Still works in 2020 thanks a lot....I accidently cancelled my format and was facing this issue. Even diskpart was not able to recognise the drive. After following your steps, did format using diskpart and now the drive is good as new.

Hello sir, my WD hard drive was earlier showing the message of formatting the disk. To resolve , I went through your video......after that when I again connected the drive.....its not showing on the laptop......there is blinking in the drive when I connect the drive....I also get the notification sound.....its detecting it.....but not showing in 'This PC'......as if there is no drive connected through USB port

I have a corrupted internal hard disk, right now I'm using that internal HDD as external device using USB cable & my system is running on SSD. I've followed the procedure by using chkdsk command in CMD as administrator & fixing operation was successful for the selected drive of the corrupted HDD, but still I can't open the drive. It's showing "parameter is incorrect,drive is inaccessible" like earlier. Please help me with any other options to recover data from corrupted drive..

I didn't get exactly what you did after you input the command "chkdsk i" my problem with my 1TB little different, the hard drive not showing at all on My Computer but it showing on the disk management as "Unallocated" I want to access the drive without format it or lose data, the disk almost full of very important data for me, if you can help suggest any solution would be so grateful, Thanks.

This worked for 1 partition but the other partition it is saying -
The type of the file system is NTFS.
The first NTFS boot sector is unreadable or corrupt.
Reading second NTFS boot sector instead.
Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted.
Kindly let me what needs to be done.
finding same issue with my external HDD, on CHKDSK showing type of file system as FAT32, after that msg displays as "an error occurred while reading the file allocation table (FAT 1)" & then same for FAT 2 and finally msg displays as "there are no readable file allocation tables (FAT).....please help in recovering my drive
Dear I have run the same command “chkdsk /f /r” but after stage 2 the following message displayed “An unspecified error occurred 6672732e637878 5e4”

how to check the drive to see if anything was written to it before it stopped working? the white light on my wd external drive doesnt come on, it worked on my old pc, not on new one, i tried a laptop i couldn't figure out. please help. I can still rma wd but dont want until i verify nothing is on the drive.
