Great build series. Initially I settled to watch the “302” rebuild as a general guide. Then you switched to 347 which is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you.
I was hooked from the first episode, your explanation of this build is awesome and I can't wait to find me a Windsor engine to work on and hopefully get the same results. Thank u so much and have a blessed 2022!!!
Really want to thank you for sharing the series of how to build a ford 302. I recently spent several thousand dollars on a SBF 306 rebuild for a 1987 Ford Bronco (my wife named here "Karen"). Lol. Long story short, immediately the head gaskets were leaking. Took it back to the shop under warranty and basically, they would not fix it. Wife cut me off on funds... I was on my own at this time. I watched your videos step by step on how to disassemble and reassemble the top end. Motor runs amazing, no more leaks. In the process, I learned how to adjust rockers, install distributor, set timing, install head gaskets and intake gaskets. Thank you very much for what you do!!!! Bronco still acts like a Karen. 🙂

@2carpros. This is a great series. Thank you for sharing. I noticed that the electric water pump was leaking during the Dyno, and while you drained and checked the oil. What was the cause?

This series is fantastic -as they normally are. But...did you happen to do a video of putting it back and in and wiring it up? was it a c6 or aod type transmission?
Thanks for watching David! I believe it will be a C6. It's going back into the 1981 Bronco we plucked it out of. I will do a video showing that after I get this LS Swap Bel Air done which is soon!
i watched all 11 videos i have to say it was the most informative videos i have ever seen i was wondering will the throttlebody instead of a carburator work on a 68 302 .my build will have slightly different parts than your does i thought it would be cool to have a throttlebody on my 347. How do you people know exactly what I'm thinking? XD We will do another build soonish, but I'm unsure what it will be yet. Thank you so much for watching!
I was wondering if the air filter housing top lid was going to align forward. It would not look right if the Ford name was off set. Is at the EFI units like the one you installed only got a 13 “ filter? What is the opening size? 5 1/4”?
How is the idle with that cam? I think I want a little choppier than the specs it has but other than that great build. I am starting the rebuild of a 69 302 for my 62 mercury. Just the target im looking for with your build

Those AFR heads are showing their worth. 435 hp with a mild 218@.050 cam. With AFR heads you can use a smaller cam for driveability and still make good top end.
Awesome! Thanks for watching! Parts was probably like 6-7 thousand but we did get new heads and forged crank. The machine shop labor was at 1600 but we are in SoCal so take that into account.
That's an interesting match up. I like it! Send me a picture when it's done! ryan@2carpros.com We used 218 int./228 exh. at .050 so its the biggest cam you can get for it using the stock torque converter. Thanks for watching!
Hey Ryan, this might be a complete noob question but what did you do to replace the alternator? Is that just something that gets added once it’s in the vehicle? What about a fan? I just didn’t see it on the final build or on the Dyno. Any help is greatly appreciated!
All good questions! We didn’t run an alternator on the dyno, we will route the belts on install. For a fan we will just run electric. Thanks for watching!
Summit sent us a ton of really excellent parts. But I think just the aluminum heads were 950 each. I didn't add everything up. Although you don't have to get all the best stuff to have a really great running engine. Thanks for watching!
I always thought a Windsor engine was at least 351 ci or above and built in the town of Windsor. You keep saying 302 Windsor. What’s the difference between a standard 302 ci (5.0) and a 302 Windsor? I don’t know. My 79 has a standard 302 (5.0) in it.
I guess technically they moved production from Windsor to Cleveland in 1970. So technically its a Cleveland made engine but it is colloquially referred to as a Windsor still. That's what the machine shop guy called it so I did too. Thanks for watching!
For those interested, if you made it thus far, this is roughly a $12,000 build. I put a little bit in for contingency but all around im thinking that what you could expect to pay. If someone is getting anything different than that, correct me below. Peace
@@2carpros aww dang it ok, man I would love for my 302 on my f100 stepside to look and perform that good! Your friend is a lucky man lol Yes, your videos are dope!!
I liked the video. However you put a STP oil filter on it? all the monies spent on the engine and you spent about $4.on a cheap filter. NAPA WIX and Carquest are all the same manufacture. STP, Quaker State, Pennzoil filters are all made buy the same company. Champion. Yes the spark plug company Cheap and not worth what the engine requires.
Get back to some chevy power now lol I think its pretty obvious based on views nobody likes ford. Time for a sbc 350 build. Maybe a stroker? You're the best to do it on TH-cam, give the people what they want.
Lots of people have built Fords at least they tell me. Gotta show love for all the brands. I really want to do a SBC next though. But we might be doing a late model hemi next? It's pretty up in the air. Thank you so much for saying I do it the best. :) Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I completely understand and respect the love for all brands. But you can't deny that gm power has been the most built and swapped engines for decades now.

What octane fuel did you run in it?
Good question. I believe it was 110. But we can retard the timing a little bit and run it on 91 just fine. Thanks for watching!
We want the numbers!!!
You gottem! :D
What was your total build cost?
7 or 8 thousand but a lot of that cost is those amazing AFR heads. Thanks for watching!
No one mention the water pump leaking at 5:57
It's a slight leak from the dyno connection. Thanks for watching!
For those interested, if you made it thus far, this is roughly a $12,000 build. I put a little bit in for contingency but all around im thinking that what you could expect to pay. If someone is getting anything different than that, correct me below. Peace
Seems a little on the high side. But then again I did this before inflation. Thanks for watching!
Total cost? Including machining?
Hmmmmmm probably like 7k with the new heads. Thanks for watching!
Didn't you guys used to do computer videos??
In an other life perhaps. Thanks for watching!
Would you guys ever consider selling this engine? If so how much?
Not this one. It's not even mine. It's my best friends and it's going in his Bronco. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros aww dang it ok, man I would love for my 302 on my f100 stepside to look and perform that good! Your friend is a lucky man lol
Yes, your videos are dope!!
ok; now for what everyone is thinking about. boost it :D
Haha maybe the next one! This one is staying N/A Thanks for watching!
"447lb fit out of a 347? That's amazing!"
"No it's not"
LOL
More than 1hp per cube is pretty good NA.
LOL
Some metal would seem normal from break in
Uhm... so can I have it please. 😁🙏
375
Ooooo close! But we did even more! Thanks for watching!
I think this engine will make around 460HP
Oooo close!
392 ho,. 406tq.
Oooo not too far off! Thanks for watching!
I think you might be overthinking it a tad. I drained the oil and cut open the filter. It did it's job perfectly. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros Sir, you cut open the NAPA gold filer (made buy Wix) and installed the inferiors one
Seems awfully lean. 12.5 to 13 should make the best power
Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I completely understand and respect the love for all brands. But you can't deny that gm power has been the most built and swapped engines for decades now.
@@tylerb5582 That’s funny Chevy power huh! It doesn’t matter where you go you will always see more Foxbody’s than any other make or model despite the fact that they are 30 years old!
@@NeverEnoughPyro40 who said anything about car brand? Go look under the hood and see what makes it go. Well over majority will be gm power.
