    Holy moly, rent in Thailand is waaaaaay cheaper and waaaaaaay nicer, not in some small rural place, a busy place like Pattaya, you get a gorgeous modern condo, 300m from the beach, with a beach view for 200-300usd, Cambodia is way more expensive for way less!

    Good info. My budget is $400 and am currently in an apt in siem reap for $250. I run my AC 19hrs a day and it's $50. I put foil over my windows to keep it cooler and i like a dark bedroom. Noise and cig stink are my issues to watch for in a new place. Not much good to want to enjoy a cool, quiet morning on the balcony with cig smoke gushing up from below.

    "Nick and Raychel" youtube channel lived and worked in Cambodia for a year. They said they really regret renting an apartment in BKK 1. They wish they would have rented in Russian Market instead. They said they were going to Russian Market all the time anyways and transportation costs really add up.

    Cambodia just a developing country. So we can’t compare to another developed countries, but I think Cambodia is a good place for us to visit. If you’re traveling to Cambodia I recommend you to visit Bayon temple, Angkor Wat temple and another temple in Siem Reap province. There are many temples in Cambodia Filled with sculptures and designs on each temples wall. When I looked at the sculptures on each temples wall, I’m so wondering why they can do that? It’s so interesting. Well come to Cambodia

    Fan life. The only time I use the AC in my Thailand apartment is midday on an especially hot day, which is a few times a month. At first I didn't like the fan at night thing, but I adapted and prefer it over AC now. My power bill is 9 bucks a month, others I know that run AC at night spend 60. Still not a huge amount, but getting rid of the AC is a big money saver in SEA. Surprised how much rent is in PP. Seems supply and demand should be driving those prices down farther than what they are.

    • @itchyfeetonthecheap
      @itchyfeetonthecheap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rent, compared to everything else, is pretty crazy here. The place we ended up in is $750 a month and people are saying we got a really good deal. Apparently, it would have been a thousand a few years ago. I have a feeling, as more buildings go up and less people come here, prices will continue to drop.

    • @hopfrogg9599
      @hopfrogg9599 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@itchyfeetonthecheap Yeah that's baffling compared to the prices in Vietnam and Thailand. Especially considering the salaries are generally lower there, unless you land in one of the international schools in PP, which I'm assuming you two have done. I suppose there are a lot of big money real estate investors that can afford to hang onto properties long term without dropping rent too much. Looking forward to more videos, Cambodia is a great country.

    I dispute one point on ac. I'm out half the day. Usually the hottest time of day. Use of fans a must. The real problem is the rate. They jack up the government rate. Electric included is the best way to go if possible. I'm a spoiled American with the ac; I've always had it. Can't sleep in a hot room, but 72°F or so at night isn't bad. Unit isn't working as hard at night. 👍🇰🇭

    The only time to look for housing in Cambodia is in Sep and Oct. so you can see the flooding in your area. In 8 years I have mostly followed my own advice except once and then I spent several days in Oct 2020 in Battambang, Watt Co area with several inches of water on the floor. The street was flooded for 5 weeks.

    The biggest rental mistake I ever made (also in Vietnam) was the same mistake you made. I will never rent a house again. I dispatched more than 80 cockroaches. One time I came back after a couple of weeks, turned on the air con and half a dozen roaches fell out of the machine. Chased a big spider out of the house (Huntsman, I think.) Another thing, there's no security if you go away, like in a condo. And yes, too much upkeep. I walked away from a 1-year rental and deposit after 5 months.

      It's not that expensive. Compared to other parts of Cambodia it is, but it's where the work is.

    Ok ...so you're settled in Cambodia. What's the name of the brothel? If you rent in the Russian market, and you're late in paying your rent, do the Russian break you leg? By the way, you definitely look better; it could be because in Quito you weren't getting enough oxigen into your brain . Take care bro !!!

      When I was in Quito I got a brain scan and the doctor told me I had a smooth brain.

    This video could have been half the length & far more useful without the stupid little asides & attempts at humour. I nearly gave up about half a dozen times with the inane prattle rather than focusing on useful information
