Dental costs Thailand
This is a Guide to Dental Costs in Thailand, Dental Procedures and costs. How do they compare to your home country costs.
Medical Tourism in Thailand is something many people travel here for, and Dental work is one of the most common things. I have not been to a Dentist for 18 to 20 years as I do not like dentists. Saying that I had to visit 2 years ago for a broken Crown which was replaced. 2 years later I felt I needed work doing as I had a cavity and another broken Crown. Time to bite the bullet and go see the Dentist.

Professor of Dentistry, molar extraction. Cost ? £3.50 Taiwan
Wow very cheap. Thanks for sharing.
Last crown I had replaced cost 6k baht in Bkk, 8k now. Depends where you go prices vary a lot
That was a great price. You could spend all day visiting different Dentists, recommendations are a great start. Thanks for watching.
A lot cheaper there than here Les... 👍👍
Looking good Les. You can really see the difference in your weight loss.😊
Cost of a zirconia crown in uk at private dentist is around £1000, it’s gone up it was about £700, 3 years ago, I know as I have 2 😂
Hello Les, thank you so much for your great videos. Here in France I had a crown done 8 years ago . 1000€
Getting an NHS dentist is the 1st obstacle, if you go private the sky's the limit aound £1K
Living the dream? you are joking of course.
In Wales UK, cleaning the teeth under NHS £60 and a crown about £300. So not much difference in price between UK and Thailand. I remember looking at the prices in a dentist in Thailand in the early 2000's and it was quite a bit cheaper than the UK, so it looks like prices have gone up in Thailand.
On nhs you will only get a cheap metal crown though so you can’t compare the price as there are different types. Standard metal, porcelain, Zirconia etc, zirconia is the most expensive one, its strongest one
Cleaning in Bkk is 600 baht last crown 8k baht fillings about 2k, far cheaper than UK
The cost of a crown including all dental work, anesthesia and dental technology in Holland is: €900, $950 or £750.
Good video. A good dentist can be hard to find. I am glad you found one. I look forward to the followup. I had a significant amount of dental work performed in the US. I saved 10's of thousands by having the work done at a dental school. The work was performed by a student, so it took much longer, though, it was supervised by faculty dentists. I am very happy with service and care at about 1/3 the cost.
Check up 5mins with dentist, then hygenist clean n polish=£100 uk boro, 6month ago. Next trip same again but I chipped tooth n had return to fill the gap, with tuff hard glue? £300, for check, hygenist clean n polish n fix chip...Middlesbrough
There is also an article in today's Guardian about an old expat still on 72 pounds a week, whose daughter created a petition for her mother to meet Keir Starmer to discuss this topic. The PM declined, but arranged for her to meet the minister in charge of the DWP..
Hi Les, what is the name of the dentist and where are they that you are with now please. I hate dentist too. I would appreciate this info. Thanks.
The maximum you would have to pay on the NHS is £319.10, that would include everything, so if needed you could have a filling, a tooth extraction, a bridge, and a crown, all in if you needed it, and if anything went wrong with the treatments within a 8 week period, it would be put right at no additional expense! Not bad value tbh. Now you're only trouble would be, would be too actually find a NHS dentist that is taking on NHS patients!
NHS crown are the cheapest, standard metal so I’d imagine the one les is getting is either porcelain or zirconia. With zirconia which is the strongest and most expensive they also colour match your teeth !
This is what I hate most in Thailand about healthcare and dentists as they are only thinking about money and attitude towards Farangs! I paid my dentist for checkup and hygienist £180 in the UK for one visit without gimmicks 😅.
Been today, my back tooth broke it’s beyond repair, extraction recommended in case it gets infected, is at the back so won’t be noticeable, 2000 baht.
Of course, in many parts of the UK, especially rural areas, it is really difficult to find an NHS dentist right now. Even a private practitioner might be quite difficult.
Hi Les. I also had a crown on the NHS at £319 but trying to get a NHS dentist is virtually impossible in the UK. My daughter had to go private for a check up £49, Xray £66 and they told her she needed 9 fillings at a cost of £1,200, Like you she hates going to the dentist. All the best Graham.
Should have brushed her teeth then.
The bitchin and moaning of westerners is next level…..want third world prices but first world wages? Seriously ffs
Well done Les I'm just like you I had a sharp tooth that kept playing up I found a dentist last Xmas in the Philippines and it cost £2.50
Hi Les, talk about timing. Two days ago I went to the dentist to have a problem tooth looked at. The tooth has a large filling in it and is starting to show stress cracks around the edges of the tooth. So they recommend in order to save it from breaking up, I should have a crown put over it to preserve the tooth. As the tooth is towards the front of my mouth I want to keep it rather than have a gap. However after they explained how much it's going to cost I was thinking I might try and get it looked at in Thailand. I am an NHS patient and it will cost me...£900😮 Unbelievable 😡
I recently had 2 porcelain crowns replaced in the UK £2200. 🤦♂️ i have been in Hua Hin for the past month, should have had them done here!!
Had one of mine replaced under the level 3 nhs Les last year paid the £319 max also got a root filling done plus 3 other fillings and a descale and polish included so not too bad all in all ,, private wise I dread to think
Same same
I would very much like to know the name of your new dentist. We live in Ban phe and also have a house in Krabi where we are now. We are returning to Ban Phe next week. I may try and contact you.
Muse dental hause100/29-30 Moo 1 Phe Mueang Rayong 21160 0969266328 Would recomend.🙏😀😬
Worked in Ban Phe myself about 2 decades ago. Helluva story, but best left for another day. Particularly as I have returned to live well over 1,000 clicks away, road distance. :-) I am even quite a long way further South from your new Krabi home.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream , Thierry here from Jersey Island uk , cost of dental here is astonishing ,high , I am planning to have a full denture , in rayong in the future Thanks for advise and comments Few more years before retiring in , ban phe ,( Chakpong ) and Klaeng , I hope we can meet in the future 👌🌅🇹🇭
I had a NHS 5 crown bridge, 1 year ago in the UK, cost £300. Private +/- £2500 - 3000 or more.
A new crown cost me 5,000 baht earlier this year. Done at a clinic, but by my usual dentist who is also a lecturer in a dental faculty near here, with lots of experience. I haven't been to a UK GP or dentist for about 40 years. I have a medical card still, but I am no longer eligible for a GP after 32 years out of the country. That would seem to pose no particular problem, but 7 years ago I needed a diagnosis unavailable in Thailand, but no UK GP was available who could refer to a specialist. Luckily, I was accepted straight away by a private clinic, that also do NHS referrals. It cost me a bit for a single appointment, but I got the assessment on the same day. Other clinics would have charged more, but this one is renowned for careful and quick work. Again, an older clinician with loads of experience! By the way, over the years I have had both my impacted wisdom teeth removed here by hospital dentists. Neither were easy, but I obviously fared better than my sister at Birmingham Dental Hospital with exactly the same problem.
I love Thailand but Australia has the best beaches…
Mmmm when you have to compete with Jelly Fish and Sharks but they do look nice.
I know a guy here in Thailand who 83 and left the UK a very long time ago. He gets £58 a week UK pension.
Maybe at 83 he may not want to do the run around but wow what a rise that would be.
Looking at the transcripts it gives me the assuption that if I had defered my pension for a month or two then I would get the rise next year. I will call UK pension office next week to find out what can be done.
Best wishes on that can you let me know please. Thanks.👌
Very interesting, like the first vid. The explanation of the route from the panels to the fuses to the battery and so forth was just too fast for me, but I'll keep on learning and hopefully one day I can follow how you built the system, and why you placed the components here and not there, like that. Cheers!
Plenty of step by step videos out there I may do one also explaining my decisions. Thanks for the comment.
@RetiredandLivingthedream Yes, plenty of vids out there that I am accessing, yours being one of them. I am not an electrician but want to move towards a diy emergency backup system, from design to placement to making the wires for series/parallel of both panels and batteries, and fuses/breakers and even Faraday cage protections. Good luck!
If you search for reciprocal Pension Agreements the .GOV website DOES have all the information
Thanks for the Link, can you kindly direct me to the information about claiming your pension is a Reciprocal Country after living there for 185 days as far as I can see it is about TAX not claiming pension. Much appreciated.
Had nothing but problems getting that company to pay so I dropped it. Now I have a pink card which is getting me the Thai rates at the public hospital here which fortunately is a very good one. I have no use for the private hospitals here which are basically money grabs. In my town the same doctors work at both the private and public hospital.
Hi and thanks for sharing, sorry to heat you had bad service, I would agree Public hospitals are worth a look. As you say many Doctors in the Private Hospitals have to do so many hrs in the Public Hospital. 🙏Hope your well not and fit and healthy. Best wishes.
You have described a uk nightmare in the uk! (not to mention the abuse that can be experienced by the carers) I'm from the Uk myself... Its a harsh country... Ive been in Australia for 20 years! Ive seen care home in Thailand on the news.. it looked amazing! I'm saving my pennies up for retiring in Thailand 🙂 Thanks for interesting videos
Thanks for taking time to watch and for making a comment, I have seen with my own eyes both the UK and Thailand and Thailand wins hands down. Best wishes for your future plans.🙏

The UK state pension is not a benefit.
That is what they are calling it now.👌
It has always been called a Benefit but it is Contribution Benefit as to claim it you need sufficient NI contributions credit years and it is paid from the NI Fund not general taxation. This is also the reason why along with the other NI benefits of Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Statuary Sick Pay and Bereavement Benefit that it is not means tested. NI contributions are just that and not taxes as they are paid into the NI Fund which once the NHS supplement has been deducted is only available to pay the above benefits and not available to government for general expenditure. When they say it tax and goes into the same pot they are lying. See - National Insurance Fund WIKIPEDIA. Also See - National Insurance WIKIPEDIA.
They're going to close it down now. It's been ruined now. You can't live there on the I've heard that closing it down to camper vans and motorhomes. A lot of photos of posted. And now it's going to be closed. Rubbish fires everywhere.
Sadly they make it hard for those who wish to live with little, they even take that away from them. Thanks for your comment.
The place is ruined now.
It was very clean when I visited.
I'd run that odd panel in on the 2nd PV input on the inverter. Will come in handy on cloudy / rainy days.
That is what I intend to do thanks for agreeing with my thoughts. Take care and thanks for the input.
always interesting content 👍👍
Thanks for the visit and taking time to comment.
Excellent video ! Is it possible to still receive the uk pension when living in Thailand?
Yes, absolutely but at a Frozen rate as Thailand is not a Reciprocal Country. I did a video about this. th-cam.com/video/Do6B26_FwsQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Lez just wondering how the electronics deal with the humidity, I live near the coast in the Philippines and the salt etc fecks the electronics .
Up to now I have had two cheap Grid tie inverters fail, but what caused them to fail I could not say. The last inverter Powmr has good reviews but you never know for sure. I will keep an eye on everything, yep the salt air destroys things my wife's samlor is showing the salt air affects. Thanks for the comment.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I know it could be expensive but putting all the equipment on an A/C room .A/C drys the air
How much you planned to save $5.00😂😂😂😂
About that yes, still 30% or so. Plus the other benefits TV Computer Fans when the power goes out, How much is that worth. On a Hot Sticky night for 4 hours.
Hi Les, Last year I decided to install a 500W Solar Panel system in my wee abode here in Korat. I made a few mistakes during my DIY installation! I wired up the 2 x 250w solar panels in serial mode configuration as opposed to parallel mode - I was wrong to do this because it burnt-out the MPP Charge Controller which could only handle a 12v system. My second mistake was buying a normal inverter as opposed to a Pure Sine Wave Inverter, the normal inverter would make my cooling fans sound very noisy, so I've changed it for a Pure Sine Wave Inverter - no more cooling fan noise now. I found TH-cam to be helpful during my installation and I couldn't have done it without getting the basic installation guidance from there. I had my system on the go for over a year now, it powers my single cooling fan all day and gives me a few hours of power at night for my fan & light's. I was gonna attempt a bigger system, but I've decided against it. All the best to you & thanks for sharing your video
Thanks so much for taking time to comment and for sharing, it is very much appreciated. Even a small system can be useful, my small system is great value for money if needed. 🙏
Nice job, Now imagine if that was in the UK first you would need a site survey , Planning permission, Permission from the leccy board and a Certified installer charging you about £5k and about 10 yrs ROI if your lucky in cloudy britian.
Yep paperwork in the UK is a pain. Here the Electric is so cheap that's why Solar is not popular here my Electric bill normally was only about 18 pounds a month at most normally 10 to 13 a month. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. 🙏
What is the total cost of your investment for a total power of 5 kw if I understood well .
About GBP 700 a saving of around 7 GBP a month return is 8 years. Seems a long time but add the convenience factor electric when the power goes off, I know as we have faced 4 hrs of heat during the night in Hot Season. This is priceless TV Computer Internet Fans AHhhhhhhh Cool😀
@@RetiredandLivingthedream thank a lot
Hi Les, I rent my house so no plans to install solar panels. I still find it very interesting to see how you've done it though. These things aren't all about saving money, as you said. What price would you give for a fan after 4 hours of no electricity 😉.
The backup system can be done for GBP 200 worth every penny in my opinion. Electric/ fan / priceless at the time of need.
Hi I left Leeds 10yrs ago to live in Thailand now married with house and land. I called the pension office 3 days ago as that is 4 months before my 66th birthday in March. I will recieve a full pension but will miss out on future rises. I said that my birthday is just before the rise next year and was informed that that rate I recieve on my birthday will stay at that rate. I was informed from an ex military friend that if I went back to the UK for a period of time I would get the increase BUT when I left the country my pension would go back down to the same level from when it was first given to me.
Your friend is wrong. You can reset your state pension by returning to the UK but you have to get habitual resident status. There is no set time period for this and it is all about convincing the DWP assessor that you intend to make the UK your main resident Country. You have to apply for habitual resident status and the DWP reply to you by letter telling you if you passed or failed and if failed explaining why. If you fail you can reapply again once you think you can meet the criteria. If you look through the comments you will find links I have given that support the above.
You could defer your pension until April the 6th your entitled to do that then the new rate would apply in my opinion but I would also check.
I read with interest your comment, in this case why do they have the 185 day rule if you need to prove Habitual residence. Your entitled to move when and where you like you can decide in 6 months and one day to move, it's up to you. Habitual residence can also be a rental agreement or Hotel stay or Airbnb according to the guy I spoke too in D W P.
@@RetiredandLivingthedreamI reached retirement age last year and have deferred taking my pension as I wanted to see how the tax panned out this year. Once you reach retirement age age that is the rate you get and if you defer you don’t get get any yearly increases just the 5.8% a year which comes out at 1% for every 9 weeks you defer.
@@IsaanMan Thanks for that but still worth a call for one month. But at about 2.5% I think he would be able to sleep at night. Worth looking at in 5 years time.
