Many other great mobile OSs died the same way. I used to love web OS by palm and then Maemo on the Nokia N900 but just because of similar factors both of those just died. Corporations and people have themselves pushed the situation to this point, all kinds of creativity and excellent operating systems will be gone, just because people become impressed with celebrities rocking their iPhones or Android devices. I have nothing against Android or Iphone but I believe people should have more choices and sadly they are diminishing one by one!

BB 10 isn't gonna end like Symbian or Palm OS. it's more complex OS Than they are. it's running on the most modern Qualcomm chips. RIM said BB OS is not going to end. as long as we work with android base We will provide security and durability updates on BB OS. If android market somehow crashes on itself Who knows BB OS can be born with its own ashes. Because if there is no external pressure on this brand from android's cheaper policies especially, BB OS would be strongest mobile OS in the world.
Use both my Passport SE and my PRIV and just bought a Passport limited edition Red. My Passports work so great and smooth no lag at all! Never with amazing multitasking. On my PRIV actually surprised how good it is also and running smooth under mm. Now in 2017 Nougat is coming to PRIV so looking forward to that! But yes it is Android! and Yes favourite is BB10OS. keep those videos coming !
I finally bought the bb classic and will pick it up in December when I'm back in Germany! Beautiful device and for me, I don't need all that app stuff. It's nice to have but also productivity killer and time eater. My opinion! Keep the good work up.

Excellent video! I couldn't agree more. There is no better phone experience on earth than BBOS 10 devices. I am one that left BlackBerry OS for iPhone and Android and then even tried the BlackBerry Priv and still came racing back to BBOS for the fluid experience, amazing keyboard and stable battery life. I now have 2 Passports and I have no intentions of leaving BBOS 10 until I absolutely have to. Great video. Keep them coming!
I think Blackberry wouldn't kill BBOS. There should be an option while starting up device to choose one from two os options. Either Android or BBOS could be choosable.
that's what I'm thinking as well. But you have to choose when you buy it at the store not on the startup. like Blackberry would release a phone with a BB10 & an android OS option (with the android version a little more expensive) but I don't think it they would actually do it though.
Jan, I love BlackBerry OS 10. And even below. But the apps in the BB World and Amazon Appstore just can't compete eith Android or iOS. I hope that BlackBerry would make android phones with the classic design.

i really loved my blackberry classic. sturdy, easy to use, and has a premium feel. unfortunately, i had an issue with the calls. there was a time when whenever someone called me, the phone would stop working and i needed to hard reset it all the time. so i had to let it go. i didn't want to, but i had to.:(

I´ve never used a Blackberry before (I mean: I didn´t have a personal BB phone) but I hold in my hands a lot of them and explored their system functions and they look pretty good. The only one problem is that BlackBerry decided not opening to the new changes like a TouchScreen when they appeared and also the external keyboard and the small screen. But If the could do Blackberry 10 better with more functions and more freedom I´m sure that they could recover the sucess that they have lost
I switched to a BlackBerry Priv at the beginning of the year. There are definitely features that I miss about BB10 (and my Passport SE), but I just got tired of workarounds and stuff not working easily on BB10. I turn on my Z30 once in a while and mess with it and still love the software functionality, but I don't want to have to worry about an app working or crashing or the app support being cut off.
When I first used the PRIV i had a lot of problems as well. But I guess after two weeks you can deal with it. I hope the can improve android a bit in the future and implement a lot of BB10 features :)
Wow, I can tell you got my Priv on Friday and set it up and use it for 30 minutes, sold it straight the way to someone locally and went back to my beloved Passport SE, nothing can beat the passport and BB10. Didn't realise how much I was in love with the BB10 and passport until I had my hands on the Priv, but it took no time for me to go back to Passport. I lost 40 AUD by reselling the Priv but the expereince was good and I knew in definite now I am a BB10 person and plaaned on buying another PAssport SE when the price drop even lower in 2017 for a backup phone in case anything happened to my current passport SE.
I was really disappointed at first too, when I got the PRIV. But then I installed Marshmallow, used it for a while and you begin to like things about it as well. It takes some getting used to, but till now I also still prefer BB10. :)

I've been stuck with an ancient Android phone for the past couple of years. Even though it's unwieldy to have two different phones,, I have been saving up for both a BB Passport (Silver or AT&T edition) as well as the new (and likely final) in-house BB with Android in the future. I've tried to adapt to a world where psychical QWERTY keyboards are a critically endangered species-- and I just hate it. It's the reason why I refused to move on from my Palm Centro and Palm Pre for so long.

I loved BlackBerry 10 the hub was great on it. I have DTEK60 now - the hub is not as smooth as bb10 and some of the blackberry apps don't seem to be as complete as the ones on BB10. I found with BB10 I didn't have many third party apps as the phone came with so much. have downloaded quite a few for my android to get similar experience. I do find there is access to great apps on Android that can make you do so much more with your phone. I'm happy with DTEK60 except I can't change the LED notification colours! definitely best blackberry phone though, even better than the passport in my opinion. But which one you choose is all relevant to what you use your phone for, I use mine for a lot more media related things. Took me a while to find an app that could match the BB10 movie maker and I had to pay for the app too! BB10 just comes with so much crammed into the device. I wish things had been different for BB10. They should have stopped wasting time with different versions of the Curve - and just pushed the Q10, Z10 and Z30 out with a big launch and some decent marketing.

BlackBerry... and there was a lot about stopping WhatsApp... you where right, it's going on till June at least, but Google + did stop suddenly, the browser is too old they told me , all things of Google i had to install again...now i have a Priv...i..realy hope ,it was a good choice, thanks for all your help! thanks, Allie

Blackberry Passport SE is second to none the best phone ever created! If they were smart they would make a dupe of it with android and a 4:3 screen as with android that is the closest you can get to the awesome 1:1 Ratio of our beloved Blackberry. It still would not be like BB10 but maybe with a phone like that and then working on software to use more swipe gestures to get their launcher as close to BB10 as possible, it would work! Once enough people adopt it, they have BB10 in the background. I also say add a virtual run-time for cascades to add blackberry world to their android phones as well as the play store. Cash in on the failures...

I just got a BB Passport a few months ago and i just love it. I particulary don't mind the lack of social apps. I feel strange all the times i pick up an android phone. But to be fare, i do miss google maps, it was the only one i couldn't install. TH-cam, Goggle Docs, and play store run fine, but maps don't. I do run Waze, that's a famous mapping app here in Brazil, but is not the same.
once again your spot with BB10 that's its the best operating system and my android crap phone has no idea how to be a great phone yet . when my passport is fixed again I'll use it once again . if it can't be fixed I'll get another silver passport . i feel with an android phone its 10 years behind .

I have tried recently Passport Silver, Classic and Q10, and my conclusion is "DO NOT BUY". They are good for phone calls and emails, but that's it. There is nothing else. All the apps are very old, facebook , twitter, dropbox, evernote, etc. they have stopped supporting BB10. However, if you really need to study and focus, buy a blackberry, because you cannot play with your phone.
Try the fast tube app from Blackberry world... has no adverts, it is fast and you can comment and the best part, is that you can download videos to watch later, like on a flight... BB10 is still my base and hoping for many long years too... nice video btw

omg how did you get TH-cam working on the passport? I have to use really shitty third party TH-cam apps and there awful but the one from the play store doesn't work with google services
Nice post, couldn't agree more! Sure, BlackBerry Android is great and does the job, but bottom line is that: BB10 Just as an independed OS, not taking apps in consideration, is the superior OS by far :) Just some examples in addition to Jan's: - playing music on TH-cam with the minimazed App - contacts syncing and integrating by default with social media accounts contacts - a decent task manager, to monitor your device - a decent stock file manager and other stock apps like a calculator and weather App - to just turn off the mobile network radio instead of using airplane mode - stock (network) file sharing options - the many different adaptable sound profiles Sure, for all of the above you can probably download various apps, but for me these are all just small, basic and essential things that any OS should have.
I am a blackberry 10 person. Love their system. I hated the android ones. Please BB keep improving the 10 OS. Who cares about other applications like instagram or snapchat. And most people carry more than one phone nowadays. But the BB 10 OS is really for work and email and messaging system. I have 3 BB passport (red, black and silver). My favorite is the silver edition. One more thing : good review as always. Keep the god job. Ooh I will buy the keyone as a last chance for android BB one since I hate both the dtek 50 and 60. Never liked them.
I love Blackberry and always will. But I've recently had to purchase the Priv because my Passport fell in the sink and thus replace it. I also NEED the apps because I don't drive anymore and can't, since I've been recently diagnosed with epilepsy. Therefore, I need it for public or private transportation. Although some of the apps are available, they glitch a lot on Blackberry. Even then, I'll continue purchasing Blackberry partnered devices or Blackberry phones. :)
Im using the Blackberry Passport for email etc and got an iPhone SE 64gb for all social stuff and iPod, yeah I got to carry 2 phones around but for now it works, thanks for your videos love them
i have the classic and would like to switch to the passport when I'm in need of a new phone. really like the blackberry, just wish it had a well working instagram. mine always crashes. i have the iPhone 6 for social media purposes, snapchat, instagram etc. BB would be golden if they had those. i don't think i would be able to give up those apps.
I was bit discouraged with my BB Passport, but slowly overcoming by installing social media like whatsapp and Face Book. After watching this video, I regained the confidence as proud owner of BB. Thank you. However still struggle with installing Google Play, Unicode Language Keyboard. Appreciate any solution.

I just can't understand how underrated BBOS is. I haven't seen any serious complaints so far and it's likely to "die" sooner or later. I love Android but it's a pity BlackBerry decided to ship devices running it, BlackBerry has lost its essence.
The Priv is a beautiful and with lots of power phone, but you should only buy it if you need the qwerty keyboard and the edge screen. Some of the reasons why you should choose the DTEK60 over the Priv are 1) The Priv's got an old and less powerful CPU (The same goes for the GPU) 2) It's a huge phone 3) The camera is not very good 4) It doesn't have a fingerprint sensor 5) It has a standard charging port 6) It's a bit overpriced

Yes, those social apps are still working :) BB always says they will still be supporting BB10 but nobody knows for sure. I'd say you can use the device for one more year, may be even one more. But I can't say for sure

After my BB Q5, if I need to go to another phone, it will be BB Mercury, because of the physical keyboard. It's essential for me. Touch keyboards are awful for serious typing.

It's almost 2017 and I'm still using OS.7. Haha! Why? Because It's still working. Aiming for either the Classic or Passport.

Using an old skool Black Blackberry Q10 right here. I really enjoy using it despite the lack of Social Media apps like Instagram, Facebook, etc.

I don't know either. Crackberry also reported that it's coming closer and closer, but nobody really knows when exactly. :/

I loved BlackBerry 10 the hub was great on it. I have DTEK60 now - the hub is not as smooth as bb10 and some of the blackberry apps don't seem to be as complete as the ones on BB10. I found with BB10 I didn't have many third party apps as the phone came with so much. have downloaded quite a few for my android to get similar experience. I do find there is access to great apps on Android that can make you do so much more with your phone. I'm happy with DTEK60 except I can't change the LED notification colours! definitely best blackberry phone though, even better than the passport in my opinion. But which one you choose is all relevant to what you use your phone for, I use mine for a lot more media related things. Took me a while to find an app that could match the BB10 movie maker and I had to pay for the app too! BB10 just comes with so much crammed into the device. I wish things had been different for BB10. They should have stopped wasting time with different versions of the Curve - and just pushed the Q10, Z10 and Z30 out with a big launch and some decent marketing.

i have a Z10.. BlackBerry... and there was a lot about stopping WhatsApp... you where right, it's going on till June at least, but Google + did stop suddenly, the browser is too old they told me , all things of Google i had to install again...now i have a Priv...i..realy hope ,it was a good choice, thanks for all your help!

Blackberry Passport SE is second to none the best phone ever created! If they were smart they would make a dupe of it with android and a 4:3 screen as with android that is the closest you can get to the awesome 1:1 Ratio of our beloved Blackberry. It still would not be like BB10 but maybe with a phone like that and then working on software to use more swipe gestures to get their launcher as close to BB10 as possible, it would work! Once enough people adopt it, they have BB10 in the background. I also say add a virtual run-time for cascades to add blackberry world to their android phones as well as the play store. Cash in on the failures...

I just got a BB Passport a few months ago and i just love it. I particulary don't mind the lack of social apps.
I feel strange all the times i pick up an android phone.
But to be fare, i do miss google maps, it was the only one i couldn't install. TH-cam, Goggle Docs, and play store run fine, but maps don't. I do run Waze, that's a famous mapping app here in Brazil, but is not the same.
I downloaded google maps form apkmirror and it works like a charm! Out of the box :)

once again your spot with BB10 that's its the best operating system and my android crap phone has no idea how to be a great phone yet . when my passport is fixed again I'll use it once again . if it can't be fixed I'll get another silver passport . i feel with an android phone its 10 years behind .

I have used all the latest and expensive phones but always come back to my blackberry phones, passport se is my fav, I am always on social media if I’ve iPhone or android phone in my hand mindlessly waisting hours and hours of my life, now selling all fancy phones and buying BB Porsche design 99883 in 2018!

I really like the form factor of q10 or classic but everyone tells me that battery sucks.How's battery working for you on q10?
For me personally, it lasted about the same. But the q10 has the pro that you can quickly swap the battery :)
I have tried recently Passport Silver, Classic and Q10, and my conclusion is "DO NOT BUY". They are good for phone calls and emails, but that's it. There is nothing else. All the apps are very old, facebook , twitter, dropbox, evernote, etc. they have stopped supporting BB10.
However, if you really need to study and focus, buy a blackberry, because you cannot play with your phone.
Just wondering if the new Blackberry Mobil will be making the "classic" along with the new Mercury?

Try the fast tube app from Blackberry world... has no adverts, it is fast and you can comment and the best part, is that you can download videos to watch later, like on a flight... BB10 is still my base and hoping for many long years too... nice video btw

Nice post, couldn't agree more! Sure, BlackBerry Android is great and does the job, but bottom line is that: BB10 Just as an independed OS, not taking apps in consideration, is the superior OS by far :)
Just some examples in addition to Jan's:
- playing music on TH-cam with the minimazed App
- contacts syncing and integrating by default with social media accounts contacts
- a decent task manager, to monitor your device
- a decent stock file manager and other stock apps like a calculator and weather App
- to just turn off the mobile network radio instead of using airplane mode
- stock (network) file sharing options
- the many different adaptable sound profiles
Sure, for all of the above you can probably download various apps, but for me these are all just small, basic and essential things that any OS should have.

I am a blackberry 10 person. Love their system. I hated the android ones. Please BB keep improving the 10 OS. Who cares about other applications like instagram or snapchat. And most people carry more than one phone nowadays. But the BB 10 OS is really for work and email and messaging system. I have 3 BB passport (red, black and silver). My favorite is the silver edition. One more thing : good review as always. Keep the god job. Ooh I will buy the keyone as a last chance for android BB one since I hate both the dtek 50 and 60. Never liked them.

I love Blackberry and always will. But I've recently had to purchase the Priv because my Passport fell in the sink and thus replace it. I also NEED the apps because I don't drive anymore and can't, since I've been recently diagnosed with epilepsy. Therefore, I need it for public or private transportation. Although some of the apps are available, they glitch a lot on Blackberry. Even then, I'll continue purchasing Blackberry partnered devices or Blackberry phones. :)

i have the classic and would like to switch to the passport when I'm in need of a new phone. really like the blackberry, just wish it had a well working instagram. mine always crashes. i have the iPhone 6 for social media purposes, snapchat, instagram etc. BB would be golden if they had those. i don't think i would be able to give up those apps.
You could use INST10 that's available in BB world. It should work fine :)
I was bit discouraged with my BB Passport, but slowly overcoming by installing social media like whatsapp and Face Book. After watching this video, I regained the confidence as proud owner of BB. Thank you. However still struggle with installing Google Play, Unicode Language Keyboard. Appreciate any solution.

I just can't understand how underrated BBOS is. I haven't seen any serious complaints so far and it's likely to "die" sooner or later. I love Android but it's a pity BlackBerry decided to ship devices running it, BlackBerry has lost its essence.

The Priv is a beautiful and with lots of power phone, but you should only buy it if you need the qwerty keyboard and the edge screen.
Some of the reasons why you should choose the DTEK60 over the Priv are
1) The Priv's got an old and less powerful CPU (The same goes for the GPU)
2) It's a huge phone
3) The camera is not very good
4) It doesn't have a fingerprint sensor
5) It has a standard charging port
6) It's a bit overpriced

Yes, those social apps are still working :) BB always says they will still be supporting BB10 but nobody knows for sure. I'd say you can use the device for one more year, may be even one more. But I can't say for sure

how do you switch back and forth from the Priv to the Passport? just sim and SD card or a phone number for each?
I don't have separate sim cards yet, so i always switch the sd card and sim. I want to do it with to independent sim cards in the future tho :)

After my BB Q5, if I need to go to another phone, it will be BB Mercury, because of the physical keyboard. It's essential for me. Touch keyboards are awful for serious typing.
