    When I heard it on the title screen, I thought this song was catchy. When I realized the Earth God's Lyric was the first part, I was impressed. When I realized the Wind God's Aria was the second part, I was blown away. By the time they reunited, along with the ocean theme, Zelda's Lullaby, and Aryll's theme to form the credits, I had tears in my eyes. This game... this game was a *journey,* man.

      also, aryll's theme perfectly matches with zelda's lullaby, paralleling how aryll is mistaken for zelda. and the great sea theme similarly lines up with and compliments the classic zelda overworld theme

    I can't believe people hated this game when it originally came out for GameCube.

    • @xxProjectJxx
      @xxProjectJxx 10 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      Well, there was a lot to hate about it from the ocean segments being entirely too empty and long, the infamously bad triforce quest, and the annoying stealth bit in the first dungeon.
      It's more a shame that people at the time really only hated it for cursory things like the visual style, rather than issues at the core of the game. Made Nintendo piss scared to try anything new for a while.
      Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda by the way. Don't want it to seem like I'm bashing it.

    • @00thisisnotreal00
      @00thisisnotreal00 10 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      RayLedgend you were supposed to be exploring throughout the game rather than trying to finish the game as fast as possible for whatever stupid reason. when i got to the so called "horrific triforce hunt" i only had like 3 to go. if you had been playing the game the way that they intended you to play it, you wouldnt have a problem with the ocean "segments" or the triforce hunt.

    • @xxProjectJxx
      @xxProjectJxx 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      00thisisnotreal00 What's with your tone? You don't have to come off as so defensive over a video game. Jeez.
      So, are we even talking about the same version here? I'm talking about the Gamecube original, where I don't care how much exploring you did, practically no one would have made significant progress on the triforce quest before it was mandatory. I'll have you know I was always exploring, despite your rude assumptions otherwise, and going to new places when I played. The thing of it is, exploring is one thing, then there's grinding for Rupees to get the triforce maps from Tingle over and over. If grinding for obscene amounts of cash is 'the way they intended' me to play throughout the entire game, then it's still shit game design.
      Also, I'm sorry, but the ocean really was poorly designed. Big, sprawling . . . and practically empty. Nothing to do, practically nothing to see, and it takes several minutes to get to where you're going. It's boring and lifeless.

    • @00thisisnotreal00
      @00thisisnotreal00 10 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      RayLedgend first of all, how can you tell my tone when youre just reading my comment. and yes, we are talking about the gamecube version. i havent even played the wii u version yet. I DID complete much of the triforce quest before it was mandatory. the reason i assumed that you hadn't been exploring was because you referred to the great sea as "ocean segments" implying that you just use the sea to get from A to B. the ocean wasnt poorly designed at all. there are 49 MAIN islands, and it takes all of 3 seconds to get to any given one considering you can WARP after you get the bow in the 3rd dungeon., and lifeless? no. not at all. the atmosphere was amazing on the ocean

    • @xxProjectJxx
      @xxProjectJxx 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      00thisisnotreal00 I know you can warp, bud. I beat that game like 3 times. But come on, there's practically nothing in that ocean. That's what I meant by lifeless. The entire game oozes atmosphere, the ocean included, but on a gameplay level it's completely devoid of activity. Even those islands you bring up are still barren. There's like a treasure to find or something. Almost none of them are a meaningful distraction. The warp points are helpful, but you could still potentially have minutes of travel to get where you need to go.
      I say all of this as a huge fan of Wind Waker. Like I said, it's my favorite 3D Zelda, but even though I love it, I'm not blind to its flaws. I love it despite its issues, not because I refuse to see them.

    The Gamecube and Wind Waker was the last thing my father bought me and my brothers. I was 8 at the time. Its been 20 years since he passed. I remember hearing this for the first time and crying till couldn't cry anymore tears. It was such a jubilant game in such a dark time in my life. My father played Zelda since it first released in '86.
    My first memory was being sat up by a pillow watching him teach my older brother how to beat the first 2 Zelda games.
    The farewell of King Daphnes reminded me of my father. I miss him so much...
    Me and my brothers still play Zelda games to this day, its what reminds us of him the most...

      @@Lashteen I totally agree and you now what makes this ending more emotion then all the others in a certain event way that is it’s not only that you lost people on the way like the king and that ganondorf could not just let go of his ambitions NO! it’s that THIS GAME IS THE FINAL PROPER EPILOGUE ENDING TO OCARINA OF TIME EVENT aka ADULT TIMELINE and you just made a new era and future by leaving Ocarina of time behind if that doesn’t make you cry 😢 I don’t know WTF does.

      I know it’s 5 years later, but the way you worded it was beautiful. They sank hyrule beneath the ocean for forever, forgetting the past and heading straight I to the future with the rest of the world behind you. You got everything you had before, except now you’re more experienced. You’ve faced the doubt and treachery of the world, and still pushed through. Nothing can stop you now that you e faced everything.

  • @galaxyforever10

    This song isn't just a great ending song, it symbolizes the end of an era. Hyrule, the golden kingdom was forever sealed away, never to have footprints grace it's grounds again. This song was a farewell to Hyrule and the legacy it carried.

    • @Fureiji88
      @Fureiji88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      true but it is also representative of the story in how no matter how much despair there is, as long as you carry hope to the future and don't let yourself be tied by the past there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow to come so long as we have the courage to look for it.

    Just beat the game for a second time yesterday. First Zelda game I ever beat years ago, and probably my favourite along with BOTW. The soundtrack has got to be my favourite from a Zelda game

    I love this song. Such fantastic melody to go along to the completion of a great adventure game of a life time. Wind Waker HD will definitely be a game of nostalgia to me for no other reason than it just being an amazing game to play. This falls in line next to Ocarina of Time & A Link to the Past. Thank you Nintendo for all the cherished memories =D

    I literally just relived a massive journey of nostalgia and got teary-eyed…I got into Zelda with OOT, but WW was the first Zelda title I had actually beaten from start to finish. Such an incredible coming-of-age story for both Link and myself-this game was so charming and full of heart, and has had a special place in my memories for a long time. The end credits track gets me every time, especially that image with the last two bubbles featuring Link and Tetra as the last of the King’s memories floating to the surface.

    I find myself coming back to listen to this song atleast once a week. It’s silly how the credit theme of a goofy, lovable, cartoonish game can have such a powerful meaning. This song for years and years now has continuously inspired me to never give up and keep going and has helped me hold on to hope for so long now. I cant help but tear up a little every time I hear this absolute fucking banger of a song. Even in my darkest times when I feel like I’m at my lowest, hearing this masterpiece of a song helps remind me every time that no matter what happens, the wind will guide me.

    This game is truly a masterpiece, definitely one of, if not, my favorite games of all time. I’ve beaten over 5 times now and would do it again and not be bored. The Triforce quest at the end of the game is well known for being boring but I love it because you get to explore the huge ocean and discover things you’ve never seen. The dungeons are fun and interesting and so are the characters. Also the music from this game is my favorite soundtrack from any video game ever.

    I finished wind waker close to my high school graduation this year. I got the opportunity to travel to another country to finish high school. Started playing during the quarantine and finished with in-person school, which shaped much of who I am now. I really wanted to stay in that country for college but it didn’t seem very possible. When she says “As for our destination, the wind will guide us” when they about to look for the new Hyrule... that just broke me

    Courage. Power. Wisdom. Long ago, the Triforce kept Hyrule at peace. Then everything changed when Ganon and his minions seized the land. Only the Hero, wielder of the blade of evil's bane, could defeat them, but when Hyrule needed him most, he did not appear. A few hundred years passed and my first mate Niko and I discovered the new Hero, an Outset Islander named Link. Although his sword skills were great, he had a lot to learn before he was ready to save anyone. But from the first day I met him, I had faith that Link would save Hyrule. But no one believed me, and, well, they had a point. Today, our struggle ends. At least our current one. Ganon is gone forever, and without him, the sea is free from his dark ambitions. But the fragmented remains of Hyrule, hidden beneath the seas, are finally washed away forever. Defeating Ganon permanently left the Master Sword useless forever, even if someone ever finds it. Even the Triforce itself has scattered into Force Gems that spread beyond the Great Sea. And what if Ganon is just an aspect of an even more ancient and evil dark force, or can reincarnate like the Hero and me? My only hope is that somewhere out on this sea, or on some surviving land beyond it, someone can forge another blade of evil's bane.
