Samsung's obsession with matte needs to studied. Their phones and tablets have extra coating starting from their latest line up, their tv-monitor hybrid is matte, every monitor they release is matte with no room for diversity. So far only their TV's are safe from this hazy madness.
If you think matt isn't an issue - give us the contrast value. It's objectively and measurably worse while the pro part is actually subjective. This is a problem with OLED testing honestly, most took objective approach to testing until something doesn't fit their narrative, then any objectivity is threw off the window (everybody talked about OLED response time but no nothing about banding, suttering at low frame rate, grey uniformity while they are visual artefacts all the same)

I was aware of the matte finish and heard plenty of reviewers talk about how it wasn't to noticeable and seemed to be an improvement compared to other matte finishes while the also raving about how good the colors were. In my opinion, the matte finish ruins the monitor. The colors look washed. Sitting next to a glossy oled monitor it looks like a budget monitor. The richness of the colors is completely eliminated. The screen also has a slight haziness to it. It just doesn't look sharp. It is so bad that I thought I might have been scammed and somehow this wasn't a QD-OLED screen. Sadly, it is. It just isn't any good.
That's a shame. I was hoping to see someone comment something like this. Saw the S95D with it's matte coating on the other day, same 65" size as my S95B and the difference was very noticeable... It's good OLED is getting a whole lot more resilient, which is great, but really it should be glossy in a dark room to really enjoy it. I'm stuck on whether to get the AW3225QF or this. The LG 32GS95UE is the perfect looking display, but not good enough to justify the price. 2025 I guess 🤞
Having this screen one this bothers me that I think bothers a lot of PC gamers with very hi refresh 4K monitors - no option to disable DSC. I love playing OW and Fortnite at 240fps but I want to play some high fidelity games tuned to my PC. On my Samsung M7 I can run Star Wars Outlaws at 1800p with DLSS Balanced on my RTX 4070 and it looks fantastic. On this monitor I it would look at incredible locked to 80fps at 1800p but I can't do that. It's 1440p which looks notably worse or 4K which can't hold 60fps. First world problems indeed.
Why put a matte finish on a monitor that's primary going to be used for gaming or media consumption? This wont be in an office where you cant control the light in the environment. Dell choosing to make their curved was equally as perplexing. Unfortunately in Europe all the other 4k Oled options are between 300 - 500 euro more.
I really liked the design and the remote, so I bought it. However, if you’ve had OLED monitors before, this matte coating will disappoint you. You can even see in this video how noticeably duller the contrast and blacks appear. The color vibrancy is also noticeably reduced. For me, it’s unacceptable. Not everyone should be penalized by the disadvantages of a matte coating just because some people live in sunny, bright rooms and can’t control their lighting. The whole picture looks soft and un-OLED-like. Needless to say, I returned it and am now going with Gigabyte or Asus versions.
Do you always complain this much? No one is penalising you, if you don’t like matte OLEDs then just don’t buy one. A matte OLED existing doesn’t “penalise” you in any way.
Had the G80SD and I would skip it if you use dark mode. The white text on a dark background will have a lot of rainbow fringing at 100%-150% scale at a distance of 24".

I strongly disagree with your opinion on matte qd-oled, to me it looks awful in a bright environment, like at 0:41 or 3:25, the entire display is white / hazy. The overall image is grey and contrast terrible. The AW was so much better in my very bright room. Even your data says otherwise (even though close numbers like those might not be significant) : - Total reflexion of the G8 is 2.1% while glossy qd-oled are 1.2% - Same for the indirect reflexions (1.6% vs 0.7%)
Totally agree. I returned mine too.currently deciding between Aorus and Asus.People coming from IPS might not notice, but if you’ve had OLED before, this will disappoint you. The picture looks washed out, dull, and soft because of that matte film they put on the screen to hide their QD raised black problem.
Such a great monitor. But the bezel, that silver bezel, it's just too distracting. I cannot fathom why samsung didn't just put a nice thin coat of black over the front.

Even your data says otherwise (even though close numbers like those might not be significant) :
- Total reflexion of the G8 is 2.1% while glossy qd-oled are 1.2%
- Same for the indirect reflexions (1.6% vs 0.7%)
Totally agree. I returned mine too.currently deciding between Aorus and Asus.People coming from IPS might not notice, but if you’ve had OLED before, this will disappoint you. The picture looks washed out, dull, and soft because of that matte film they put on the screen to hide their QD raised black problem.
"cutie oled"
Such a great monitor. But the bezel, that silver bezel, it's just too distracting. I cannot fathom why samsung didn't just put a nice thin coat of black over the front.
I have and old lg lcd tv 720p with the same silver bezel, never felt distracting by them

Matte coating destroyed this OLED.
Definitely a divisive choice 😅
If it's matte there's no buy
Not for me. I prefer it to the sensitive semi-glossy coating of the other QD-OLED monitors with purple tint.
All people commenting this and liking are most likely people who hasn’t seen this monitor.. Yes glossy is generally better in most cases but if you have spent time with it you’d know you can not just label it Matte as we usually think.
So tired people being morons
@@ALI-soon1Milli maybe it isn't as bad as we think but I've had a matte OLED before, first gen LG and the coating was horrendous. Every bit as bad as everyone says
Gross matte coating. Edit: $350 USD more than the MSI 321 URX, and does the smart features (Tizen OS) startup automatically? If so massive massive con like dealing with "smart" features like ads.
I paid about 2/3 what the 321URX costs for mine. You also never haver to see Tizen if you don't want to after setup.
Nop. I am sorry the coating is really not gross. It is actually great. I would buy that every day over the one the FO32U2P had. It is not really „glossy“, it is a plastic film on top. Crazy bad.
@@interceptor001 U mean the coating of the fo32u2 is bad ?
@@ghinochips5842 Yes
@@interceptor001The problem with the semi-glossy "plastic layer" coating of the other QD-OLED monitors is that it scratches very easily. It's not like the coating on an LG TV or a phone.
This monitor has so many bugs and errors from its software. Do not recommend
monitors need to move past matte. when you showed off the matte i cringed as it looked like someone smeared grease all over the panel.
USB-A in 2024 for that price? LMAO.
It looks so washed out it this video
matte coating... disgusting
especially on a display that only work well in perfect dark XD.
Samsung, nothing but problems. As always
Glossy also looks disgusting in ambient light.
The bots are in full force on this one. The "smart" TV features are a huge hindrance and not worth it compared to the competition.
Had this for a couple of months and the Smart TV features are nothing short of fantastic!
3:03 - matte coating look like a 💩
Every other QD-OLED monitor would be completely purple in these lighting conditions.
@@User-ys7cb But you’ll still get punchy, vibrant colors even in bright rooms. With this one, though, the colors will always look soft and washed out unless you’re in a pitch-black room. A big price to pay just for some anti-glare.
Also it doesn’t fully resolve purple blacks.thats a QD-OLED problem.
INNOCN 32" Mini LED 4K UHD is this a good buy instead?
Matte looks disgusting especially on a white image you can see the sparkle and grain just diagusting.
People claiming to not be able to notice the obvious difference are the same ones who claim they cant see above 30 FPS
I have a OLED Samsung TV (gloss) and the G80SD (matte) and don't notice any differences at all
