Eric, you may run across this all the time and think 'Meh, nobody wants to see this'.
But for those of us that don't see this on a daily (or at least regular basis) it's rather informative.
Thanks for posting it no matter how trivial you think it is.

Great video. I am in the process of replacing a rusted out fuel tank on a 96 Jimmy and the guts fell out of the the line, just like you said it would. I thought I replaced all the rotten lines but when I when to run the pump for the first time, I quickly found a new bad spot.

Bonus weekend! Getting ready to shut it down and boom SMA video. Looks like someone has been working on that Evap...looked like new parts & lines. Man that crap rusts out so fast without protection. Every time I see rusted out crap I know I'm lucky working down here but it generates a lot of business. Hope you harvested a few deer!

I think you touched on a good idea there. Get one of those small cameras with a built in light that can snake in to hard to reach or see areas and view the area on a monitor. Would be way better than trying to get your head and shop light up in there. Better for those of us following along at home as well.

Hello from Finland! Nice to have that smoke machine. Here is my trick how to find leak in EVAP system. Hook your scan tool to monitor fuel tank pressure sensor and use compressed air to find leak. Just blow the air to different components and when you see action on pressure sensor signal you find the sweet spot.

I had the same motto of "don't touch notin" with refrigerant leaks. The service ports on residential a/cs are notorious leakers. So I would bust out the sniffer on the ports before touching them if I suspected a low charge.

I just dealing with evap stuff for the first time on a friends Suburban. In this case its a p1441 flow during non purge. I assume its seeing the tank pressure go down with the purge valve closed. I checked the purge valve and it flows slightly when I suck on it, so we are replacing that first.

    LOL, I don't do ANY socials ... aside from TH-cam comments. :D
I always love the EVAP vids, since that's the system I have the least amount of knowledge about. I never know what supposed to be closed when, and what is supposed to be open when. I need to just sit and watch EVERY EVAP vid all you guys have on TH-cam one rainy day.
Looked like a small pear, but those would be all rotted by this time of the year... and it would've splattered on the floor when you dropped it. I see some comments saying black walnut - probably what it is. Don't have many of those growing in MA anymore - never seen one before, so I couldn't tell ya. I'm just a mechanic, not a tree-ologist. :D

I only replaced the fuel filler cap on my 2002 model Holden Commodore because it was an obvious fault, the O ring was split on the cap.
It runs the 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine but Holden didn't fit a fuel tank pressure sensor so the P0442 code is not applicable to my car.
Instead I got just a P0171 (not even a P0174) code which is a lean code, it's the only other obvious leak since I replaced all of the vacuum hoses & I had the inlet manifold off to do a hydraulic lifter change ,so all of the seals & gaskets have been changed.
I replaced the purge control solenoid valve pipe with a piece of fuel hose because the old plastic one just vibrated & wore out in 2011.
In my car,the only other part other than the MAF Meter clamps which would leak air is the O ring around the fuel pump sender unit.
Yes, I've been looking into making my own smoke machine out of a jar of baby oil & a soldering iron !
