    No one else reverse-engineers motors and moving parts just to understand noise sources. This is why I am a Talaria Boys subscriber. I live vicariously through you boys! I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing a Talaria R, knowing so many things well in advance, comprehending this is the e-moto to buy--not wasting thousands of dollars on a lesser machine. Thank you, Talaria Boys; you're saving me a lot of money, effort, and time.

    I got my Talaria Sting R L1E delivered last week. I'm 67 next month and this Talaria is the first motorbike I have ever owned and ridden. When I was pushing it into my home I could feel the "clogging" you spoke of and only now I do I understand whats going on. Thanks for that wonderful explanation. The clogging is only really noticable when the bike is pushed very slowly and deliberately. Pushing the bike as you normally would the noise is is lost over the ambient noise. In other words the "clogging" sound is only heard when you listen out for it. Have mercy on the Keyboard Warriors, without them you would not have made this video, you had to prove them wrong.

    I'm glad you finally found a much more plausible and rational explanation of this noise as I've been looking for an answer for several weeks , but couldn't find any. I just think titling your video differently like "talaria rattle noise final explanation" would have helped to find it sooner and saved me time from trying different useless fixes.
    In my attempt to explain where noise was coming from I came to the conclusion that it mostly happened while throttle is off (especially while riding downhill or at low speed while rear breaking), so when wheel was driving gearbox instead of motor driving wheel.
    It could be sticking with your explanation.

  • @arianeproulx9337
    @arianeproulx9337 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi,
    Talaria has already explain this for the motor, the Sting R use an IPM motor and Sting MX3 is PMSM motor. And of course, IPM are a bit expense compare to PMSM.
    PMSM motor has great kick off but turn flat after this, IPM motor is better in every way, good day!

    • @shockadellick
      @shockadellick ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Ariane Proulx
      Single tracks are more suited for IPM, however, when snap is needed like in motocross you might want SPM. At urban bicycle parks you also might want SPM for the fun factor . IPM motors actually cost less because they use less magnets compared to SPM. However, manufactures costs can be higher if or when IPM motors require tighter tolerances.
      Good news: IPM motors won't toss a magnet above 15 k-watts.
      Bad news: IPM motors run a higher risk of detrimental consequences if they lose a fraction of balance.
      I like both motor types, however, a man chose his weapon by the job's requirement.

    • @arianeproulx9337
      @arianeproulx9337 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shockadellick Talaria Boys has made this test for you when they tried different sprocket with an MX3 and the Sting R is the winner in acceleration, top speed and all with also a bigger battery pack. Personally i'm not a men and use IPM motor and I don't want to get back, stick with SPM If you like them it's your choice not mine.

    More great content guys, keep up the great work. I'm gonna get flamed for this but I installed a 48 tooth rear sprocket on my R and I like it, I didn't have a larger chain nor extra links so this is the primary reason, it does wheelie at 10-12 mph with no tug on the bars whatsoever and even before the gear swap, I could wheelie over stuff pretty easily but not at any speed, I can't wait to get the updated KO controller and lower gearing, loving this bike!!

    Makes sense… with a non-oring chain you can hear the links sort of clunking around. However, when you walk the MX3 around the garage you can really hear the motor "turning over" around the front sprocket area and the chain noise somewhere maybe 4" in front of the rear sprocket on the top side. Guessing upon accelerating the chain goes taut and there is some slack to taut noise there. Would be interested in seeing decibel readings on both motors when you have the bikes on a stand. ❓❔👍🏻

      @JackBKillinit ปีที่แล้ว

      For Emoto I think we want to hear like a smooth ‘grzzzzzgrzzzzZzzzzzzz" sound not the sound of say a drawbridge coming up ‘crrallkkkcrlankky" sound. Agree isn’t is not a deal breaker, but smoother and quieter would be better imo.

  • @estebanfranco8955
    @estebanfranco8955 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know if there's a controller available that lets you pick the Hertz for the motor to operate in but that's what is causing a lot of the noise when its running. but you want to be able to hear the motor when its running that way you can hear when its struggling and don't burn it up. The magnet orientation is different on the new motor, this will allow it to spin faster....more rpm, more top end

  • @alchemyalligator4431
    @alchemyalligator4431 ปีที่แล้ว

    it is the placement of the magnets on the magneto that makes the difference when spinning the sprocket.

  • @ericthedesigner
    @ericthedesigner ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine clunks when it Tops out because I have no sag in my suspension when I sit on it. so washboard bumps make lots of clunking. But that is only because I like to ride hard suspension with 40-60 psi in my tires. If I unwind the spring preload until it has sag, then I get no clunking. Most riders don't understand you can adjust spring tension to fit your weight and riding style. Be careful because if you put to much preload in the spring you can break the valving on shocks that have been used a lot. Not so much on brand new shocks.

    I don't care about any noise, I ride with music mostly anyway, (not around others though) but my only beef with my new R, as compared to my old Sur Ron, is the wimpy regen. Four levels? On my bike 1,2 and 3 do NOTHING, 4 is half or less the regen/braking of my Sur Ron. Doesn't matter what % of battery remaining either. Eric at Luna mentioned a while back, new ones will be set up better for regen, but for those already out there like mine, they were looking into a field modification, flashing the existing controller I believe. I am still waiting....!

    I have a question about unlocking the bike do you have to do that code with the start button and brake and cut the brown wire or do you only cut the brown wire if the code don't work. Thanks boys

    • @Talariaboys
      @Talariaboys  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do either way. Whatever works

      @Talaria Boys so if the code works then you don't have to cut the wire i guess that's my question

    Is the xxx motor the same as mx3/mx4. Or is it it’s own?

    • @Talariaboys
      @Talariaboys  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s the same insides as a mx4 motor but it’s in a different case. So yes it’s a different motor.

    • @caffeine9334
      @caffeine9334 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      same but deferent? so it's as smooth as the mx4 (not mx3 clunky),
      - Can it handle the 72volt upgrade you put on your Sting?
      -Batteries are $$ would a controller swap give more punch or is it really the 72volt that gives the sting the extra punch?
      -Total off topic. but have you tried the ultra bee to see how it compares to the sting? Thanks again.. and great content! I think I have watched all your video's now ;)

    • @Talariaboys
      @Talariaboys  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the motor feels just like an mx4 motor not a mx3,
      I believe it can run the same power as an mx4 but you can’t really get a controller or battery for it yet without lots of work.
      A controller helps a little, but it’s mostly the battery.
