      @@AndreaOlson My girl (thinking about it now) is probably going to be looked at as an easy first time. I'm intimidated by spraying out pee parts.. haha.. 😅

    Hi Andrea, I’ve been doing EC since my little boy was 2 weeks old and we have had great success. He has hit 6months and for the past couple of weeks (from about 5months old) he has not wanted to use the mini potty - he stands when I try to sit him down (even after holding it all night) and just signs for “milk” and twists around to nurse. This often leads to him peeing on me lol.😅 He has also seemingly stopped signalling for pee/poop when he is playing / having tummy time. I’ve tried the sink, the toilet, the outdoors. I try not to get frustrated but it is a bit frustrating. I can get maybe 1 pee per day but haven’t caught a poop in a couple of weeks now. Is it still going to be effective? Am I missing something? He’s a very relaxed baby but just wants to cluster feed on the regular 😂. He is dry almost every morning which is so cool! I listened to episode 235 and am using the training underwear and will try the log for nude observation. I may have been over offering 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ll keep at it😊

    I feel like I have all the crazy questions :D but my 15-month-old doesn't pee on the potty or toilet. However, he now gets up from there and climbs into the bidet by himself, peeing without sitting down. Should I let him? When I pick him up and put him onto the floor, he stands and pees on the floor, complaining while he does.
    Any ideas on how to solve this? Peeing in the bidet is okay for me but no solution long-termed, I guess. Also, I don''t want him to poop in there. Unfortunately, it is situated right next to the regular toilet, so i can't "hide" it from him...
    How do I ease him into peeing while sitting instead of standing up?

      Well, if his aim is ok, maybe you can redirect him to peeing standing (on a stool) into the toilet! Sometimes people encourage this by putting some blue or red food colouring in there (it will change colour with pee in it) or aiming for little pieces of cereal or something. If you would like him to sit, I would get a floor potty that he can access himself, and start with transporting him there mid-pee every time he starts to "go" (My Tiny Potty Training Book explains this method in more detail).

      Why don't you want him to stand while peeing?

    Hi Andrea ! Been doing EC with my baby boy since 1 month, he’s almost a year old now. We were doing so good, catching lots of pees and just about every poop. Since crawling and learning to walk he has stopped sitting on little potty and even the seat reducer. Haven’t caught a poop in almost 2 months !! We’ve take a step back and relaxed more. I’m hoping it’s a phase and that he’ll get back into it, but it’s pretty discouraging. Any tips ?

      Learning to walk is a very common time for resistance! There is so much going on and kids just want to stand so much! So, if he is resistant to the potty, try to keep your EC practice going in a low-key way, and try pottying over the bathtub or outdoors for a bit!
      See my podcast episode at www.godiaperfree.com/143 for tips on EC at that age ;)

      @@AndreaOlson thanks so much , I’ll try that. Think it would help to switch to undies so he feels the discomfort? We were almost there around 8 month but then the pause happened :/

    I watch my 6mo nephew a few days a week and practice EC with him. I have a 10mo girl so I needed some tips. I will try and sit him back further on the mini potty and see if this helps to not have to hold his penis down. He is a big boy and can be a lot to manage holding on the potty so hopefully this tip makes it easier until he can help out and hole himself up. Thank you!

    What exactly does “out of diapers by walking” mean?

    • @AndreaOlson
      @AndreaOlson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That little ones no longer where diapers.
      So children are out of diapers by the time they start walking.

    Any advice on EC and diarrhoea?

    • @AndreaOlson
      @AndreaOlson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, usually diarrhea only lasts a couple of days, so usually people use a diaper back-up and do EC as usual.
