I was just watching a few of your videos yesterday, and I was definitely surprised but relieved to see a post from you today. I often rewatch your videos, namely the one detailing various ways to strengthen the hair without protein, that video was EPIC. It's interesting to hear you discuss your struggles in your career knowing how much I cherish this channel in comparison to others from people who are deemed experts in the field. The wealth of info provided here and the authenticity is unmatched to say the least. I'm saying that as someone who has been watching TH-cam videos about hair care practices for well over a decade now.
I can definitely relate to your struggle though, as someone who has worked in the scientific field for many years now bouncing between chemistry and microbiology. Then within the chemical industry itself, having worked in both QC and R&D. My time in research and development was short lived, but that's the area I have always been most interested in and passionate about. However, the opportunities just weren't there due to the fact that most cosmetic companies are nowhere near me. After what felt like the biggest fail in my career, when I relocated for a role (due to circumstances beyond my control) I went back to what was familiar and low risk and didn't look back. But your talk has definitely made me begin to reconsider... I don't have a clue as to how I can revive that area but if YAH wills, I'm willing.

R&D is definitely where I think I come alive and I feel very privileged to now be working in this capacity. With regards to where you go next, I pray God will guide you. But perhaps it may also be worth you taking a chance on that thing you’ve been considering doing/trying and see if there’s favour and fulfilment there.

Welcome back, dear! We all missed you! Thank you for this message. I have to admit, I was hiding behind education. I felt that I needed to learn more before I went for something I wanted to do, and as you said, I never started. A few weeks ago, an opportunity at work presented itself to me and I have to admit, I started to say "no" because I felt I wasn't ready; however, I did accept it for several reasons. 1. because it would have provided a learning opportunity and, 2. I would never know how much I know if I don't find the opportunity to use it. The opportunity was for a new role at work which would lead to me gaining more project management experience - I've been on the project for about 2 weeks now and I feel that although I'm learning, I'm able to bring some of my past experience and so far, things have been good. Thank you for talking with us and being so transparent and encouraging. Good luck and congratulations on all of your endeavors.

Afope!!!!!! I don't know if you will see this comment. But pleaseeee make a detailed video or video series for wavy/curly hair types!!😭😭😭 Especially for growing it out long. Because everywhere on the internet it's just the curly girl method for my kind of hair. And it doesn't work for me. I did follow it religiously for three months but it just made my hair sooooo tangled and that ends up causing breakage when I detangle it( even if I use a good deep conditioner with great slip). Although I have to say after binge watching all of your videos straight for like 5 days, I have started to incorporate it all in my haircare routines and my hair has started to look much healthier!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank youuuu for giving us such great content for free😭❤️🥺

I'm so happy for you! I'll always support someone following their dreams and being DISCIPLINED about it! You're right though, discipline seems to be a disgusting word and a taboo to many including myself. But no more. I went to school for engineering, I'm passionate about it, but I have yet to actually go for it because I've been too scared... until now. Your video has put a swift boot up my backside and after I press the comment button, I'm going to apply for engineering jobs. I'm so sick and tired of fear of failure and not succeeding controlling every aspect of my life. No more. I'm tired of it. I want to actually achieve what I worked so hard for in blood, sweat, tears, and many all-nighters.

Many things that you said hit a note with me and I'm not alone according to the vast majority of comments here. The key word being discipline. So true!!!
If I may share a spontaneous thought that occurred to me when you were talking about the 24 hrs editing process - set yourself for success! Make sure that the raw material is as good as possible, not needing to much editing afterwards. Maybe put a bit more thought and preparation in pre production so the post production won't become so tedious, tiresome and time consuming. Not to mention that this principle is applicable to any action in life.
Maybe it's just the schooled logistician in me talking but efficiency is THE criteria to fulfill when tackling a project, whatever that may be, professional or personal.
So happy you're back and looking forward to all the exiting discoveries you'll share with us in the future! I won't say "good luck" because this chit chat shows that you are steering your way forward on a not-so-straight-but-moving-on path. Thank you for being (again) a voice of common sense and sounding like a proper down-to-earth best friend we all need in our lives 😍🙏

Really appreciate the advice, and will definitely continue to find ways to make post production easier. To be fair pre-production takes a hot minute too - mainly trying to gather, decide on, arrange and structure the research and then script the videos in a way that is easy to digest.

Thank you for being so vulnerable with sharing your truth. I relate to so much of what you said. God gave me a love for natural hair and products a long time ago. I started a YT channel and was loving it (least favorite part was the long hours of editing so I feel you). But I somehow I told myself that I couldn't really turn this into a career and I stopped. This was inspiring, insightful and your videos never disappoint. I was happy to watch a hair journey filled with your old pics but this was so much better. I needed this and I guess I'm off to failing. ;-)
