Great review of a watch that punches above its weight. Just picked one up from Argos for £19.99.

I have just received mine. It is the same screw-down case version (the previous version was snap-on back) but the dial is lighter colour. I bought it to replace my Seiko SNK809 because I have realized that automatic watches are not for me (goes off too often because I don't wear it every day). I like that it is thinner than the Seiko.

I have had mine for a week or so. Great watch, well worth the money. Lume is only good for a couple hours though which was disappointing. Had it in the shower, no problems. Very light on the wrist and I wear it all the time now. Second does not hit the indices but oh well.

Thanks for the review, just got mine for the 20 at Argos. I honestly can't think of a better value beater.

I was going to buy a steeldive automatic 1970 but decided on one of these for practicality £30 from argos, may still get the willard......

Does the lumibrite turn on by itself in the dark, or is it necessary to press the crown?

As long as it has been exposed to a light source relatively recently the dial will glow in the dark. Its photoluminescence rather than electroluminescence 👍⌚️

Was just about to order one from Rubicon, but then i saw that the ones they have are Snap on case backs. Weird to have two different watches under the same model number...a bit shady.

Nice one Tony! You've just bought yourself a little gem of a watch.... with preternatural luminescence!! 💡💡💡

It's a shame it's not available where you are - keep an eye on Amazon or eBay and one might turn up 👍⌚

If you couldn't find this particular watch due to scarcity, try its JDM sister model from Seiko's Japanese market only Alba. The reference no. is AQPJ403 with minor difference on day window. Other specs are all the same, titanium case, quartz movement, 10atm water resist, etc. And for people who like simpler dial, you could also check the AQPK401 or AQPK403 model for comparison.

    isn't it 35mm?

What l have noticed about these watches is that the second hand hits the marker every time.
Tag watches that cost well over a grand don't every time.
    Makes you think doesn't it?

Nice watch, is this the 50£ watch on the net?

Basically wafer-thin? Weights as much as a feather?
    Cool it with inaccurate exaggerations.

You should test it after one or two hours in the dark and see how much can glow

Thanks for the comment - yes, in a way it's good to try and show the longevity of the luminescence, but it's very difficult to recreate how 'adjusted' or 'night' eyes view the lume in situ. Suffice to say the lume on this little Loris will continue for a number of hours quite readily 💡💡💡

If it was a proper military watch, that "24" hour printing would read "00" because in military time, there IS NO 2400 hours. You go directly from 2359 to 0000 hours. Besides, the watch is clearly marked "Sport", so this is a sport model for civilians.

Historically 24 hour mark is EXACTLY how military watches were ordered :) Read about dirty dozen and field watches.
