@@NLR759no don’t listen to this moron. I’m about to finish by bachelors in nutritional science. Good fat from REAL (non processed) foods has to be one of the best possible things for your skin health. Eat fatty cuts of red meat with collagen. Eat it all. The one thing I agree with is seed oils. Eliminate those completely it’s helped me tremendously. Seed oils aren’t natural as it takes millions of seeds to produce little oil. Anything like vegetable oil, rapeseed(canola), sunflower, sesame, cottonseed, corn oil, and soybean. Avoid these at all costs. The only oils you should consume aren’t from seeds and aren’t refined in a factory. Here are some cheaper alternatives that have way more health benefits and aren’t toxic to your body like seed oils: avocado oil, coconut, peanut, olive oil, also animal lard, and bacon fat are great. Any sort of beef tallow. Even regular old butter or clarified butter(ghee) are all 100x better options. Please do research if you don’t believe me😊
This is actually super helpful. I always thought that they were blackheads and pore strips never worked for me so hopefully I can get them to go away now.
Sound advice. I think people underestimate moisturisers in this. I think since moisturisers help cells remain hydrated, they help them exfoliate naturally better and become less sticky/clumpy
The cera ve foaming cleanser works wonders. I've always had horrible black spots all over my face but my nose looked the worst. My girlfriend is a dermatologist assistant and when she saw the condition my face was in she started applying that stuff on me about twice a day and now after 5 months, I'm looking like one of them K Pop stars 😂
@@zoyazara2523 it eas a cera ve cream she left it on me for like 3 minutes then told me to go rinse it off, she also used this gray bottle that kind of burned when she applied it.. I think it's called Clara's Choice? This one was a little more viscous and she would leave it on permanently followed by sunscreen. I'm sorry if I got these wrong I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff 😂
Finally, an actual medical professional! Seeing this video after all the ones with dumbos suggesting hard-to-find products or decrying pore strips is like a breath of fresh air.
I used to have this problem and what worked for me was: emptying (squeezing) my pores nightly, using an oil control cleanser, Retin A nightly (many insurance companies will pay for it to be used for acne) and an oil free moisturizer containing salicylic acid during the day esp. under makeup. Many people don't understand the purpose of a moisturizer if they have oily skin. There's a difference between oil (as from the skin) & water (coming form an OIL FREE moisturizer) oily skin can still become dehydrated esp while using retinoids. It also keeps pollution and makeup from seeping into pores
you REALLY shouldn't squeeze these pores unless you can do it extremely gently and still remove them. If you do it with any sort of pressure, you can easily scar/open the pores up worse and end up either exacerbating the issue, or with small scare wounds on your nose. If you want to remove them before exfoliating, you should look at pore strips instead
Thanks so much! I have skin picking disorder (Compulsive skin picking (CSP), Dermatillomania) and for me one of the biggest triggers are the prominent sebaceous filaments on my face, so treating those will also help reduce my complications.
Something that has really helped me with this is called the Oil Cleansing Method. Oil and water dont mix but an oil will get up in there and help losen things up. You use an oil facial cleanser and thoroughly massage your face in circles. Youll usually feel "grits" which as far as Im aware are little hard parts of gunk getting worked out of your pores (which my gross self finds really satisfying haha) Then you wash it off with a gentle normal cleanser. I also just started using an SA product called Pore Release by Hero Cosmetics and its the first thing Ive tried I felt like Im actually seeing results from.
@@kacey_alexandra6311hi, you can use any light oil I use a combo of olive oil, grape seed, and sweet almond. Also camellia oil is lovely just more pricey. Apply the oil and massage your face, then take a small towel and wet it with hot water and put on your face to wipe off the oil, then wash with a regular cleanser. Your skin will be so soft and clear!
Yes to this! Double cleansing changed my skincare journey forever. My skin is smoother and much clearer than before. I use the cocokind oil cleanser(it’s kinda thick, likes balm consistency), followed by the la roche posay cleanser
I no longer have acne and black heads all over my face. I only have sebaceous filaments on my T zone and inner cheeks since using 0.1% tretinoin for the past few years. I know it’s not a good idea, but a few months ago, I discovered that I can pluck them out with nail nippers. It’s so satisfying to see an empty pore. Nothing gets rid of them for me except for doing that. I try not do it because I feel like they keep my skin moisturized 😅
Agree 💯 percent! Almost 3 years ago I googled and looked in my old Cosmo notes and books and talked to EVERYONE I know about "have you noticed small hairs growing out of your nose pores?" My mans friend walked in in me plucking my 👃 nose. 😂he was flabbergasted to say the least. Had to let him know that woman get hair anywhere a man can, just usually not as thick etc. that was hilarious I'll never forget 😂
Highly reccomend the CeraVe SA cleanser. Dampen your face, massage for a moment and then wait for it to dry a bit before you rinse - that's the best way to use active cleansers and get the benefits!
I've had these subtle, black dots as long as I can remember! Mainly on the nose, if I look up close there's a bunch. Looking forward to the day I can try out one of these products, thanks!
...my case was more, the bullies saw them, i squeezed them to avoid the bullying, the bullies caught me doing it, and i graduated with a panic disorder and no self esteem. I'm glad to have a few product suggestions to try...my son was recommended cera ve for a skin condition he had as an infant. It's fairly easy to source here, though it still might be a struggle to find specific priducts in store.
On Rare Occasions those black spots are neither! They’re “Trichostasus Spinulosa” up to 8 tiny black hairs in one pore! No they’re not Sebaceous Filaments and they’re not vellus hairs. It’s a pretty uncommon condition but pretty cool under a microscope 😊
@@lalalalaland84You’re not wrong! There is hair all over the face. If you grab a mirror and have the sun hitting your face just right, you can usually see them all along the lower cheek and jawline. Or just try getting your whole face threaded and you will FEEL each individual hair being ripped out. The results are nice 😁 it helps skin to look smoother, less chance of infection than dermaplaning/shaving, and make up will appear a lot smoother on the face.
you are not supposed to remove them just keep them clean. Nose strips are bad but I suppose you both mean for blackheads and not what she was talking about in the video 😊 strips remove both blackheads and healthy sebaceous filaments and dermatologists do not like nose strips because they can do damage to the skin... so should be used rarely if so. Exfoliating is good but with chemical exfoliator like AHA not those scrubs with granules.
@@peixeess Why are people not "supposed to remove them"? Dermatologists and estheticians remove them all the time. They clog up your pores and there is no harm in removing them. I have used nose strips for years with no problems.
I was made fun of in school because people thought they were blackheads and I couldn’t handle the teasing anymore and tried to get a dermatologist but she didn’t help me. I’m hyperaware of people looking at me, thinking they’re staring at my nose and are disgusted with me. Literally if I didn’t have this issue, I would be a million times more confident. When I tried clay masks, they would work for literally like 5 seconds - empty pores - and then just look the same as before. I’ve just given up, I’m so exhausted from trying.
don’t even stress about it. i have the same issue i cant even see them unless i get all up in the mirror. it isn’t even noticeable unless someone is right up in your face looking at your nose.
Same here, mine are also huge and no matter how much makeup I use to cover it up, or how many products or scrubbing I use. The appearance stays the same.
Same in junior high i was called the black nosed girl or big nose (my nose isint even big) but the black dots made it appear larger and puberty n all that hit so i became super insecure with my nose. I never found a solution but i find that exfoliating daily and using the ordinary products has reduced their appearance. They are more noticeable if i dont exfoliate everyday tho
I’m Mexican and one cream many of us swear by is concha nacar #3 it’s finely crushed oyster shell powder with salycitic acid, honey and lemon juice. You wash face put it as mask. Leave for about 20 min then wash exfoliate gently as you wash off. Clears all pores and leaves face porcelain like, smooth snd so clear. It’s very affordable too💕
Thank you so much for telling us the education first, THEN suggesting some products you like to use which contain the chemical needed. Too many people promote but don’t teach.
One thing that has helped me for some reason, although its purpose is different, is the COSRX blackhead serum. It basically cleanses pores. I need it cause the salicylic acid didn t turn out to be so effective in my case
Personally I use an aveeno foaming face wash w .5% salicylic acid. It’s a super low concentration so it’s very gentle on my very sensitive skin. I’ve only been using it a couple weeks and haven’t noticed improvements in my sebaceous filaments, but I have seen visible improvement in my acne
LOVE aveeno products. I can only use aveeno, e45 or occasionally a bland body shop aloe night cream because skin flares red and sore to anything else. The oat base in aveeno makes such a difference, so soothing! I didn't know they had a face wash, I will get one. Thank you for the information! I hope it helps you.
@@fs8972 nope :/ I take paracetamol (tylenol) mostly. The thing is, I've never tested for allergies in that regard, but both my parents are severally allergic to it (my mum has had anaphylatic chock bc of it) so I'm so not putting myself through the risk of having to go to the hospital just to test if I'm indeed allergic or not. That's okay, paracetamol works most times tbh.
Can you use retinoids ? Retin A works wonders (stay out of the sun or use sunblock) and many insurance companies will pay for it if used to treat acne. Most doctors will give you a prescription
Guys, this is an active fight. No one product will get rid of it. Chances are, if you have it, you have oily skin that can handle regular exfoliation (every second or third day). I use the ordinary/minimalist aha bus pha 32% and it's magic! Use it in combination with salicylic acid, just not oj the same day. I use salicylic a day before and after the jrxt mornings exfoliation, I'm like glass.
@@NLR759 That's not how that works. While diet is a factor, it has to do more with our skin type and we cant change that, its genetic. Keeping your skin clean and well moisturized will do a lot more than just changing your diet
Its impossible to make your pores smaller. They're not windows you can open or close. You CAN reduce the appearance of them with "pore-minimizing" products that have actives like retinoids which will temporarily stimulate the collagen surrounding the pores. Again, this is temporary and large pores CANNOT shrink.
I also recommend The Ordinary products. The TH-camr Cassandra Bankson has a great video on an Ordinary routine for under $100 that helped me radically transform my skin (including resolving this issue with my nose). 10/10 recommend.
Same the Cerave cleanser has done nothing for me, also to gentle. The only thing keeping my skin at bay is The Ordinary serum, its the only thing that keeps me from breaking out with more sebum but at the same time does not clear up my face.
10% Azelaic Acid (I use Eva Naturals or Baha brand) + plus any serum containing 10% Niacinamide with at least 2% Zinc PCA (it's the Zinc PCA that's most important here - it regulates my oil production like nothing else I've ever seen). And unlike other acids, azelaic acid is non-irritating... in fact, I think it actually helped my skin become more resilient to strong exfoliants. As the good doctor says, I've been using retinoids, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid for 20 years (all VERY carefully and patiently worked up to in terms of strength and frequency, so as not to burn my face off!!!). These are critical for exfoliation and keeping acne at bay, not to mention INDISPENSIBLE for anti-aging (especially glycolic). But none of them ever did so much as a _thing_ for the sebacious filaments on my nose in all these years of use. It wasn't until I added the Azelaic Acid and Zinc PCA this past summer that I ever had progress with those. Seriously, within one week, those little black dots I had ALL MY LIFE -- that were resistant even to the highest strength retinoids and acids -- simply vanished. My nose became as smooth and clear as a baby's bottom, and I wanted to kick myself for waiting so long to try these other two products that dermatologists rarely talk about. Also, one tip about salicylic acid products, especially for sensitive skin: I find SA cleansers a waste of money as the product doesn't sit on the skin long enough to do its job, and the 2% products can be way too harsh for daily use. Instead, I like to use 0.5% in a moisturizer that stays on the skin all day. Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapefruit or Cetaphil Gentle Clear Mattifying Acne Moisturizer are both cheap and effective (although, once I added the Zinc PCA, I found "mattifying" products like Cetaphil to be unecessary and overlt drying). Lastly, just in case any newbies are reading this, I feel compelled to implore people just starting out with retinol or acids to PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! Assuming you have a correctly formulated product (pH 3 - 4 for acids), you can do serious damage to your skin quicker than you realize!!! Start with low strength products, one type at a time, and slowly work up. Back off at the SLIGHTEST sign of redness or inflammation, wait for the skin to fully heal, then resume. It can be slow and tough going at first, but your skin will acclimate over months and years, and the results are so worth it!!!
@@margueritezoehey i’ve dealt with acne for a while and recently came across 10% azelaic acid but thought that it might be too strong bc 10% sounds like a lot. could you tell me how frequently you use it? or is it part of your everyday routine?
The Cerave resurfacing serum changed my skin forever, it's AMAZING. I have oily combo skin that also gets dry in winter. This serum is gentle enough for daily use, clears all acne and blackheads and gives smooth skin. Plus my acne scars are gone! I had alot of dark marks on my cheeks. I've tried literally hundreds of creams, serums etc. I also tried every vitamin c cream for scars but that is my number 1! I can't say enough good things about it.
I agree, I love CeraVe because I’m a man who wants to take care of his skin and I don’t want a ton of fragrences or anything other than the skincare essentials in my products. I also like to use a tinted mineral sunscreen on my face and a non-greasy chemical sunscreen on the rest of my exposed skin

The cera ve foaming cleanser works wonders. I've always had horrible black spots all over my face but my nose looked the worst. i like how this is informative and straight to the point
It also keeps pollution and makeup from seeping into pores
that sounds hard: I'd rather be ugly

you REALLY shouldn't squeeze these pores unless you can do it extremely gently and still remove them. If you do it with any sort of pressure, you can easily scar/open the pores up worse and end up either exacerbating the issue, or with small scare wounds on your nose. If you want to remove them before exfoliating, you should look at pore strips instead

Hey, What oils do you use ?
@@kacey_alexandra6311hi, you can use any light oil I use a combo of olive oil, grape seed, and sweet almond. Also camellia oil is lovely just more pricey. Apply the oil and massage your face, then take a small towel and wet it with hot water and put on your face to wipe off the oil, then wash with a regular cleanser. Your skin will be so soft and clear!
What oil cleanser do you use?
I just bought my first oil cleanser to try this method, interested to see the results.
Yes to this! Double cleansing changed my skincare journey forever. My skin is smoother and much clearer than before. I use the cocokind oil cleanser(it’s kinda thick, likes balm consistency), followed by the la roche posay cleanser
THANK YOUU!!! i've had these for wayyy too long, and i never knew what to use!
Literally answered the question the internet couldnt. Thank you so much!
Agree 💯 percent! Almost 3 years ago I googled and looked in my old Cosmo notes and books and talked to EVERYONE I know about "have you noticed small hairs growing out of your nose pores?" Highly reccomend the CeraVe SA cleanser. Dampen your face, massage for a moment and then wait for it to dry a bit before you rinse - that's the best way to use active cleansers and get the benefits!

I swear some of my pores have hair peeking out of them and I can't tweeze or squeeze them
@@lalalalaland84You’re not wrong! There is hair all over the face. If you grab a mirror and have the sun hitting your face just right, you can usually see them all along the lower cheek and jawline. Nose strips work
you are not supposed to remove them just keep them clean.

It's genetics, but there are ingredients that have been proven to reduce the size of pores. I believe salicylic acid is one of them.
stop eating sugar - use ice packs
Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
Laser will make them a little bit smaller. Anything else will only clean them and you will think that they are smaller.

Reduce the amount of animal fat, dairy fat, and seed oils in your diet to reduce these clogged sebacious glands.
I also recommend The Ordinary products. The TH-camr Cassandra Bankson has a great video on an Ordinary routine for under $100 that helped me radically transform my skin (including resolving this issue with my nose). 10/10 recommend.
I use all the products mentioned, yet I’m still struggling
Same the Cerave cleanser has done nothing for me, also to gentle.
The only thing keeping my skin at bay is The Ordinary serum, its the only thing that keeps me from breaking out with more sebum but at the same time does not clear up my face.
Do you exfoliate? That is very important to get rid of the dead skins, twice a week.
same
10% Azelaic Acid (I use Eva Naturals or Baha brand) + plus any serum containing 10% Niacinamide with at least 2% Zinc PCA (it's the Zinc PCA that's most important here - it regulates my oil production like nothing else I've ever seen).
