Hi Ryan, Great video! My wife and I are moving from Cebu to Phnom Pehn September 5th. Its our fourth time visiting Phnom Pehn but this coming visit will be long term. We love Phnom Penh.....Thank you for the helpful hints to have a better experience. 😊
We usually ask them "What is your bottom price" and walk away. The price can drop dramatically. Back in the 60s, Psa Toul Tompoung aka the Russian Market, there were some few shacks here and there with a lot of dirt roads around the area then. In late 1979 after the Pol Pot forces were defated, they started to open up the market but we did not have the Khmer currency yet so we had to trade everything with either gold or rice only. The Russians started to arrive and they like to shop there so they started to call it the Russian Market. That seems just like yesterday. We're coming this November and we can't wait. Be kind, be cool, and don't comb your hair!
Yup. This one was a banger. I'll be in Cambodia this fall and this channel has hit me with some of the best info video after video. Anyone got any other channel recommendations?
I couldn't agree more. I've been living permanently in PP for over 10 years. I've been to the Russian market many times, but I don't know any of those places. You keep hearing about great places to eat in the Russian market but they can be hard to find. At least with the videos I'll have a chance lol
Appreciate the advise man! Heading into Cambodia the end of this month and staying for 3 weeks. Super excited and I’ve really enjoyed watching all your videos regularly in the months prior, to help me prepare for my trip! Once again thanks dude and I appreciate ya
Ryan, make a day trip to Nak Leung and have fresh water prawn sour soup or grill. They are very good. It's the first thing I would do when I visit Cambodia.
Ryan, I found your channel while looking for food videos on what was planned to be a 40 day water fast that I ended on day 22. Brings back strong memories. I wanted to say, you could try out the fruitarian diet, especially when it's really hot out, makes you feel cooler
@@itchyfeetonthecheap I lived in Ecuador, ate a lot of granadillas and fererro noggys. Lived in China, ate a lot of restaurant food and expensive chocolate bars. Never even tried a mangosteen. All those fruit stands. Got sick after I left China and had to learn about detoxing. Now I'm growing cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, rotting cantaloupe and watermelons aren't ready. I want to eat tropical fruit
150 th water festival ( Bun Om Touk) and 70th Anniversary Independent in November. Phnom Penh wows to have amazing fireworks, boat races, concerts, amazing boat parade at night and 3 days party and many more in waterfront of royal places. Hope you can attend and videotape. If yes, You should try to get hotel room so you can walk to the events.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap we were at Bun On Touk 2019 ( last big one before COVID). They have special seating for international people to watch the boat race. Look for them in front to get good shots. So many people especially on the last day. We saw a glimpse of the king leaving…
It's funny that many original brand like Nike, or Under armour are made and export from Cambodia to sell in Europe market, but in Cambodia itself import the fake produce to sell. Anyway it's a good price with acceptable quality. If you know anyone who working in the factory making those clothes you can buy an original t-shirt inexpensive from them.
Awesome Vart as usual!, really good info on the local area around the market. Breakfast lunch and dinner sorted with dessert thrown in for good measure. Keep up the great work promoting the Kingdom of wonders, much appreciated. ( watch out for those dirty rats 😂😂😂)
I think so, but depends what you're looking to do. I should have included hotel options in this video. La Chronique is suppose to be nice. Or Queen Mansion does short term stays too. Little apartments.

Funny how people (even expats) go out for breakfast in the morning and it’s always a lunch meal like a sandwich or bowl of noodles. Guess I was expecting bacon & eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee… in other words an actual breakfast. I know… we’re not in Kansas anymore Toto! Lol
Hey guys! Love the vids, I just subscribed to you, and I'm flying into Phnom Penh in 23 days! I've got my TEFL certificate from myTEFL (please tell me it's legit!), have a hostel booked for the first 2 weeks, and away I go looking for a teaching job!
Good luck with the job search. Try Aii Language Center. They have a few locations around the city. I don't know much about the language schools, but I'll let you know if I hear anything.
@phlezktravels I'm not sure about now. Before, you need key to access them. You get the whole thing from Toul Tumpoung market. For instance, I paid $5 for a Coreldraw suites. That was hundreds of dollar here if you buy them from the company in Canada.
was there hard recycled gray russian toilet paper in the russian toilet? heheheh it makes dumps tough! probably made of recycled prison mattresses people have died on.
Great information for those interested in moving to Cambodia. I'm sold.
Boom prices go up. Thanks youtube and dopey bloggers exposing everything.

Oh so you like hearty oats! Noice. Avocado 🥑 🤩
I would love to go there; great guide Ryan.

im visiting phnom penh now and this was super helpful! got a few places saved on my map now
Thanks for that. I live on 460 and I didn’t even know some of these places existed.
I was surprised by the Welsh Consulate; intriguing!
Thank you!
Much nicer, cleaner and less pushy market just across the river.
Across the Monivong bridge?
Totally in the market for a new muffler.
The Teddy Bear bar is nice too! I lived 6 months in TTP. It's a good area and definitely better than the Riverside area! Very few dodgy people in TTP!
Nice one man. So stay by the market when I visit PP?
Make sure to get breakfast at Lot 369 if you do

Oh cool, I'll write that down@@itchyfeetonthecheap
My mother-in law lives across the street.
You probably love your mother in law.
Wow! Great recommendations!
Nice vid, very informative...😎
Nice video. Cheers. I’m hoping to rent an apartment in that area in a couple of weeks.

Is there nightlife in the Russian Market area?
Knick-knack, paddy whack, give your dog a bone 😂😅🤣

Why no American market?
Pretty much no one likes americans that much outside of the US. And there is a historic reason for the name russian market.
Every cambo fried rice i got was bland.
was there hard recycled gray russian toilet paper in the russian toilet? heheheh it makes dumps tough! probably made of recycled prison mattresses people have died on.
SLAVA UKRAINE! 💙💛
Totally in the market for a new muffler.
