Many people remember BB from their heydey with the Bold and Storm and so on but IMO I think their peak was with the Passport sporting BB10. To this day I still think that's the best smartphone with the best OS ever created. I'm so glad I was able to be part of that. It was an amazing experience and I got to try various versions including the black version, the white one, the red one and the silver one. I still have a red one that I watch 90's TV shows and movies on movies on - due to the square screen, 90's media fits that screen much better than today's phones.
Because so many of the social apps work via the web now and do not require apps, I would love it if Blackberry made a comeback as a privacy and security alternative to iPhone and Android devices using a web-only interface. All we really need is a decent camera!
Also prefer BBM which you do not have to give out your phone number which they never accessed, unlike Whatsapp or even Signal they both still require your phone number. so yeah basic apps have web versions. And honestly how many apps do most people really use. I think if most people really looked at the apps they used they would see it is no big deal.
Hi, I use to see your videos regularly. And today this new video popped and I saw it. Initially I did not recognise you but when you showed the clip of you in Introduction I recognised you. Welcome back.
Actually discovered your channel a few weeks ago. I like your content so it's good to see that you're restarting the channel. Looking forward to your next video.
I have a Blackberry Classic and am still using it. Some of the Apps don't work anymore but texting and phone calls etc. still work fine. I love the keyboard and hope that one day that Blackberry will bring back a new phone!!
Welcome back! In BB entertainment news, there is a movie out soon about the rise and fall of BB. Excited to see that! I live not far from from BB headquarters, so it was such a normal occurrence seeing everyone walking around with one in their hand. I'm going to have to bust out some of my old BB's and review them! Ah, memories...
I STILL LOVE BALCKBERRY DEVICES,THEIR DEVICES ARE BRILLIANT DESIGN,PREMIUM.CLASSIC AND IT'S OS JUST AWESOME..I wish in future, their will be blackberry come back
Still using my classic! And my torch. Even purchased a screen and keyboard for my classic to replace them. As long as I can use the classic for mail and phones, I will keep it!
It is a pity that the best-ever Messaging device (hardware+software BB10) died at the beginning of the Messaging era. Today, 50% plus of our daily mobile activity is messaging either WhatsApp or any other app. I think some of the BB devices were great innovative engineering that could stand by 2023 standards easily, but the RIM management made so many mistakes that resulted at the end of BB. I know many people that stop working from their mobile devices and don't care anymore which device they have only because it is impossible to work (type) on a glass. It was so convenient to type, and many people remember it. Today, on either Android or iOS, we only consume data we don't work on it.
Let me just say that RIM should NOT have ditched the BB OS for the Android OS. They should have continued and evolved their BB OS into the mainstream of phones today.
Agree. Sadly money was the deciding factor. I looked into Android as an OS when the PRIV came out but couldn’t make it work for me. It was too cluttered - not smooth like BB10. So I went to iOS and I’m happy with the OS and its gestures.
Ditching BBOS for Android was the only option to attract new customers. Switching to Android was just a slower death, they would have died earlier if they had sticked with BBOS.
@@r0tb3rt That's true because RIM stopped evolving the OS when they saw the rapid progress of the Android OS. I really loved the BB 10 OS on my Q10 phone. It was amazing. Besides the money factor and the rapid progress of Android, the BB OS was unique and brilliant in it's time. Perhaps RIM could have hired new mobile devs to further modernize the OS. This got me wondering if a BB OS10 Dev Kit is available for download.
You need to understand that nowadays, operating systems rely mainly on 3rd party apps for their success. This is currently the success model for any operating system to dominate the mobile space. Take Windows Phone OS for example, which when was released, was a marvel. However, MS couldn't continue to develop the OS due to failure of major 3rd party app makers to develop their apps on Windows Phone. Same can be said about BBOS. Unless you have a clear roadmap for 3rd party apps and strong partnership with developers, you won't succeed.
Actually, I still use a BB Classic on a daily basis as an organiser when working from home. While most apps do no longer work, Hub email, Calengoo, and Evernote are still running. As long I'm not on the road, this is still sufficient.
Loved the Key2 only hated the Cam. Now I also switched to iPhone and think about using my classic as a weekend phone to do a bit of social media detox.
Thanks Jan about this video. First of all thank you for actually making me fall in love not only with you but with the world of Blackberries . I actually years ago when "we met" through your videos I ended up purchasing my blackberry classic but short after they discontinued WhatsApp and then now as you mentioned the servers. So thank you big big thank you it was very good years . im happy to see you , looking good and still loving technology as much as I do ! keep it up #blackberryloveforever
I was using my K2 until two weeks ago until the physical keyboard stopped working. Some apps in the last few months were not working anymore. I miss using it. I had the same issues with it shutting crashing. I was able to mirror all my blackberry stuff on my Ulefone 12 5g and my TCL 20.
I think it's a great idea to relive the channel again but I think most of us want to see not only just another Android BlackBerry branded device, but instead the original BB10 OS running nowadays, how it performs, what still works, what not... 😉 👍
I still can't believe that Blackberry is gone in the Smartphone Industry. I've bought a Blackberry Classic, I feel the OS, Blackberry OS 10 is very good and I hardly find any lag. Everything went smoothly, if the Blackberry is still there. I'm sure the product and OS can compete with APPLE iOS
It was too little too late. The law of duopoly says that as markets mature it becomes a two horse race. There isn't room for a third wheel. Even Microsoft had to give up.
I still have my BB Passport SE with me. It's still working though. I just feel kinda sad about what happened to the company every time I look and hold it in my hand. I hope they will release something new in the near future.
Hello, It's a good news that this youtube channel has not died out. I also have several blackberries: Bold 9780, Classic, Passport, and I'm hesitating for a Blackberry Key2 which, in my opinion, could still work for several years even if the updates stopped! I am watching this with a Key1 right now 😅 Did you hear about the external BlackBerry Keyboard (BB Q20 Keyboard with trackpad) from tindie? I am curious how this works for example for writing longer texts. I have an iPhone on the side and the virtual keyboard still sucks 🤷♀️
Never heard about it, really have to check it out! :) I got used to the virtual keyboard tbh, but it really feels amazing typing on a physical one again

Just to correct you real quick, the Key2 was not the last phone BlackBerry made, that title belongs to the Priv as later phones were made by TCL but under the BlackBerry license
They also made the Key2 LE, I have the Key2 LE red addition and still use it today with my Q10 as a backup. The Q10 is still running Facebook lite and messenger lite fine as well as WhatsApp, I have a new Samsung fold 4 but just hate the feel in the hand so it just sits in the cupboard 🙂 But I found the key1 Black addition was the one I liked the most in the key Family...

You should be fine using the Key2 for everyday use, I was using the Priv until last February when I got the KeyOne Black Edition, the only issue I have run into is that blackberry hub is no longer supported by Gmail so I can't add a new gmail account to it, I had to change my password for one of the accounts because I couldn't remember it and now I can't re-integrate that gmail account again. I really wish there could be a new blackberry because I do enjoy the physical keyboard even though I'm getting more used to the touchscreens especially the iPhone 12 Pro, it's width has resolved some of my typing issues.
It's so sad. BB prices are getting higher and higher. So 1 month ago I decided to change my Key2 for a Noting Phone. I alway have used BB phones, for me were so exclusive and I really loved that. People used to said "Does BB manufactures the phones just for you?". Hehe. So funny. Nothing Phone give me something like BB gave me time ago. Perhaps because most people have an Iphone. So that isn't exclusive like BB. Thanks for be back! ;)
I'm still using BlackBerry Key2 till now and I hope is manufactured Phones that support a physical keyboard are being remanufactured from BlackBerry cause I don't know how to use a phone that supports a full screen, I still love the keyboard shortcuts and others , I hope that they will remake the design of the BlackBerry Passport and PRIV again, but with high specifications suitable for 2023
Welcome back, Jan! Since I don't know where/who else to ask this question to...here goes: I am still using the Blackberry Key2. I had one for a few years when one side of the back of the phone started to pull away and I worried the battery might be leaking or something, so I replaced it with the (RED) version of the Key2 in September. After just 7 months, the same thing is starting to happen. Any idea what to do about this? Does the battery just need to be replaced or is it just a faulty component? Thanks in advance if you're able to assist!! I really don't want to give up my phone and spent quite a bit on this latest replacement so if there's an easy fix I'm curious! 😊

How crazy that BB10 was mocked and now the gestures are used by all Operating Systems now.
The BB10 OS was ahead of its time
It was certainly more secure as an operating system than android.
Americans often don't like or support Canadian products and companies which is unfortunate.
Right?! Gestures were way ahead of their time!
Yes everything copied

Your are the real OG fan. I watched your videos way back when 👌🏾
Appreciate it! 😍 I'm finally back making videos
I still have the Q5. Found it a week ago in one of my old backpacks. Surprised at how good it still feels and that the battery still holds up.
I would love to watch a video of the system running now. :)

I heard a rumor that BB's were the only phones that were issued to the secret service. I guess this was due to their security features.
At one time yes that's true. Govt's and corporations used BlackBerry for their security but eventually the competition caught up.
Will you ever have an updated video on the Beovision 11?
