Hi Les, only just stumbled across your content, better late than never😊. Love the no nonsense delivery, content and no BS. Coming up to 60 and seriously thinking of selling up in the UK after 8 1/2 years hard graft getting my Thai wife a British citizenship whilst watching the freeloaders getting an access all areas free pass. Been visiting Thailand since 2003 as a tourist and seen plenty of areas both North and South, my wife has no particular wish to live where she was brought up near Khao Yai as land and property is very expensive due to the influx of second home owners from the more affluent in Thai society. Personally I’m more drawn to the coast but couldn’t bare the more touristy areas of Pattaya and Hua Hin. Any chance of sharing any pointers towards Rayong and the surrounding area, seen quite a few videos and visited Bang Saray but that was about as far south as we ventured by car. Keep up the good work and I hope you have thawed out since visiting the UK in the coldest summer since 2015, so much for global warming..
Morning and thanks for watching the channel, Rayong is a big province we live near Chackpong 15 km from Ban Phe not on the tourist list so everything is a good price, house rental food and shopping, were 30 min away from Koh Samet island 2 1/2 hrs from the Airport so for🙏😀 me a great location. I'm starting a 6 week shut down working nights as off Monday, so I'll hopefully save enough to visit Thailand and The Philippines for two weeks a piece. I'll then decide which I'd prefer to retire to.

I've been to see him just the once, but I've been visiting The Philippines since January 2000 and Thailand since February 2007. I used to swear by The Philippines, but after about 13 trips to Thailand I think it's a bit of a coin flip. As you say immigration into Philippines seems far simpler.

Everyone with the means, and a bit of gumption, is getting out of Britain and the other four declining members of the ‘five eyes’. Thanks Les for sharing your valuable insights. Thailand is changing their tax system for foreigners too. A significant number of retired foreigners are getting out of there too, preferring places such as the Philippines, where the gov leaves them in financial peace. .
It is all up in the Air at the moment, lets see what happens my advice don't jump the gun, the tax can be avoided as we all know but it will take time to take advantage of loop holes. The UK in parts is still a nice place.

Australia COL is very expensive, Thailand very reasonable . The feeling of security becomes more important with age too. Wondering whether that security is better in uk or Thailand. Yes it was a strange feeling, I knew only ne guy and he steered me in the right direction as not to get burnt, I started off in Pattaya then within weeks moved to Jomtien. Plenty of guys willing to teach you a thing or two. I do the same here on my channel, I have done a few eBooks have a look in the description below the video's very cheap and helpful. Only $3 each. Even with all the global mess, their economies are bouncing back, cities are booming, and they're constantly pumping out new tech. Honestly, Asia is way more flexible and innovative compared to Europe, which is kinda stuck in its ways right now. It's not just about money either - their infrastructure, social mobility, and access to tech are raising the standard of living like crazy. Way more opportunities there than in Europe right now. I know that Europe and the UK used to be the big deal because of their strong economies and social services, but let’s be real, Asia's where the energy is these days. If you want real growth and actual opportunities, the future's in the East. That’s where all the action is for people looking to move or level up their life.

China publishes phoney figures and has had the biggest property slump in global history. My company trades ( sells to) with China, and I can tell you they are in recession and deflation. Factory gate prices are down. Also, like Korea, they have a demographic problem. Korea is doing ok, unless you’re a worker there and you’d be expected to work 6 days & 10 hours. So, no I still say the U.K. by comparison isn’t too bad.
No foreigner can own property outright in Thailand. Renting will give you the flexibility to see if it's right for you. If not, you can simply move on!

Depends where you are, I live on the island of koh tao and we are going through a drought, we have to import water from the main land at extortionate prices
9 and 1/2 weeks to long mate, I have to leave Thailand next month for couple of weeks to see my new grandson, looking forward to that but not looking forward to spending 2 weeks on Redcar lol even though it's my home town 😅

I hate to disillusion you Les, but I'm afraid that the weather is no better here at the moment. It's been grey skies and intermittent rain for 3 days and 3 nights now.
Depends where you are, I live on the island of koh tao and we are going through a drought, we have to import water from the main land at extortionate prices
