my brother was a big zelda fan, he got this for xmas of 92.....late january 93 he passed from a enlarged heart, the night before he passed he was up all night trying to beat gannon and couldnt do it........after the funeral i came home carried the game on for my brother and beat gannon ....when the credits rolled it hit me hard and i just broke down and cried . it was like my brother was saying by to me . thank you for uploading this
Hi Michael. It's been a while since I last commented here, but I was reminded of your story recently. Back when I was in high school, under the username "LegoWaffles11" I said I was writing a Link to the Past concert band arrangement, and I said that I wanted to dedicate it to the memory of your brother. I don't believe I ever heard back from you, but that's okay. All these years later, I am now a professional composer, and I'm working on a series of Zelda covers (of much higher quality than what I was doing in high school). If you end up reading this, I would still like your brother's name so that I may dedicate the final track of the album to him; this track. I hope that you are doing well, and I hope to hear back from you.
Man that hit hard... It makes me remember that my sister (who was an avid fan of Super Mario to the point where she beat pretty much every game... every game but one: Super Mario 64... I was hoping that eventually she would beat the final Bowser Stage, sadly she passed away 5 years ago without ever going back to the game... I still have her save file... 😢
My cousin died of an enlarged heart when she had a sleepover and forgot her meds, when we were both 18 - I'm now 34. RIP Sarah, gone too soon. This tune gives me all the feels now
My first Zelda game, got it in 7th grade and didn't beat until the summer before 11th grade. I worked so hard to beat this game. My data even got erased more than once. I had to start from the beginning 2 or 3 times, and one of those times, I had made it all the way to Ganon's tower. When I beat this game, I was home alone, and there was a thunderstorm brewing outside- I felt so proud and this music nearly moved me to tears. Still the most nostalgic music to me and still gives me that sense of sadness, achievement, relief, and happiness all at once.
Took you 4 years to beat it huh? It took me 12. I first got the game when I was eight and I didn't finally complete it until I was 20. The reasons for taking that long ranged from not having a TV to play it on for several years to coming back to it after some time and having to start all over because I couldn't remember where I was or how I got there. When I finally did beat the game and the credits rolled I sat back, breathed a huge sigh of relief, and said, "It was all worth it." I don't think I'll ever say those same words again for any other game as long as I live.
Very powerful Sophie.. I almost teared up reading your story. We all our connected together by this game. It's amazing how a group of people who make a story like this can impact millions of people throughout the world. And it impacted all of us growing up.
"Had to start from the beginning 2 or 3 times" I start from the beginning again every year. A remixed ROM, the original, its all good! Seriously though, great story.
Same exact feeling. Best this game without a walk through and I struggled, got stuck so many times but I kept pushing. When the main theme hits the tears just come out. One of my most triumphant moments
Extremely underrated theme. Not an epic, triumphant theme with lots of fanfare its more of a humble and sombre theme that has a real finality to it. Just heart-warming you know? Makes me tear up a little.
It's the buildup to the more familiar tune that makes it wonderful. That rising up to what you know is coming and when it arrives it's soft, muted. It isn't heroic, it's matter-of-factly like the rest of the piece and builds from there.
@@PeterTheGr3at I have noticed that almost everyone who plays the track "Aria Di Mezzo Caratte" from Final Fantasy 6 constantly leave out the oboe part. I have no idea why they do that, because it is a significant part of that track, and it sounds great.
In my opinion, the ending theme in oracles are really similar to this in term of feeling, they are my favorite. I feel so dam nostalgic when i hear them , i almost feel like crying everytime, so many good memories, spent so much time playing these games when i was a kid, it remind me of the good old day.
Hylian Hobbit it is for sure. I dont know how many Times ive been disappointed when looking at orchestras playing zelda medleys and always forgets this piece. Imagine this very piece conducted by John Williams and his orchestra..i get a tear in My eye just Thinking about it.
This music is so peaceful yet so depressing, it's a beautiful way to end a beautiful game. This music makes me realize how gifted the people who worked on this game are. I want this to be played at my funeral, or at least the 1st part of the song.
Yeah it always had a depressing feel at the beginning but then kind of gets triumphant. Played this game when it first came out in the 90s when I was a kid I remember loving Zelda but at the same time the music could really trigger a wide range of emotions
This song just feels like a musical arrangement of the emotions that would go through Link's head after witnessing his wishes coming true and going back home to meet his Uncle again after all this adventure and how Link recovers from the emotional charge he had to take in to the Hero we know. 00:00 - 00:48 Emotional 00:48 - 01:24 Sad: 01:24 - 01:38 Emotional again 01:38 - 01:52 Relieving 01:52 - 02:22 Empowerment 02:22 - 02:48 Melancholic Empowerment 02:48 - 03:52 Empowerment fully embraced
Amazing. I was 12/13 when I went on the adventure with Link. It's such a beautiful story, and hits every single button of that "Rising to Greatness" feeling. Im 29 now, and anytime I hear this, those exact memories and feelings come back as if it were yesterday. I always tear up with joy, even cry, and have that overwhelming urge to jump back in there, take the adventure with Link, and have one more go-at-it with Gannon. Sounds Geeky but it's true. Long Live The Legend of Zelda
There’s games we love to play and then there’s games that have meaning in our lives. I can’t tell ya how much this game means to me. This music is just incredible
The feeling you had when you finally finished this game for the first time. It truly felt like having accomplished a great feat. Thinking back now, as old as I‘m now - maybe it truly was great.
A tear to my eye! It was a Friday almost 31 years ago arriving back from school, my save file was right before Ganon's Fight, Beat him, saw the ending and there, the Best end crédits I have experiencied in my whole life as a Gamer! Im 38 years now.
It's simply impossible for me to watch/listen to this without bawling my eyes out. Games these days rarely bring out as much emotion in you as they did before. Thank God I grew up playing this ...

This is true. Conposers like Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda and Motoi Sakuraba tend to get tend to get tons of credit (and they should) but Koji Kondo is, I dare say, their enabler. He composed the most famous staple in videogame history, in a time when the necessity of music in videogames was questioned, and even whether or not the early consoles could produce something that could be called music at all. He is one of the greats.
When I heard this the first time, I'd never played it. And, even now, I haven't finished the game. But, for some reason, this song still makes me cry. It's giving me nostalgia that I never had. It's so strange...like I've heard the music before. And it makes me cry listening to this beautiful piece. Koji Kondo isn't just a composer. He's a painter of music.
Exactly! This piece seems so final and sorrowful, yet at the same time reminding us in the final third of the song that the hero will still embark on journeys to come. It, along with the closing theme to Super Metroid, are my two favorite credits themes.
This song hits me right in the feels. I remember the very first time I heard this song. I was sitting right next to my older brother after we worked together to beat the game by tag teaming our way through it, trading off bosses and puzzles, and working together to solve all the hidden items you could get. We spent months working on this game, slowly making our way through, and at the very end my brother was the one who beat the final boss and finished the game. We were both so jazzed to finally beat it. I remember shouting out in joy and slapping him a high-five as the ending credits rolled. He beat the last boss, but "we" beat the game. Growing up this was the only game i ever played, (Seriously, I had no others,) and i'm glad i still got to play it a decade after its release. Sure, i never beat it until i was 12, but at 5, and to this day, the best game i ever played. Best Credits theme ever.
Listening to this music just makes me start sheding tears of joy...ahh... sweet memories of my childhood brought back by the wonderful music of a wonderful game. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce!
RIP Robin Williams. I post this here because for those who don't know Robin Williams was a fan of the Zelda games and he named his daughter after the princess herself, Zelda.
I'm not afraid to mention this, this music makes me teary eyed, all that hard work playing this, it really made me feel like I made a difference even if it's virtual.
Makes me cry a little to know that my childhood is slowly slipping away from me. I miss the good times of sitting in front of the tv and playing these games.
Hello miss Sophie! First of all thank you for posting this wonferful video and sharing your experiences while playing this master piece of the series (it's actually my favourite to date) I'm a big fan of the Legend of Zelda saga as well and I have lots of memories playing them. Geniouses like Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo have brought us so many wonderful experiences, with the creative and unique vision of great leaders like our dear gone Satoru Iwata have madeand growth us fans of Nintendo for life, they will live forever in our hearts.
I just beat this game for the first time in about seven years. Bloody brutal difficulty, but so worth playing through just to hear this song... it's so soothing, and yet has the epicness of a Zelda game... *sigh*, I need this on my MP3, sooo badly.. really, this is my new favorite credits theme in a game ever.
Your story hit me like a ton of bricks. I hope your brother can rest in peace along with this amazing game. It sounds like you and your brother were very close back then.
I recently replayed LTTP and finished the game just two days ago. This song is just amazing. The first two minutes are just fantastic, it really makes you reflect on the game you just played. Then the Zelda theme kicks in and sails you home.
When I was 13 or 14 I hooked my SNES to an old tape deck and this song was the first one I recorded. That and some parts of FF6 made up one side of my driving mix tape in my first car several years later. Still love the song now after more than 20 years. I don't know what ever happened to that tape though, not that I'd have anything to play it on.
Arguably the greatest game ever made. Certainly a top 10 game on a lot of people's list. The ending was great, better than a lot of endings on today's games. Simple, but effective.
Listening to this gives me tears :') it's been a long time since I've played this masterpiece! I need to make time to play it again and relive memories!
Thanks for posting, this brings back the memories of that utter joy and imagination I felt as a child. I used to get so excited just thinking about that game, to imagine what it was like to be Link adventuring through the land. A link to the past is perfect.
My sister downloaded A Link to the past for GBA to run it on an emulator in 2013, she only rescue Zelda but I keep playing, I was like 10 years old and this game was so difficult for me. I remember one night of October of 2017, I had an important test next day but I wasn't studying for it, I was playing Zelda and that night finally beat this game, it took like 5 or 4 years but I did it and I was so happy, now I played this game again in Nintendo switch online and I couldn't believe how I remember everything, where to get the items, where to go, what to do in the dungeons and how to kill the bosses, for the first time it took me to beat this game 4 years, but this time it took less then a week
This theme...this right here is pretty much the symbolization of why I love the Zelda series. To this day, chills and manly tears flow through my body to remember this lovely game, followed by such wonderful music.
Does anybody else notice that the Legend of Zelda theme kicks in right as the credits say: "Sound Composer: Koji Kondo." It's so perfect! Koji Kondo is a master.
The song in the first two minutes has such a beautiful chord progression and melodic journey, it could literally be played for piano or full orchestra. Absolutely timeless. Koji Kondo is at the height of his powers here. 0:56 - He produces here one of the most beautiful 8-chord progressions I've ever heard. 1:50 - It could repeat here and go back to the beginning, but Kondo effortlessly slides into the main Zelda theme. Koji you sweet, magnificent man.
Gosh I never got to play this game (nor have I ever heard these credits before) I've played all other Zelda games but this one. WHAT KIND OF HARDCORE FAN AM I?! And yet, these credits just made me cry. I've never heard them before. I'm bawling my eyes out. Especially the beginning. Those legendary names rolling through the screen. Just. wow. I NEED THIS GAME the theme @0:43 seems so familiar to me.. does that tune EVER play in any other Zelda game?! It just filled me with nostalgia even though I've NEVER played this specific game before
I played this in 2017, got to final dungeon and irl kicked in so never finished and just ended up watching a playthrough of it. I still love this theme and the one from the cutscene before it. I think it's almost Chrono Trigger level. And that's saying everything.
Man this song brings tears....its like it remembers me were i came from...sinds i was a little kid this game reminded me who i really am...always believing in to the magical things...this song this game helped me to believe in my own memories that arent from this life but from a place/world that i had left to come to this place called earth.....(no im not crazy :) just a believer....)
I remember that upbeat tune in the ingame cinematic that came before this. It was such a treat seeing how you affected everyone and saved the land. Then came this. The real treat. I remember just leaning back with my hands behind my head, the still sweatty controller resting in my lap. That mountainous paralax layered skyline keeps rolling by as I let my mind wander. Such a feeling of contentment and completion. You don’t get that in games today. … I believe it’s time to fire up the SNES Classic Mini for another play-though. 🙂
Yeah, it's not enough that I love this song already, it needs to have an amazing heart-breaking story to go along with it. Haha! But seriously, thanks for sharing it. You reminded me how much I love my own brother. And I bet your brother loves you very much and is very proud of you still. :)
The buildup to that very first iconic measure is just so good. Just that single note, then 3 beats of silence. Anyone who grew up with Zelda, the original NES game, just knows it by heart. It feels like the whole piece works up to that moment. Then it calls out to THE Zelda overworld theme. The only one that should ever play. And it's amazing.
This is one of the best scores ever made for an VideoGame. Im 26 now, but i still remember this song very well, it never got out of my head. Koji Kondo FTW.
It's Not Hard to make a great Story or RPG game this ending is merely 1 of the many example that shows how much thought, effort, and care that was put into the game. when you hear music like this you know you've accomplished something great and that you played an amazing game.
I'm a "younger" zelda player, so I didn't grow up with a SNES; I grew up with a Gameboy Adv. But ever since I started playing Zelda (2 years ago), it's become a huge part of my life. It's incredible. And I always treasure the moment I beat a game, because I can listen to the credits. I haven't played ALttP, so I feel guilty... but it's far to beautiful to stop listening! :,)
I remember hearing this as a kid. I didn't know any other gamers, but it's cool to see so many are affected by it. These classic Nintendo games are fucking art
The amount of effort this took as a young gamer to complete. And now that I'm older, it can be completed 100% in about 3 hours. This game TRULY carries weight for my youth and experiences with my family. The ending theme always brings me close to tears. Thank you creators as well as Zelda fans for this ongoing experience.
I remembered I finished this game in a weekend when I was 12...25 years ago.. Because my parents would not let me play during the week and I borrowed it from a friend I had no choice but to finish it in 2 days. What a sense of accomplissement I felt when I heard that song and especially when the number of times I died were showing up. I had died maybe 60 or 160 times?? I don't really remember but it was a huge number. Props to all the people who worked on this game. 心のそこから感謝しています。
I just got a lump in my throat reading that...so sorry to hear the loss of your brother. This does show how therapeutic media can be. This is the real life Reign Over Me!
LttP is an outstanding game. It literally IS Zelda in its purest form, every game that has been out after this one is based on this one: the Master Sword theme, Zelda's Lullaby, Dead Man Volley, Kakariko Village, spin attack, mostly anything is from this very game (and obviously the previous ones too). As you said, this one set the standard, and I support your opinion.
when I was a kid I'd just play the ending over and over to listen to this music. looks like a lot of other people did too. Wonderful memories all thanks to a phenomenal game
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. I think it was very touching of you to finish what your brother started. And I know that he's looking down on you from above saying "thank you." Be strong, my friend!
I love this game. These credits will always be ingrained in my brain. Even though it doesnt seem like a lot is going on, this ending was so satisfying my first time playing it as a kid.
my brother was a big zelda fan, he got this for xmas of 92.....late january 93 he passed from a enlarged heart, the night before he passed he was up all night trying to beat gannon and couldnt do it........after the funeral i came home carried the game on for my brother and beat gannon ....when the credits rolled it hit me hard and i just broke down and cried . it was like my brother was saying by to me .

Listening to this music just makes me start sheding tears of joy...ahh... sweet memories of my childhood brought back by the wonderful music of a wonderful game. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce!
RIP Robin Williams. I post this here because for those who don't know Robin Williams was a fan of the Zelda games and he named his daughter after the princess herself, Zelda.
yes. now a moment of silence...
CyberIce2000 and a moment of silence for Satoru Iwata as well :(
BioPhoenix Yes ......................
@@BioPhoenixReviews And a moment of silence for Hiroshi Yamauchi as well.
Oh god... This is 9 years old comment. So much has happened since. Mr. Iwata's passing, Charles Martinet retiring and what else...
Star Fox, ALttP and SMW had my favorite SNES credits themes
Actually cried listening to this for the first time in years.
RIP Satoru Iwata
9 years... And it still feels so recent.
I went and saw the Seattle Symphony play Zelda music last night and I was so happy when they played this piece.
Still one of the GREATEST Nintendo games of all time.
deff better then BOTW AND TOTK.
😁
Leave Nintendo, generally one of the GREATEST of all time 🫡
THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY.😢
Its BEAUTIFUL.
RIP Mr.Iwata
He was a man who understood us.
I want this song to be played at my funeral!
k m8!
same
Absolutly agree
Sure. Because, why not.
So amazing... my favorite song from any source (TV, movies, games, etc.).
I recently replayed LTTP and finished the game just two days ago. This song is just amazing. The first two minutes are just fantastic, it really makes you reflect on the game you just played. Then the Zelda theme kicks in and sails you home.
and this is why that era was the best era of gaming.
the greatest credit roll and by far the greatest piece of music from the Zelda series imo.
And now, I cry...This ending theme is, and will always be, so wonderful!
i met this song in the symphony of the goddesses concert and i fell in love with it from the 1st second!!! just amazing!
Same. It's the one that stood out to me
Me as well. Been looking for a good recording from the Symphony of the Goddess ever since.
Arguably the greatest game ever made. Certainly a top 10 game on a lot of people's list. The ending was great, better than a lot of endings on today's games. Simple, but effective.
This is the one game I could play over and over for the rest of my life, and never grow weary of it. This is my favorite video game of all time ^_^
without a doubt, the best credits theme of any game EVER!
Easily the best game on the SNES and still one of my all time favourite video games even to this day!
I cry a bit too, when I hear this. It shows how far you have come to overcome the odds in life. Zelda forever!
This song is so sad 😞😥😢😔💔😪
This song is such an amazing classic.
My sister downloaded A Link to the past for GBA to run it on an emulator in 2013, she only rescue Zelda but I keep playing, I was like 10 years old and this game was so difficult for me. I remember one night of October of 2017, I had an important test next day but I wasn't studying for it, I was playing Zelda and that night finally beat this game, it took like 5 or 4 years but I did it and I was so happy, now I played this game again in Nintendo switch online and I couldn't believe how I remember everything, where to get the items, where to go, what to do in the dungeons and how to kill the bosses, for the first time it took me to beat this game 4 years, but this time it took less then a week
wow this ending theme song is amazing. Reminds me when i was a kid beating this game back in the early 90's... Great upload!
Yeah. It had to be on purpose.
Koji Kondo is a legend for writing this beautiful piece. One of the greatest video game songs of all time.
Gosh I never got to play this game (nor have I ever heard these credits before)
I've played all other Zelda games but this one. WHAT KIND OF HARDCORE FAN AM I?!
And yet, these credits just made me cry. I've never heard them before. I'm bawling my eyes out. Especially the beginning. Those legendary names rolling through the screen. Just. wow.
I NEED THIS GAME
the theme @0:43 seems so familiar to me.. does that tune EVER play in any other Zelda game?! It just filled me with nostalgia even though I've NEVER played this specific game before
this is late, but use an emulator if you're desperate to play it, or buy it on vc
Damn, I can't believe the comments section for this video remains intact enough to go back 10 years now.
I played this in 2017, got to final dungeon and irl kicked in so never finished and just ended up watching a playthrough of it.
I still love this theme and the one from the cutscene before it.
I think it's almost Chrono Trigger level.
And that's saying everything.
0:28 gives me musical frission
I havent cried in over a year and this story just brought tears to my eyes. Im sorry for your loss.
Well, whoever was playing this died far fewer times than I did.
and i'm crying again
The buildup to that very first iconic measure is just so good. Just that single note, then 3 beats of silence. Anyone who grew up with Zelda, the original NES game, just knows it by heart. It feels like the whole piece works up to that moment. Then it calls out to THE Zelda overworld theme. The only one that should ever play. And it's amazing.
When I first heard this, I was on the verge of tears because of how beautiful the music was.
Exactly.
Idk why, but 0:56 into the song, i get tears at this part. 😢 I spent so many hours on this game. IMO, the best Legend of Zelda ever...
Legendary
i saw that over 3 months ago i think about it everytime i hear the zelda melody now, so touching
This is THE best song in the entire Legend of Zelda series... hands down.
I just got a lump in my throat reading that...so sorry to hear the loss of your brother. This does show how therapeutic media can be. This is the real life Reign Over Me!
I feel ya give me chills. Sums up the whole experience and the best music starts right when the composer's name pops up,wow.
Koji Kondo. . he's a gift from god serously someone should make a statue of that guy
1:52 - All rise for the Zelda main theme.
I want this on my funeral.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. I think it was very touching of you to finish what your brother started. And I know that he's looking down on you from above saying "thank you." Be strong, my friend!
All these years I’m glad Nintendo found Koji Kondo the guy was obviously in love with what he could imagine!
@TheLuckystrike2000 I found the PDF sheet music there, along with MIDI + an MP3 version. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. ;-)
i love how it switches to the main theme as soon as koji kondo's name pops up
I want this to be played at the reception for my wedding
me to when I work very hard when I finally move to my final house in years.
this was the first game i ever saw end like a movie. it was so beautifully done
Without a doubt the most tear jerking, emotion stirring, nostalgic credit roll of all zelda games
My favorite game of all time.
I love this game. These credits will always be ingrained in my brain. Even though it doesnt seem like a lot is going on, this ending was so satisfying my first time playing it as a kid.
