I own both a lorus lumibrite and a timex weekender with indiglo. I can attest the lumibrite is in fact "thermoneclear" bright right after charging the paint with light. Maybe a bit brighter than the indiglo. However the thermonuclear glow drops to slightly visible in an hour and barely visible in 2. The indiglo OTOH is full bright every time you touch the the stem - no matter what time of night. Award goes to Timex as the more useful watch lume system. The Lorus is good to impress your friends if they dont hang around for long.
I recently purchased this watch and I'm very happy with it, very easy to read dial in low light but I did replace the strap for a better one, overall great value for money
I have had one for 20 years, i would never change to another type. It loses one second every three months !!!!!!!!!! The battery lasts for 5 years. Waterproof to 100M. I have 20 different straps that i change regularly to get an alternative look.
I have this watch and it is my favorite of my 8 watches. Only thing to be hoped for in the next version is titanium case and saphire crystal, then it would be perfect. Lumbrite and day/date are the main reason I bought it, along with steel case and 100m. Perfect day to day watch.
These watches are great and keep excellent time but I agree that the strap lets it down. I bought a nato strap for the two I own and seeing that they are on offer again at only £20 I’m going to order another one. So do I like these watches hell yeh, they are a great everyday watch and a talking point too as when I walk into my local for a pint I can guarantee that someone will ask about the watch.
I have just picked it up on offer here in the U.K. I have a few watches some expensive but for the price it looks a million dollars has you said the strap is not now big enough for the average mans wrist I am loving the lumibrite
Good review do you know if they make one with a black bezel? I never knew you have to charge the lume up with a light 😮 I never had to do this as a child on a cheap kids I remember the watch dials was always very bright when it was dark

I have one ... lumibrite effective all night ... very nice little watch ... accuracy for mine is minus 2s/week and no probs with the strap .. so a good watch for a cheap price

It should be mentioned that the springbars are not springbars, but are fixed in their position. This means you can't get them off, and in turn you can't use a two-part strap. At least it is so on my build of it. Other than that, it's just a beautiful little thing :)

This is the Lorus RJ655AX9 since it has screw-on case back.
The RXF41AX7 has press-on case back.

Didn't weigh it but it is pretty light.
I prefer the Timex indiglo. A push of the crown illuminates the entire dial. You only get light when you need it.

You should test it after one or two hours in the dark, and see how much can glow
Still very legible hours later if you've been out in the sun wearing a t shirt.. but nowhere near as bright..

Mine won't lume worth a crap even after exposed to bright light for a long period of time. After about 10 minutes it turns into a faint glowing blob.
There are some cheap Chinese knock-off copies that do that.
Lume dont last long on these though!

Had mine for two years they don't have fixed spring bars, you push the pins out through the holes on the lugs..

Is it a 1 piece strap? I heard you can't put a 2 piece straps on this watch as the rods are not removable.
The strap isn't wide enough at 18mm . 20mm would of been the better choice .

Screw down crowns are a feature indicative of dive watches. You will find the feature on dive watches and watches that claim to be dive watches.
