*** To better illustrate the purpose of this video *** Clarity jump (due to resolution increase but ALSO panel type): IPS 4K >> IPS 1440p OLED 1440p >> IPS 4K OLED 1440p >>>> IPS 1440p OLED 4K >>>> IPS 4K OLED 4K > OLED 1440p This is when comparing monitors of similar panel sizes and similar PPI (pixel-per-inch). As well, the closer you are to the monitor, the more noticeable clarity is but if not close enough, the PPI increase is lost. In summary, if worried about losing clarity by going OLED G6/OLED G9 over the OLED G8 2024, don't be unless you're sitting at 30-40cm from your panel. Go for the OLED G8 mainly because you want that extra panel size, or because you want Smart TV features. All three options are phenomenal.
I got the G80SD for USD 1k post discount, I sit in a bright room and 60cm away. I come from a 4K IPS that switching to OLED blown me away. I am not one to compare with other OLEDs but this monitor has good color contrast, OLED perks etc etc. so for anyone who does not sit 80 cms away from a gaming monitor/work PC I think this monitor is great and worth the price! dont let this video alone sway you away.
The goal never was to sway people away from the OLED G8. It is to not sway people away from G6 or G9 thinking they’d get lesser pixel clarity, they won’t, I wish I did. For sure they will versus a 4K IPS though, as you have. You prove my point, don’t you find it surprising that you went from 4K to 4K and yet it’s more clear? 😉 Congrats on the purchase, it’s a great panel no doubt!
@@GameTechTalk ok cool, but your title read is dont buy those monitors so starts off negative. so dont want people getting the wrong idea, Id rather read a title before you buy.... (monitor) watch this!
@@andressfelix2149 Ok I hear you, I didn’t see it like that but I get what you’re saying. Thanks for explaining your perspective as it taught me something. I’ll rework the title as I’m not trying to be negative towards the G8 but rather be positive towards the G6 and G9. Thanks a lot!
Hi Want to ask how is the text clarity on G8 or G6? I am planning to purchase for work(Coding) and Gaming. Thanks. I heard 2K monitors G6 text clarity is lower compared to G8 4K is it true?
@@ITechATechChannel I have not had that experience myself. I stand by my take which is, G8 over G6 for the resolution bump is mostly placebo, weirdly so because logically, more pixels equals sharper image, I know that. But that is not what going from OLED 1440p to OLED 4K has felt for me, contrary to doing the same thing on IPS, VA, TN, etc... That is unless you stick your face to 20cm to the screen. As for text for both versus other monitors, due to the pixel array that is used in every QD-OLED monitors by Samsung, text clarity is offputting for some people. Personally, it hasn't bothered me but keep in mind I've been using the OLED G9 for over a year prior, so it might just be a "I'm used to it" but in all fairness, even when I had just acquired it, it wasn't a problem either. Not that it's not there, but rather that it doesn't bother me even though it is. I hope this answers the question.
I got the new G6 a few days ago (my first OLED) and I love it so much I immediately decided to get the G8 next. I personally feel I would get a lot of use out of the smart tv feature. 👍
Ahhh yeah, that Smart TV feature is indeed exclusive to the OLED G8 (2024) and not present in the OLED G6. I like it but I do wish the AI upscaling features was available for more than just Gaming Hub. I would've loved to upscale the Nintendo Switch with Samsung's latest tech but everything else about it is awesome. Congrats on the panels! If ever you feel like it when you get the OLED G8, I'd love to know your opinion on if the 360hz makes a difference at all. Thanks for engaging!
I have the OLED G9 and the new OLED G8...I think the 4K is must sharper when it comes to text and productivity stuff over the 49" G9. They are both beautiful, though.
I can get behind the productivity aspect with text. With that said, I ended up returning both the OLED G8 and OLED G6 that I bought after making this video. I bought the Alienware equivalent of the OLED G6 just because it was so much cheaper.
Saying 4k is about the same as 1440p in Oled is a little bit too much I would say. I had the UW G8 for a year and as great that monitor is once I went to my friends house and saw his g7 4k IPS I could clearly see the difference from 60cms, the sharpness in games is a completely different story. I wouldn't say that is the case for movies but for gaming you can see a lot more detail, which is why I am hopping we get 4k g8s and g9s 2025+
Thanks for your inputs. I do want to clarify that 1440p versus 4K, on the right size of the panel, and at the right distance, is definitely going to be noticeable. With that said, when I compared the OLED G6 to the OLED G8 sitting at anywhere between 40 to 80cm of the panel, the difference was not substantial. It was just about non-existant. Maybe I just built a different relationship with hardware as a reviewer. To be analytical and evaluate things a certain way, to have a process. But let it be known, if we were in 2010 and I was just happy to bless myself with newer hardware, I wouldn’t have blinked twice. So in that sense, I’m not trying to insult people that buy the G8 OLED, it’s a great option. I’m only trying to let people know that they won’t be missing much if at all if they go OLED G6 rather or instead. A week ago, I had 5 different OLED panels to really test it all out, 3 of which were freshly bought. Because I did want to own one anyway and my original purchase was inconclusive with my goals. I have zero interest in telling lies or trying to make myself interesting by spewing things that I can’t first verify. With that said, I assure you, I know firsthand that many people disagreed with my take and that’s ok. I stand by what I said. 4K 32” QD-OLED Gen 3 offered no visible advantages over 1440p 27” QD-OLED Gen 3.
@@GameTechTalk I mean, it's your subjective point of view and that's ok. I have a friend that could not tell the difference between aliased vs antialiased games. It is something that has to be learned somewhat, the better equipment you get the more you see the differences. What you are saying would certainly benefit me so once I buy the G9 I don't have to think of a 4k G9 in the future but I can clearly see the difference in GAMING between 2k and 4k at reasonable distances.
You might want to check your eyes because 4k at 32 inches will have superior sharpness over the g9 at 49 inches. It is not even a debate. Not only is it higher resolution but a smaller canvas. And I cannot take you serious saying g6 over g8. Stop
That is the exact point, it shouldn't be debatable. And yet... But you can go ahead and buy both monitors and make a video showcasing why my eyes can't be trusted and yours can. I'd love to see what you do different! Give me a reason to not repackage this thing, please!
thx for the honesty man. Right now I have a 4k ips monitor and I am considering buying the oled g6 but every now and then the g8 comes to mind, now I can rest my brain and my finances.
Seems like this video will have helped a handful of people in the end. As it always was the purpose, I can move forward in peace now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yup, all features were set to match each other, down to the color calibration because I wanted to showcase the baseline difference in colors of the panel (if any) and it is impressively almost perfectly alike. As for "Protection Feature", I am not sure if this is something that has a different name, or straight up missing for the Canada model, which afaik is always the exact same spec and firmware wise, minus the model number. But yeah, I have not seen a feature called that so I'm unsure what you are referring to, sorry. If you can explain what that feature is, what it does, I would be able to check further if I have it, or if it goes by a different name. Thanks! I'm on firmware 1001 btw, no latest firmware past that one.
What about the white balance of the panel and color tone does it look warmer or cooler i do like cooler displays like LG always does. I don’t like warmer yellows in any displays
The G8 came out cooler, the G6 came out warmer. I was able to get them to match at approximately 90-95% after tweaking the G6 but out of the box, the G8 was definitely my preference color-wise (as I also prefer cooler).
@@GameTechTalk tnx for the response will it be same in all G8 panel or it varies panel to panel? I mean the white balance. I’m looking for cooler tone displays because previously i just bought alienware AW3225QF i couldn’t be happier with it Im fighting with DELL support for refund now before that i was using LG 27GN950 nano IPS which comes with proper white balance & cooler tone i got used to it hope G8 OLED won’t disappoint me I’m making huge decision just because you said i value your opinion hope it won’t be bad😅👍👍 Only OLED monitors available in my country is dell & samsung variant nothing other than that. I have only got these two options before watching your video i was planning to go for my previous panel 27GN950
@@Arno641 There is always a chance of having slight variations due to what is called panel lottery. I couldn’t comment on Samsung’s quality control but to tell you it’s impossible would be a lie, variations can occur.
It's a great monitor, can't really go wrong. If you prefer something glossy, I would suggest also look at the Alienware AW2725DF. Same panel, but not matte.
No, quite the opposite to be honest. The matte finish is pretty darn great, and that's coming from a guy that usually hates them. Samsung definitely convinced me there.
@@YGadgETech No no no, my bad, I did not express myself accordingly. I'm not saying it's greater than glossy, I'm saying that it is not a degradation like my other experiences with any other matte panel before it. It does not make the image look sharper, in fact, it could have played a factor as to why I couldn't perceive the jump in resolution as much? It never crossed my mind because if that was the case, I would've found the OLED G6 to not be as sharp as the OLED G9 and that wasn't the case either. With that said, for colors, brightness, saturation, contrast? The matte coating was basically like it wasn't there except for external light diffusion. Sorry for the mislead on my part, it wasn't intentional.
Hello, I have a question about the matte finish of the matrix of this Samsung g8 4k, does it significantly worsen the clarity of the monitor? I currently have a Samsung C27HG7x (it also has a matte coating) and I want to buy a better monitor, but I am afraid of the matte coating.
No, I ultimately changed to the Alienware G6 equivalent, that one is glossy and from the moment I had them side-to-side, it just further re-affirmed that Samsung did a PHENOMENAL job with the matte coating. I just went Alienware because of the price and G6 because I was not experience the benefits of G8, unlike the compromises. But rest assured that this coating is in no way a detriment to the picture quality of the G6/G8, and I should specify that I always have hated matte coating with a passion until that one. It was a proper shock.
@@GameTechTalk For me, 4k must be clearer than 1440p. I sit close to the monitor. The G8 has a 31.5-inch monitor, has a smart TV and many other applications supported by the NQ8 processor. Even if I bought a PS5, it's better to have a 4K monitor because the resolution is FHD and 4K is more compatible with PS5 than 1440p. Generally, I think that the G8 is basically a multifunctional device and that is why I am interested in this monitor, and not, for example, an Asus monitor with the same matrix, but with a glass one.
@@GameTechTalk If the G8 is on sale, I will buy it, there is a problem with availability and I don't know when it will be available in my country. Thank you for the information.
I see the neo g8 mini led looks yellowish. Did you let it stock? Oled monitor are great factory calibrated. You could mess with some settings to get neo g8 look colder.
Yup all screens were default. Since that video, I added the OLED G6 and Alienware equivalent. The G6 had a very different calibration than OLED G8 and G9 and was more akin colorwise to Neo Odyssey G8. I ended up returning the OLED G6 and G8 and kept the Alienware as it was more affordable and no handshake HDCP black screen “issues”.
@@GameTechTalkDid u face any white balance issues with OLED G8 (32) version? Im planning to buy it previously i was using alienware AW3225QF but ended up returning it since its white balance was atrocious looks yellow all over the sceeen when white image appears
Great! My G9 is getting here tomorrow! I got the 93 model without that damn hub. Wish me luck boys! Any tips for the burn in?Should I always run that screen optimization every 4 hours? Does it really take like 10 minutes each time?
Honestly, I am no example when it comes to burn in, I decided a while back that I couldn't stay "scared" and let that dictate my behavior so I'm the guy that never closes his screens, never closes his PCs. My OLED panels are always powered, I do use a screensaver so when I'm not using it, it does shift pixels around, there's that. So far no burn-in but if that really is important to you, stay far from my behavior 😅. In the beginning though I did all sorts of things, hide taskbar, adjust hud opacity in games I could, close the panel everytime I'm not using, run a pixel refresher video every day or so before going to bed, something like that: th-cam.com/video/LdbqwF_KCzI/w-d-xo.html And yes, optimization are a pain in the "beep", I let them run about 50% of the time, and based off of what I was doing, I sometimes cancel them.
@@pistol27pete I probably am misunderstanding. You are referring to 2:24 when I mention 4K is harder to drive but that’s ok and expected? I’d love to elaborate but I want to make sure I understand first. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I no longer have it with me, I kept the Alienware AW2725DF, with that said, the G6 had very very basic OS in comparison to the G8. I wouldn't be able to confirm but I would be surprised if that was a feature in all honesty.
Hello, I am currently using gigabyte m28u 4k 144hz IPS (300nit) and I like the G6 OLED model, but can switching from 4k ips to 2k'oled screen be a disadvantage for me in terms of image quality and text, clarity quality? Do you think I regret switching to 2k screen, do I feel the lack of resolution? 75% video and exel, 25% play games. Also, the brightness seems to be quite low, my current monitor is 300 nits and I think I would like more, although it actually works for me. The G60SD seems to have a brightness of 250 nits, which seems low.
***Warning, wall-of-text incoming.*** Alright, so for the record, I now have the OLED G8, the OLED G6 and the Alienware AW2725DF, I had to test things. I might do a follow up video, I might not. To answer your questions. The difference in nits, in my honest opinion, will be negligeable IF you play in a dark space. Your eyes adjust to let an ideal amount of brightness in. Sure, initially, you may see a slight difference but over short time, it'll settle. However, I would recommend using the OLED panel in HDR to just about nullify that concern you have. The QD-OLED Gen3 360hz panels do not have the same color calibration out of the box, the OLED G8 is better calibrated. I did calibrate the OLED G6 and got about 95% there, couldn't push it further as it has less settings unfortunately but I could do the rest in Windows. Highly recommended to calibrate it. The G8 also has a snappier (and more feature rich) OS, though that may be useless to you, as it is to me, except for the remote control, that's nice to have. For sharpness. I do not expect that you would see a noticeable difference if you sit at least at 40cm or more from your panel. Closer than that, the difference still remains not as impactful than versus jumping resolution on LCD tech, I have my doubts as to why that is but by the response from this video, I don't think people want to hear it. I also wouldn't expect a major uplift in colors because IPS is particularly good for that. The three mega obvious advantages will be deeper and more precise blacks, no more light dimming blooming and the best is the AMAZING response time of OLED panel. 120hz or 144hz on LCD tech (VA, TN, IPS) does NOT feel like like 120hz or 144hz on OLED. OLED is far smoother in frame by frame delivery. In fact, when I moved to my first OLED panel as pointed out in this video, I moved from a 4k 240hz VA panel to a 1440p 240hz OLED. Setting my OLED panel at 120hz almost feel as responsive as the VA 240hz, that's how much of a difference the response time of 0.003ms makes. The one disadvantage and the only real one in my opinion will be text clarity, with that said, I'm not picky on that and I spend most of my time working on these monitors, I hardly play because I have too little time from doing TH-cam. With that said, I would recommend going for the OLED G6 (or any other QD-OLED Gen 3 360hz equivalent) because you will not feel like you lost much clarity (to not say at all) but you will gain a considerable uplift in performance due to having to cast a lower resolution, which will help to rather push those FPSes. I am pretty determined on my end that I'll be keeping the Alienware because I got it for a great price and it's literally the same as the OLED G6 minus of course the frame, the stand. Oh and last, I sincerely think Samsung did probably what is the best job I've ever seen from a matte panel, that is a major concern I had that turned out to be very bearable. Sorry for the wall-of-text, I do hope this helps, ask away if you have more questions! :)
@@GameTechTalk Thank you, I think I can think about having more beautiful colors and better fluidity by sacrificing a little bit about text clarity. Finally, is there a situation that creates inhomogeneity on the screen, such as colors close to yellow or white to gray?
@@Butterflys07 That is a great question, and to be honest, I do not know the answer. I would think just from any other panel before it that it would shift over time but OLED is such a surprising tech when it comes to defying pre-determined expectations that I sincerely don't know what to tell you. If temperature, long exposure, direct sunlight, or any other else situation can cause color shifting over time, I'm sure it's been studied but to tell you that I know the answer would be a lie. Sorry to say I can't help you on that one.
Glad it was helpful! That dual-mode LG feature looks pretty sick! To be able to go 4k 240fps to FHD 480hz, if the OLED G8 leaves the premises, I might go for that one if I can catch a sale!
Hey, thanks! As far as I know, 12-bit colors monitor still don't still exist in the gaming space but I could be wrong. I was indeed using 10-bit colors, I tried both HDMI and DP in case I was running into a DSC anomaly but the results were exactly the same. Since that video, I bought the OLED G6, which I should point out, out the box, the color calibration was extremely different to the OLED G8 and OLED G9 (SmartTV model). I tried calibrating the OLED G6 to reference and got very close but couldn't (it has less calibrating options on-board than G8) so I had to finish the work using Nvidia Panel. I literally have repackaged both the OLED G8 and OLED G6 a few hours ago as I ordered the Alienware equivalent of the OLED G6, got it for 300$ less than the G6 and much like I said in this video, I have observed no reason for me to keep the 4K. OLED pixels are so precise, 4K is absolute overkill if I don't stick my nose to the actual panel. I also have replugged my 1440p IPS (PG279QM) which still looked great, don't know why I decommissioned that panel tbh but there is definitely a difference in sharpness versus the OLED G6 and I am not referring to post processing sharpness but rather raw visuals. Last but not least, 360hz is a more noticeable difference in my personal testings but it is still an extremely minimal jump (from 4ms to 2.8ms per image) and will only have any impact IF I can hit 360hz, thankfully at 1440p, the 4090 hits it way more than I thought it would to be honest, frame gen is of great help naturally. If I had replugged the IPS before doing all those testings, I might have bought the 500hz from Alienware to test too but at this point, I'm gonna stop there and put my monitor testings to rest until I feel ready to change a panel again. This is a considerably longer answer than you asked for but I hope it will answer any questions you may have had, if not, ask away, I'm an open book. Cheers!
The G8 UW, that's the 21:9 OLED right, the 1440p 175hz? I would say it is worth but also depending on what reasons. The bump in resolution will probably appear trivial to you at 1 meter away from the screen but you'll gain in vertical screen estate while losing horizontally. The bump in hertz and smoothness should be noticeable, you're also going from Gen 1 to Gen 3 of QD-OLED panel. I will say, the jump from Gen 2 and Gen 3 was less apparent to me than from Gen 1 to Gen 2 despite not being massive either. I think it's gonna be a good upgrade, as long as you know exactly what you're after. I would assume you were tired with curved and 21:9 and wanted to go back to 16:9 flat? If ever you can, I'd love to hear some feedback when you get yours but one thing for sure, it's a great panel, don't take this any other way, you will be greatly satisfied with the OLED G8. Last but not least, I would consider maybe bringing the panel closer to you if an option, the upgrade will feel greater and you can afford to get closer as you're going back to 16:9 flat. Cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk Honestly, I had no intentions of buying a new monitor, but when I saw the sale that the G80SD had, I preordered to lock in the price and started looking at reviews. The last 3 monitors I had were all curved so I thought I’d try flat this time and 21:9, while being great, sometimes is annoying during cutscenes where it defaults to 16:9. I’m still on the fence between cancelling it or not as in Australia, once you receive it, its yours no refunds. I also measured and I guess I was wrong, im at around 83cm away from my monitor. Also, great video, I appreciated the comparison with the g9.
@@xdynamics2561 Ouff.. That no refund policy is tough! I'm in the same boat as you basically, that price was appealing to me too. 😅 I am trying hard to convince myself to keep the G8. With that said, you have more to gain from your upgrade so there's that to mull over. I'm actually trying to revisit my setup to see if I can have my monitor much closer to my face. That would fix my "perceived upgrade" issue.
@@GameTechTalk Would you keep both the g9 + G80SD? I’m trying to gauge whether or not I’d lose out going back to 16:9. Trade off between more horizontal or more vertical space. How do you like the coating compared to the g9? Does the image look flatter?
@@xdynamics2561 That was the goal, to keep both. I LOVE gaming on the OLED G9, that 32:9 is second to none when properly supported but truth be told, I don't game as much versus benchmarking devices for my reviews. So it became the defacto monitor I edit on. The OLED G8 would be for whenever I want to move to my main PC as I prefer Windows to game (I edit on Mac) or watch stuff. I don't know if I will be capable. 21:9 and 32:9 is easy to not desire when having never experienced it. As I have... I'm tested for the first time and I don't know that I can step away from it, especially for what is virtually not an upgrade but rather a sidestep... Maybe if OLED G8 was that much better but it simply is not. I have benched about 20 games now on the OLED G8 and everytime, I've been missing the 32:9, and I can't feel the bump in resolution... It's a tough call.
I appreciate you saying you like my videos, thanks. I only am trying to serve consumers of what I found out, which believe me, I did not expect. I'm sorry that this makes me look like I'm trying to lie for clicks but I am not, and I get that it makes no sense.
Not one bit, in fact I'd argue it's a nice touch because as long as the room is dark, silver does a great job at reflecting the light it's surrounded by (or lack thereof). It's very discreet and fades away quite easily. Thanks for tuning in!
I see a smidge of difference with my OLED G9 (glossy) vs the OLED G8 (matte) but it’s extremely negligible. I was never a fan of matte panels before this OLED G8 but I got to say, Samsung might have converted me.
@@bloodknight2012 So unless there is a typo, both the AW3225QF and Odyssey G6 are matte. So is the OLED G6 (not the same model). The Odyssey G6 is not OLED, the AW3225QF is. Maybe I understood incorrectly but for all intents in purpose, I saw that comment as suggesting that OLED did improve clarity, which I will definitely agree, that's literally what I say in the video versus LCD (which the Odyssey G6 is, VA type panel precisely). What I'm saying in the video is that OLED G6 should not have less pixel clarity versus OLED G8 except if sitting very close to the monitor, 30cm close. That is bonkers on a 32".
got a g80 ordered because it was available for £840 in the UK and £100 cashback so £740.. which is like, half price of the asus/lg/gigabyte/msi here. Just got no idea when itll arrive, samsung dont even seem to know haha

@@GameTechTalk I hope so! I think I probably ordered a little late so I'm in like maybe a second shipment wave or something, hopefully get updated soon. One time that Europe has actually had a decent deal on something! Been reading all the usual about the matte coating and some people not liking that it's also a TV.. I think being a TV and monitor in one adds value personally!
@@alsius9162 Oh so I can speak on that. I bought the OLED G6 after making this video to really test things out and ended up buying the Alienware 2725DF too. Honestly, and that’s coming from someone that hates matte coatings, the new QD-OLED G.3 coating from Samsung is shockingly good, the best I’ve ever seen really. The Alienware I now have is glossy right? The difference is so minimal that quite frankly, I would have happily kept the coating from Samsung. I did end up returning both the OLED G6 and G8 but only because the Alienware was considerably cheaper in comparison but I assure you, it wasn’t £100 🤣🤣. I’m visiting the UK for the first time in about a month! Excited to be there!
@@GameTechTalk yeah it's strange how the Samsung in the UK is several hundred cheaper than the rest. Like £500 cheaper than the Asus, it's crazy. Glad to hear about the matte coating though, I'm excited to get it. Gotta say aswell, might just be the camera angle but both the oleds look way better in this video and the Samsung mini led Enjoy the UK! It'll probably be raining though 🤣
You bet! Probably not a video for my core audience but hopefully it'll help someone down the road. I'm still shocked, still trying different games but nope, 4k and 1440p look exactly the same crispness on these panels. Cheers!
Try games it will be different. TH-cam videos look amazing on my 1440p upscaled to 4k too as it's doing upscaling. But games look a lot crsiper in 4k than 1440p once you fire up games.
I'm down to about 12 different games tested and I have done so for approximately 30+ mins each. Don't get me wrong, if I put my nose to the screen and I aggressively look at the jaggies, sure. The panel is 2160p vs 1440p after all. I'm not illiterate as to how this should look, quite the opposite, but I get why it seems as though I am. I'm just baffled at the results I have in front of me and again, the jump on an IPS panel is not even up for discussion. The jump within OLED tech doesn't feel nearly as impactful, not even a little bit. What I'm trying to say is, much like the huge motion clarity, which OLED offers better performance over panels twice as fast in hertz on LCD tech (except if using BFI), I am coming to the unexpected conclusion that pixel clarity also makes 1440p OLED look sharper than 2160p on IPS panels, so much so that 2160p on OLED has a MASSIVE diminishing return. I may not have done a good enough job at verbalizing that but yeah, I'm just trying to let people know not to expect a jump if moving from 1440p OLED to 2160p OLED, or better yet, that if moving from 2160p IPS to 2160p OLED, there will be massive improvements to pixel clarity despite matching resolution (and panel size). But last, if you favor a super ultrawide, or a 360hz panel rather than 2160p? Buy with confidence as you won't be missing much, if at all, from a 2160p OLED in favor of 1440p 360hz. I get it sounds crazy, I really do. I don't know what else to say.
@@GameTechTalk thanks for the reply. I have a LG 45" ultrawide and use only for gaming, to be fair the ppi on that is only about 87. But the immersion on it is another level. It's oled 240hz. Just deciding whether to get the 32" Samsung instead. It's a tough one, 4k is crispy. But 45" curved is just something else a whole other beast!
@@robhewitt5640 That sounds like a decently significant jump, that’s nearly double the PPI. Assuming you sit at equal distance, I’d expect seeing a difference. The G8, during the first hour, gave me the illusion that it was curved backwards. Just a normal phenomenon from long exposure at curved panels but it’s good now.
*** To better illustrate the purpose of this video ***
Clarity jump (due to resolution increase but ALSO panel type):
IPS 4K >> IPS 1440p
OLED 1440p >> IPS 4K
OLED 1440p >>>> IPS 1440p
OLED 4K >>>> IPS 4K
OLED 4K > OLED 1440p
This is when comparing monitors of similar panel sizes and similar PPI (pixel-per-inch).
You never had an IPS though.
@@bloodknight2012 😂 Top-right monitor, Samsung Odyssey Neo G8.
@@GameTechTalk VA, not IPS.
@@bloodknight2012 You're right, my bad.
Congrats on the purchase, it’s a great panel no doubt!

Did both monitors have same settings? Did your turn off protection feture on new G8?
It's a great monitor, can't really go wrong. If you prefer something glossy, I would suggest also look at the Alienware AW2725DF. Same panel, but not matte.
Is the matte finish that bad? Compare to glossy QD OLED ?
No, quite the opposite to be honest. The matte finish is pretty darn great, and that's coming from a guy that usually hates them. Samsung definitely convinced me there.
@@GameTechTalk oh wow how it’s even possible ? It’s another layer that sits on top so how it can look greater? Does it sharper also btw ?

In the beginning though I did all sorts of things, hide taskbar, adjust hud opacity in games I could, close the panel everytime I'm not using, run a pixel refresher video every day or so before going to bed, something like that: th-cam.com/video/LdbqwF_KCzI/w-d-xo.html
And yes, optimization are a pain in the "beep", I let them run about 50% of the time, and based off of what I was doing, I sometimes cancel them.

hi, i wanna buy the 27" 360 hz, do u know if i can make it look like a 25" i mean whit the black bars up down and on the sides ?
***Warning, wall-of-text incoming.***
Alright, so for the record, I now have the OLED G8, the OLED G6 and the Alienware AW2725DF, I had to test things.
Thank you for the video. It was very informative. I will keep my ASUS OLED 27 for now.
Glad it was helpful! That dual-mode LG feature looks pretty sick! To be able to go 4k 240fps to FHD 480hz, if the OLED G8 leaves the premises, I might go for that one if I can catch a sale!
very good video and all,but u have all on hdmi or dp?10 bit or 12bit colours
Cheers!
I currently own a G8 UW and have the G80SD preordered. Think it's worth it? I sit a metre away from my monitor.

@@GameTechTalk He means that maybe you don't perceive the expected clarity jump to 4k because the matte coating holds it back.
@@bloodknight2012 So unless there is a typo, both the AW3225QF and Odyssey G6 are matte. So is the OLED G6 (not the same model). The Odyssey G6 is not OLED, the AW3225QF is.
@@GameTechTalk I'm in the minority here but I love curved panels, well on ultrawide, I don't see the point on 16.9 really.
