Great explanation!. My issue is a little different. When I plug in the HDD, it shows the drive, but no name. (Only Local Drive), but when I unplug the HDD, I briefly see the drive name (Segate). It will not allow me to access properties (to get to the security option), but if I pull the HDD while trying to access this feature, it populates the security option, but I cannot change it while the HDD is connected. I ran the "Getmydata" application and it seems I am having an i/o 23 issue, which is resolved by changing the permissions, but it just won't let me past it.
Correction: For the part "Check and fix system error", the "chkdsk" command is not open via DISKPART command, just a regular CMD window with Admin Priviledge will do.
did you see EVERYONE in the user list in the first solution? if not you need to add it by typing "everyone" in the ADD menu under security tab of properties.
I did this and when I do ur tricks manually It shows my External HDD and I trasfer my data into this, It works well for 5 or 7 times bt later again my pc doesn't detect this HDD and again when I try ur trick it shows my HDD bt all my data is lost. why this happening again & again ????

my hdd crashes my system and file explorer, as well as make sure i cant power off, cant exit any app, it freezes them and gives the "not responding" message for the app i tried to close when i right click or click the hDD
