@@julesmatthews2178 they will definitely be going on when I do the hubs and I will probably strip the whole rear off and get the rear subframe powder coated and trailing arms
Nice video. Just a tip though for others, that brake disc screw just needs to be hand tight, it’s only a factory assembly screw and has no other purpose. Also clean up the slider pins and grease as they often cause seized brakes.
Good video, Chris. Unscrewing the brake reservoir cap, would have helped with pushing the caliper back. Additionally, the back of the pads, doesn't need anti seize applied. That double-sided tape, takes its place nowadays. By all means, apply some, where the pads and caliper sit.
Cheers mate definitely remove the reservoir cap i did mention that in the description 👍 I've always greased the back of the pads and the slots in the carrier its a habit and good practice no one wants squeaky brakes 🤣😂
Nice job. Surpised when I did first the front brakes and I took of the disk shield to paint it. Easy. But … When I attempted to do the same thing on the rear, I mean cleaning and painting the shield … 😮 What a bad design ! Could not believe it. Impossible to take out cos the ABS ring is to close to the screws. I plan to do this job when I’ll replace the bearing 😕 Anyway, I have completly rebuild the rear calipers with a replacement kit.
I know I wanted to but you need to take the hub off to get the bolts out and I will be doing that hopefully later in the year when I get everything powder coated
Please help me Chris. I followed your videos for front and back and now I have no brakes! I cant see what I could've done wrong. My handbrake is now coming up really high and I just cant brake at all. I saw another thread which said to run the engine and pump the brakes but nothing happened
Oh mate that don't sound good did you open the brake reservoir to relive pressure so no damage to the master cylinder? Also I don't understand why the handbrake would be higher send me some pics of what has happened on Instagram or to my email you may have got air in the system some how
You're a life saver brother.
👊🏻
I had new hubs wheel bearings an new brake dust shields fitted to mine just before Xmas last year andy knows all about it 🤣👏
that's good mate 👍I'm gutted i have to take the hubs off to replace the dust shield it such a bad design
@@CarChris82 2 very tiny think they were 6mm heads they had to be made smaller using a dremel to remove them 😳 but yeah ideally you need them on 👍

Yes in great detail! If you need your brakes sorted quickly, DONT speak to Jules' local mechanic! lol
@@andycharger🤣 7 week she had car only plus side of that = less mileage on the clock 😂🤣
Another very helpful video mate. Thanks !! this one is particularly well filmed 👍👍
Glad the vids are helpful 👍🏻

@@CarChris82 Ah, right. Thanks.

Good video mate. I just done this but reused the discs I have a spongy air sound when I press the pedal now. Pedal is stiff when the cars off

Nicely done sir

Cool 😁👍
Very nice

Great vid but feel you should have done shield at same time

Great stuff mate 👍 but where is the mk 2 projects gone
Cheers mate more things are coming on the mk2 im thinking of fmic exhaust and a bigger turbo just need to get this one presentable first
Recently I ordered new rear calipers, and the ones they sent me were too small, so I guess they're for a solid rotor
Sounds like it
Nice video. I’ve always pushed the piston back in with c-clamps. What does the turning do?
The rears dont push back you have to wind them mate fronts you push back 👍
@@CarChris82 good to know, thanks. Now that I think of it, I’ve never done rears on a VAG.
Yeah your need that tool and if they don't turn then I'm afraid they are seized
Great vid, do you know a reputable supplier of genuine 8N Audi TT mk1 parts. Looking to have a bit of fun renovating my 2004 1.8 😊 cheers
There is a gut who is on ebay who does genuine second hand parts called Mr tt auto parts which I have been to see him before
