 hours from now! I miss him so much 💜💜💜💜
Dancing too, sis
💜💜💜💜
Get your rest sweetie! Just pick up were u left off! Prince will b waiting! Sing along on the way to work! Have a bless day! And if it's raining let the rains fall down!!!!!!
@@sammycoleman6101 😂 🙌🏾 💜💜💜
Totally awesome. What a musician. I miss him.
He wasn’t all about himself. Love how he always gave props to his gifted musicians.
Hands down the greatest artist ever. He was always a fan of his bands.
His live vocals are identical to his recorded vocals. No autotune, no studio manipulation, it’s all him.
His mic was always on!
Definition of a musical genius
Because he's something the music business is lacking these days; A MUSICIAN!
This is one of my favorite songs by him 🤧😆👍
Mine too!☔️
Always one of my favorites, love how he incorporated 'Lovergirl' into '17 Days'...#TheGeniusOfPrince
😭😭😭🕊🕊🕊
Mine,Too!!!! 💃

“Man was never supposed to die...we were given everlasting life, by the Creator.” Prince, Paisley Park, 1999
And we still do have everlasting life you have to receive it! it's a free gift Our God our creator he gave his only begotten son As a sacrifice for our sins Receive and believe Yeshua/Jesus 🙏
@@cocokippen7137 AMEN 🙏🏼🙌🏻
Was Prince a Christian? Was he a follower of Jesus?
@@judysmith3249 Yes he was. He sang and preached of God and Jesus his entire existence. Look up his song "The Cross"
"Don't die without knowing the Cross" awesome song. He did it live on the Sign o the Times movie during the love Sexy tour. Best version I've seen of it. There are many other songs too.. but that's the most known song.
@@TheUnderCoverMother2020 Thank you for taking the time to share . I will listen to the songs.
I saw prince four times every concert was flawless.
I saw him four times as well. Wish I would have attended more of his concerts.
I can’t even remember how many times I saw him live…..but was never disappointed.
He was flawless also! The most gorgeous man to be born on this planet.
It was a great time my old friend rest in peace Mr Harrison Hunter 1973-2022
This is just next level . RIP John Blackwell , PRINCE . What a groove.
still miss him,he pissed perfection without even trying....r.i.p peter,he bought this for my sister,he came from wokingham in berks, near the three frogs pub,he would have been about 48 ish now, sadly he didn't get that far, life is so unfair,i miss prince so much it hurts,i"m 51 and will never be the same again, time forgets us all,2.32....no one else could ever aspire to do that...55.50 says
it all
I'm nearing 55 and have been with Prince since 78, I will die playing my Jams....L41A....Clap Ur hands Stomp Ur Feet! :)
Everything sounded and looked perfect. No wonder they saud he is a perfectionist!
He WASNT a perfectionist..that's the point
genius. no doubt
Prince was absolutely NOT a perfectionist. You're misinformed.
He loved what he did. When a person loves what they do, this is what it look like!
@@jonylawson73 Exactly. He wasn’t. He worked his ass off though. And it shows.
Spoken like Real Fan. So true 🎯
How did he perform such magic, and it doesn't even seem he has to try.such a loss of perfection we can never see again.
💜💜💜💜💜💜
The best band leader of some of the baddest bands to do it. R.I.P. Jon Blackwell. R.I.P. PRN. #NPG
There is nobody like Prince; he's truly one in a million! The Greatest Artist Of ALL TIME!
YES! I always feel like I'm a part of the audience when I watch Prince live! 💜
I feel you I was completely there!! Loved it !!!
@@lisagnoza9819 Lovergirl transports me instantly to being 10 y/o in 1985. Oblivious this was Prince written at that time- and I’d just become a Prince fan. “Of course he did that” sums it up perfectly!
RIP Teena Marie, RIP Prince Rogers Nelson, both of you are still truly missed!!!!!
amen to that
☔Let the rain come down☔
#princeforever
It was pouring rain the day Prince died, when the ambulance arrived at PP the rain was coming down hard💦 💦 #PurplerRain ☔️
Ida on bass and she’s killing it. He played with only the finest musicians
Yes
Sometimes I still can't believe this man is no longer with us I still can't accept that he's gone and people these days dare to call themselves artists
Still till this day my love for PRINCE will never fade. 💜💜🎵🎤
This Version is fire 😎🙌
Nobody will ever come close to his genius! 💜
100% true! Prince is, was & 4ever will B the most talented & most complete Musician & Artist of all time! ... O(+> 💜 4ever
This explains WHY Prince is the best electric guitarist of them all.
Yes🎉
REAL MUSIC BY REAL MUSICIANS 💜💜💜
I LOVE this so much. My heart is still bleeding...
« Real music by real musicians » thank you Prince. Exactly the reason why I play. No backing tracks world…
Legends Never die🐐🐐🐐
In complete command of the stage and his band every second of every show.
My one regret in life is i never witness an icon do work while he was alive😢
One of the best moments during this performance was him smiling while singing it. I hope good memories came across his mind during this performance🥺
I miss you Prince. I get too emotional watching this. A beautiful soul. I didn't cope well when he died. He meant so much to me.
You are not alone ….omwille never get over His passing
Luckily He Left us with so many Masterpieces to enjoy until it’s our time to leave this earth and we can go party with Him ….
Prince Rocks! As Sir Elton John said "He simply blows everyone else out of the water"! Prince 4ever love!
The fact he rarely played some of his songs but still remembered how to play them is what trips me out. Some bands with the best musicians admit they forget how to play some songs thats why they just say fuck it lol dude was something else for real.
That man WAS music!!!! I understand what you saying though
This has to be THE best live version of this song ever performed.
I've never even seen him perform this song before now.
I truly miss prince .. this world and time is lost without him ..the greatest to ever walked the Earth in music ..I'm a fan for life since For You in 1978
NEVER anyone who could compare to this man live. It was organic, powerful, emotional, everything music lovers could want.
My kids love this. They’ve always preferred real music by real musicians. He was a genius amongst us. RIP Prince RIP Teena Marie ✌️
Hard to believe. The talent was endless. Prince had so much more to share. RIP
The night my dad died on the 1st of August 2021 I sat on the step of the house I grew up in waiting for the funeral home to pick him up at 2am and listened to this. It was both surreal and very real at the same time. This song will always have that moment in time. He was a few days shy of 86.
He was the best! Long live Prince!
I got chills! Real Music! Real Musicians! RIP Prince "The Purple One" and Teena Marie "Lady Tee, Vanilla Child"!!! 💜💜
This is exactly what makes him the best live performer of all times! Stretching a song for minutes, funky jamming, I just could watch and listen endlessly! So happy that I managed to see hin perform live a few times here in Europe. Rest in Peace, Prince. And now, on the one....
I was blessed 2 see Him 13 times each time He came 2 Belgium…
He is in place of His own when it comes 2 live concerts
I miss Him , I truly do 💜🙌👏😢
I watch this everyday. This is greatness.
This nearly made me cry at the end when it was just Prince playing the guitar as everyone's chanting "let the rain come down, let the rain come down, down"
Like Prince said "Real Music by Real Musicians" he ain't never lied.
Can’t get enough of this concert! The quality and sound is amazing, especially in Dolby
Definitely one of the greatest of all time will be truly missed !!!
Real music by real musicians…..period!
This post shouldn’t have any negative comments! Timeless music!
The output of work, the versatility, the variety, the ability to always be IN the music. Prince lived for this, it was his life and the world lost big the day it lost him
The best entertainer, one of the best performers, best songwriters, best guitarists, best singers, best band leaders, one of the very best!
Damn straight. In Play that funky music, when he sez Can I Play My Guitar, for the nxt 5 mins,Im in heaven.
