Great project. As a Dutchman, I just had to have the Bijlandt brigade. All metal Perries. I kitbashed the light cavalry units from plastic French cavalry with Austrian horses. There's a great book on the Dutch/Belgian contribution during Quatre Bras and Waterloo: Wellington's Hidden Heroes by Veronica Baker Smith. Excellent read
Thank you for the ideas. I only recently came across Elite Minitures myself while looking for a different set of sculpts for my Brunswick division. I will at some point be adding the 2nd Dutch Division to my Anglo Allied army with its Brigade of Dutch/Belgians and Brigade of Nassau troops. Incidently I love how much the Perry's made the Prince of Orange look like Paul Bettany.
I'm not specifically a "never Warlord resin" guy. More of a "never any cast resin from anyone ever, because it's an irredeemable garbage material by default" guy. Great video mind, and it's planted a little seed in my brain for down the line. I would like to see a similar video on a combined "allied" part of the Anglo-Allied army, as you suggested - a few Dutch, Belgians, Hanoverians, Nassau, Brunswick - a way to augment the existing British army that many of us have by now. Though I suppose the difficulty is making one of these videos in such a way that doesn't just say "Hello everybody, buy everything from the Perrys, thanks for watching!"
When you consider the Dutch, Belgian, Nassau held up Wellingtons right flank at Waterloo against D'Erlons I Corp attack at 11am its a Travesty they are not more popular on Wargamers build list. They took punishment all day until the Prussians arrived on their left and traded shot for 20 minutes in the confusion
Really nice video, Tim. Just one query - I bought Eagle Prussian Landwehr a year ago - lovely figures, but they seemed to be "true" 25mm, thus noticeably shorter than 28mm. I got round it by putting them on thicker bases!
Warlord plastic Portuguese make pretty good Dutch militia in stovepipe shako. The body is almost identical, the main difference is the shako front plate.
I have almost both Divisions built before the Warlord released their Belgian Line. Infact I had just finished my last Belgian Line Battalion. I still have 3 Militia Battalions to do. Inhope warlord release soon so I can use them as i have used up just about every companies troops. All metals expensive I used Elite minature Battalion boxes as they are pretty good for the money but also Perry, Front Rank and even some Eagle although they are very small. Also there is a Division of Nassau in one of the Divisions too.
Great video! Watched, though I think I would never actually build Dutch Belgians myself. Do you think you will ever re-visit the older start collecting videos with the new minis available today?
@@majorclanger7475 Yes, it was in fact Netherlandic engineers who build the bridges over the Berezina, saving the whole Grande Armée from total destruction. But I'm pretty sure they were dressed in French uniforms, I do not think they would look the same as the Netherlanders at Waterloo.
Wake up everyone, new "Start Collecting" just dropped

Only issue with Elite Figures is that the owner is planning to sell it soon. Who knows where their range will end up at that point.

I'm not gonna lie, it is sometimes difficult not to do that! 🤣
Start collecting Brunswick's when
Any chance of an addendum covering the Dutch/Belgians earlier fighting for the French.
So glad to see this neglected army get some notice!! As you say, they area great addition to any Hundred Days army.
Thanks for doing the Dutch/Belgians,although I was surprised you didn't mention Front Rank miniatures at all.
They're lovely, just a little pricey, and the Perry characters are absolutely superb.

All thanks to that idiot Siborne and every British historian up to the early 2000s blindly copying his work without doing any real investigation.
Ah the land of fried potatoes, waffles, beer, and weird comics.

Good idea. Thanks.
If you really wanted plastic, i feel like plastic portuguese from warlord would be a good base.

I've been think about that. I probably will, though not quite yet. I'm thinking a series of 'next step' videos first...
I have in 28mm Perry/ Dutch / Belgians of Waterloo , But I suppose They can be used in the 1812 Campign in Russia.
why so?
@@wgeffoxdo9719 , The Dutch/Belgian troops I think went to Russia with the French as allies , so more use for my Netherlands 28mm troops.
