WHICH SMOKE MACHINE SHOULD YOU BUY?!? REDLINE VS AUTOOL MR CARTOOL

  • In today's video I share with you my newest tool. A Mr Cartool T130 Leak detection smoke machine. This tool is used to test engines for vacuum and oil leaks, as well as EVAP and exhaust systems. This smoke machine is great because it does not require any shop air compressor supply. It has a built in air compressor, so it is %100 mobile. The low price makes this tool a great deal, but the main question I have is. How does this tool stack up to my old school expensive Redline smoke machine? Watch as I put my two smoke machines side by side and compare the different features. We will talk about the pros and cons of both smoke machines, so that you can make the right decision when it comes to purchasing your own.

Great video Eric. Great review! I agree that it is probably too much pressure. I really love the Mr Cartool device. It's self contained! But I diagnosed a leaking intake manifold on a Chevy. When it was cold an air leak would develop. I had to turn the pressure kinda high to open up the leak. A 1 psi pressure wouldn't have opened up the leak to reveal it. I agree that it has too much pressure. Imagine a gas tank having 15 PSI in it from the machine. You should talk to the people of the device to redesign it to allow the pressure to be lower and regulate-able.

Thank you for your time and videos! I greatly appreciate them.
This is what i was warned about with the Mr. Cartool=
pressure gauge is worthless - flow meter is worthless.
but it makes good smoke and good pressure. Do not buy this for evap testing. It would probably work well for intercooler testing.
Thank you for being honest. I greatly appreciate that and your knowledge you share!👑

A buddy of mine had to pay for a customer's car he damaged using this smoke machine. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this to test evap systems. U can't regulate that machine even if u try. It cost more in damages to even risk going that cheap for a smoke machine. Only thing that machine would be good for is testing turbo leaks. Because u can use it safely for the Psi requirement to check for leaks. I don't think the manufacturer should be able to even say this is a evap smoke machine. A professional shop would never attempt to use it in their shop

MPa is MegaPascal. @26.44 your flow meter ball is hovering because there is also leak somewhere on the hose from your blocking hand to the machine. Since when you turn the machine off the ball goes down so it should be on the ground when you blocked it.

I don't have a smoke machine but have used my shop compressor to look for leaks. I just use soap solution and watch for bubbles. To reduce the pressure, the compressor is set to low. If you're are in a tight budget or just need a Smoke Machine for one job, make your own. I did. You need a old plastic jug, 5 feet of clear plastic hose, glue gun, a couple of mini cigars with plastic tips. Make a small hole in jugs cap enough to slide 4 inches of hose inside. Secure with glue gun. Light up the cigar and place it on the end of the hose that is near the cap. Insert cigar with cap onto the jug. Make a small hole so you can blow into the jug. Connect the other side of long hose to the area to be tested. The smoke should last the life of the cigar. If you use a compressor, turn down the regular Pressure. You can also add additional holes as not over Pressurize your plastic jug. Use the Minimum air Pressure that keeps the cigar lit.You might need additional hoses and clamps for different testing.
