    Long comment alert. I’m excited, sorry :D
    Firstly, THANK YOU!! Came across your page on insta, your videos are just brilliant! Totally loving the matrix diagram in this vid btw - more of this please!
    I have questions upon questions...
    1. I have several issues with my hair and have struggled throughout my life to find a few staple hairstyles that work and don’t damage my hair. My hair is pretty short, it’s fuller at the front, thin around the edges and quite thin in the middle (partly due to hereditary hair loss - not sure it can be prevented but I’d like to at least prolong it for as long as possible). My hair gets matted if I don’t braid it at night, but then it means I’m constantly pulling on my already weak scalp. How can I prevent the matted hair without braiding it so often?
    2. My hair was relaxed for about 6/7 months in 2019 and I’m still transitioning back to natural hair. I don’t mind relaxed hair but I do wonder whether I’m causing more damage to my hair in the long run. What are your thoughts on chemically treated hair and its long-term effects?
    3. I have eczema, which makes my scalp more sensitive. Do you have recommendations for products that won’t exacerbate the effects of skin conditions?
    I’ll leave it there for now ha! :)

      Hey take collagen, msm, ashwagandha supplements. Deep condition your hair 3 times a week with heat alternating between protein and moisturizing deep conditioner. Also pray in jesus name to have long hair. #staybless

    Quick question, when you keep your hair in the low bun, how do you ensure that your edges are not stressed?

  • @sonjabaptiste731
    @sonjabaptiste731 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Very good information. It's hard to find high porosity girls on youtube. I have never had to use a protein treatment though just a light protein deep conditioner. Do you do this because you blow dry very often. I don't use heat on my hair.

    • @AfopeAtoyebi
      @AfopeAtoyebi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks Sonja, as long as you use protein one way or the other that's what's most important. Some people will need more or less (even amongst us high porosity girls). My hair LOVES protein so it will take whatever protein I give it. I only blow out my hair 4x per year (to make trimming more straightforward) and I don't use high heat to do this so I doubt that it has much to do with this.

    What did you do for styling your hair before it was long enough for buns?

  • @Sumayyahsikiru
    @Sumayyahsikiru 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Fops, I thought it wasn't very good to wash our hair weekly to avoid manipulation. I once heard that we should leave our hair in protective styles for weeks so we can give it the chance to retain length without manipulating weekly. I follow that because my hair is really short so it can't even form a bun and the only way to protect my ends is to do the usual cornrows and I leave it for about three weeks before I loosen it and wash it. Please I need you to tell me if I'm doing it right or wrong and if what I heard is correct. Thank you.

    • @jemts5586
      @jemts5586 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Be observant of how your hair reacts whenever you try something. Do what works for your hair. You can't rely on anyone else to tell you if you're doing something right or wrong bc everyone's hair is different.

      Hahaha it’s all my wash days in a 6-8 week period girl. I mainly know what I’m doing Thais week based on what I did last week so I never actually have to remember the whole thing. E.g. if I used a protein free deep conditioner last week, I know for sure I have to use one that contains protein this week because my high porosity hair cannot live without proteins for longer than 2 weeks 😭
