Sweet collection, you need to fix up your PRIV and KEYone.
They are the only BB phones i have owned and had to fix. Just fixed up a KEYone that had its display fall out just like yours.

Excellent video Ole. Blackberry was extremely popular here in South Africa during the Blackberry 8520 (GPRS model) and the 9300 (3G model) days. The reason for that was their BIS service. for R60 (Rands - South African Currency), you could surf the net, download media and stay connected on every social media platform per month. This helped so many people stay connected for cheap. During those days I owned the Blackberry 8520 then upgraded to the 9300. The upper class models during that time was the 9700 Bold and 9900 Bold. They were crazy expensive. The BIS service was then changed into various packages/options at the time when BB OS10 arrived. Soon after that, the number of Blackberry users dropped due to the Rise of Android from as early as 2.3 Gingerbread and iOS, think it was version 4.0.

Awesome video. I love Blackberrys. I feel they are some of the best phones on the market to date. But it is very nice to have a good TH-cam channel to go watch for some good BlackBerry info. Thank you an keep up the great work.

Enjoyed the video. I unfortunately have moved on from BlackBerry because I needed a phone with a better quality camera but I still miss my old phones. I do have the Curve, Q5, Q10, and Leap sitting around in my drawer just in case my current phone dies. I was very close in getting the DTEK 50 but chose Sony instead. My favourite was the Leap and Q10.

Hey Jan. I bought my first BB in 2015. It was the Passport. I loved it, and still do. However, due to work I needed a phone that can access apps on Google Play. So, I bought a KeyOne. This is based on an earlier review that you did on the KeyOne. It is a truly beautiful phone. Thank you for recommending it.

    I love your channel bro.
I bought the blackberry q10 in 2014, and it's been my daily driver till today. Still an amazing phone if you're not big on mobile gaming or watching videos.
Sadly I plan to replace it next month with a pixel 2, but only because I need a better camera for my business.
I think the BB10 OS is the best functional OS till date

Jan, great collection. Currently I have the key2LE and really think blackberry has come a long way from the priv. My first blackberry was a data device only. It looked like a pager and did email calendar and no sms. For over 15 years I was a bb curve user because I liked a bb phone that was light as possible. That is why I have chosen the LE over the standard key2.

The priv is not too great but I need the apps sometimes :) keep up with those videos :)

i had a Q10 and a Z30. the Q10 i used the longest, typing was a joy, the Z30 was better for consuming content and although didn't have the tactile feel of a physical keyboard, the BB virtual keyboard i loved.

  • @moschmuda
    @moschmuda 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

i must say i really really loved my q10 and if a device existed like it but running android i'd buy it immediately. the small screen never bothered me because i am all about productivity when it comes to my mobiledevice. the speaker was just brilliant on the q10 the batteries that were delivered in an rechargeable cartridges were genious... i had spare batteries everywhere, and when my battery was dead i just swapped it and got back from 0 to 100 in a snap. there was so much good on the q10 I really miss but unfortunately most people have different priorities than I have so it would propably not pay off to launch such a device... bbos10 was also a really thoughtfully designed os - if it had been 100% compatible with android apps i would still run it without a doubt. today i have a black keyone which is also a worldclass device in my opinion but i liked the formfactor of the q10 a hundred times more. it was so good to use with just one hand and also small things like using the volume rockers with a long press to skip track were just lovely... so much good about the old ones - super sad that they can not be brought back. but still I am very happy to see that bb did not completely vanish and I am sure that they will be a success with their new devices coming out in 2018. And please never give up the physical keyboard - i really hate typing on glass. i would do speed typing competitions to proof that a physical keyboard can not be beaten in terms of speed and accuracy not even to mention that being able to type blindly is also a real game changer when texting while being in public places. As long as you build devices with physical keyboards there are a little bit less smombies on the go than otherwise.

Another cool video! I still use a BB Passport SE, it's starting to lose a lot of Android apps, but is still a great workhorse and I love the huge square screen! I'm looking for a good condition Keyone as I also need to use a lot of apps that are unfortunately disappearing from BB10. Passport is hands down the best BB phone ever made!
An android version of it would be amazing!

Great video Ole, was nice to see you reminiscing over your collection. I got into blackberry when my friend got his 3310 and I got the same model. I stuck with Blackberry and moved onto the 9720, Q10 (still my favourite) and am now on the Priv. Thinking about upgrading to the KeyOne black edition, would you go for that or hold on for the Athena?

Hey Jan Ole, also als erstes muss ich mal sagen ich schaue deine Videos echt gerne, also dafür schonmal ein allgemeines Luke von mir! Mach weiter so.

that's a nice collection :) Here i still have a Cure 8520 as a spare phone, a Bold 9900 which sadly won't start anymore, a reliable Z10 for media consumption, music player, clock, etc. And my favorite, the Passport as my secondary phone, for productivity (emails, documents, etc..). It's difficult to switch to a new TCL Blackberry for now. I'm still waiting for a real flagship, and not the KeyTwo compromise (and its absurd price...).

My Storm, Curve 8900 9300, Bold 9700 9780, Q10, Passport. All in memories. Im the first of my peers to rock a blackberry (The Curve) and I was amazing. I still remember all the customization you cna get. Changing the casing and stuff. My last phone was the Passport and it was on of the best BB I've used. Good times in the CB Community. Good time of getting firmwares and hacking (if it was the word?).
Now I got the iPhone X and only reason I gave the 8 Plus to my wife and got the X myself is the gesture control which was similar like the BBOS. I didnt got the Keyone or the Priv is because of the price. But now with my new job, i'm waiting for the KeyOne 2/ KeyTwo instead which will be my MUST BUY. Very disappointed with the Motion, if it got the 626 or 660 or the 630 i'll get it. But the spirit of BB is the PKB not all screen like most phone nowaday.
Thank you Jan for bringing back the memories.

I got in to BlackBerry by accident sort of... I owned "dumb phones" all my life (i.e. the LG expression or a ZTE z431 or something like that). Finally my last dumb phone broke and I decided I needed to upgrade to something that was higher end. So I did some research and decided to buy a Q10. I couldn't find any for a reasonable price at that time anywhere though! So I had to go on ebay (terrible, I know. Don't recommend it) and ordered a new Q10 for about $50. Finally the package arrived and I was so excited! I cut it open and saw the colorful Q10 box and everything. I then quickly opened the box and low and behold what did I see? A phone that did not fit into the box very well. I took out the phone, "Huh, I thought. This doesn't look like how it did in the pictures... it has silver on the sides and on the frets and and even a trackpad." Turns out, (after a little more research) whoever was in charge of packaging at that store messed up and put a nice new BlackBerry Classic in a Q10 box! (Hey, I'm not complaining. I got way more of my money's worth from their mistake) I absolutely loved that phone. So beautifully constructed, absolutely great OS, I the keyboard was amazing, but I think what the best part for me was that notification light (I know, weird right?). It was so sharp and clear and so many different colors! Honestly, if it wasn't for that little light I probably wouldn't have sticker with Blackberry. (Also fun fact, that phone helped me get a date. I was going out with a girl at the time and her father, a diehard fan of BlackBerry owns a Passport SE himself, learned I owned a Classic and instantly approved. Even gave me a case for the phone and everything.) After that incident I researched BlackBerry phones and was just loving all of them. I wanted to get a Passport next but stumbled across a video (it was yours actually Mr. Ole) from the new recently released KEYone. Man I fell in love with that phone. I saved up for it and bought a Blackberry KEYone Black Edition and it is incredible. Now I, at 18 years old, am a Blackberry enthusiast. I probably won't be able to buy any other phone now. My girlfriend's father loves me for it. I even bought her a silver KEYone (previously iPhone 5) for her birthday because she was marveling at mine and she is a huge fan of the phone! She messages a lot on her phone so it really suits her needs. Also we have matching phones and she thinks it's cute ;P anyway that's my BlackBerry story. Really love BlackBerry, hope they stay alive, and I'm super excited for the Key2 which I'm planning on buying this summer! Or maybe that Blackberry Ghost that some people are talking about... Thanks for the videos and for getting me into BlackBerry!
    (Wrote this on my KEYone)

Blackberry curve was my 1st BB, had 2 of them. Expl0it3d the crap out of BIS back in the day, lol. Got a Bold 9810 for that sweet slide up screen, and compact form factor. I mean, it was just such a cool phone back then, imo. Current daily is a Priv, until my KeyOne Black edition arrives next week. PS, loved my HTC TyTN 2 before my move to BB's & Samsung's.

The only BB phone I had was a Q10. I realy loved the build but I hated it because it takes minutes to start up when I power it on. I like switching my phone off at night before I sleep, and the 1st thing I do in the morning after waking up is to power my phone on.

My first was the BlackBerry Curve 8330, and that Phone` was crap.. while it was a smartphone it was laggy slow and sluggish. Meantime, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 was excellent. Then I got the Torch, The Bold 9900, Playbook, The Z10, Q10, Classic, Z30, Passport SE, and the Priv..
My faves have been the Bold, Z10, and Z30.

Hey Ole, my silver keyone screen popped out also but they kept it and sent me a new one. How did u manage to keep your old broken one and get a new one from them?

Hi. I'm subscribed to your channel and love your reviews. Sadly I have sold mine BB Classic and Passport Silver edition. I would like to buy them again. Would you sell it to me or if you know someone that would sell?

Interesting you’ve never bought a Z30. Would have been a great addition. Next to the passport it was the best bb10 device.

Before i got to blackberry, i had multiple other phones. Some older Nokia and some Sony devices (with qwerty keyboard).
    And a Samsung S4 i think...
The q10 was my first try, because frankly i had enough of the bad experiences. Samsung kept crashing and overheating, Sonys pkb devices back then where nice phones, but very very slow and a lot less RAM and CPU power.
I read all sorts of reviews about the Q10 and just fell in love with that little writing machine :). Never had any problems with it. I didn't care much for cameras, if the picture OK, then it did it's job. If i want extraordinarily good pictures, then I'll take a real god damn camera.
Well... Anyway, i was hooked... Got me the passport as well (in white) and a Q5 just for fun. Now the Keyone which is just awesome.
I'm getting a used Q10 again for a secondary phone. I killed the keyboard somehow...
I should make a video about all the phones I've ever owned :)

Hi I'm new to your channel and saw that you own a lot of BlackBerry. I was wondering if you know how to get a 10 year old BlackBerry to restart. It's not turning on when I press on "on" button. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
