Thanks alot!! after a while, i finally found out im protein sensitive. Thought i needed the protein, but in fact needed only moisture. Afope Atoyebi 🥰I went through Jane Carter’s site and found six products I should be able to use... haven’t ordered yet. With the new lingo I’ve gotta check all my existing Mielle products 👍🏾
Idk if I’ve commented on this video but I have to say this video is everything. I don’t buy a product without looking at 11:39 and checking each label. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you
Same. I found the kiehls deep conditioner with sunflower oil works well for my hair. My hair loves sunflower oil. Also, Organigrow low porosity hair dew works wonders for my hair. Her cowash was too heavy for my hair, but she has an entire low porosity line that is worth trying.

So HUGE thanks for taking the time to produce this very (!) informative video! God bless you sis❤ Update: So I tried the As I am mask, and much to my disappointment my hair felt dry when I rinsed it out. Don’t understand what the heck is wrong with my hair?! 😢
As I am has protein in almost every product. I’m the same my hair hates almost anything, only tolerates natural sea moss after clarifying shampoo. I have to get rid of the build up and then use products without any protein. I’m still learning and trying out products.

I’m about to get a perm and I have color treated, fairly dry hair. I’ve been doing extra conditioning to prepare, but not getting luxurious results (using Shea Moisturizing intensive hydration masque). I’m thinking it might be too much protein. Wow! My hair just fell out (about 20% of all my hair) due to the rice water protein treatment. I already used my Cantu leave-in & curling cream. BUT n however, I wasn’t expecting this vid to be as helpful as it was... I checked the leave-in as u were talking about how to identify proteins n BAM noted twice in the list: Hydrolized wheat protein & hydro..protein PG-propyl.. OMG! Now I see why I keep having hair issues. I haven’t been paying attention to detail. Had no idea rice water had so much protein (fermented for 2 weeks 😖) & then the ingredients in my products add fuel to the fire! Girl... #subscribing!! Thanks sooo much!
i jUst read all my ingredients too and recently bought the cantu curling cream. it seems like ALL my products have some form of protein, and my hair is so prone to breakage and brittleness. big whoops lmao 🥴
Your videos are great in teaching on protein overload and how to avoid it. I'm a little frustrated that biotin and coconut oil aren't mentioned as proteins to avoid. I understand coconut oil isn't technically a protein, however, it holds on to the proteins in our hair. I've been searching and searching..and searchinggggggg for products without any hidden proteins, waxes, biotin, or coconut to no avail. There should be a product somewhere in this universe that removes protein from the hair without adding more to it and without adding ingredients that hold on to the protein we are already trying to remove. Why does almost every hair product contain protein? It kinda sounds like a set up. "Make them think their hair is dry when really it's just protein overload to make them buy more of our moisture products that still contain hidden protein to make them need a clarifying shampoo that says it removes product buildup so it can add more protein"... Can you hear my frustration? 😆 Is anyone else besides me tired of spending money on all of these products only to have them sit in a drawer unused?? 😣 There's gotta be a better solution to all of this. Your videos have been helpful. 🙏
I feel ya. I'm here to find a protein free product. My hair has been dry for ages now, and breaking. No matter what I was using. Then I checked all my shampoos and hair masks, and they all had protein and hidden protein. So I used only products that didn't have any last night and my hair is soft as baby hair. 🥹🥹 It's not easy to find them tho.
@@MISSYMINX261 Maui shampoo, Avalon apple cider vinegar shampoo. At the moment. Faith in nature hair masks don't contain protein either. One has to check all the ingredients when buying a hair product, anything that has protein, or hydrolyzed anything, collagen, even coconut oil, they're not good for low porosity hair.
Very clear and helpful. I’m now looking at the ingredient lists and comparing with the notes I took from your videos....saves me lots of hair disasters and wasted money. Thanks so much!!!
Just wanted to say a big thank you! I didn’t realize I had protein overload. I bought the Giovanni 50:50 shampoo and conditioner. I already had the Camille Rose moisture milk and I also used uncle funky’s curly magic. I had great results with this routine and will continue to watch out for too much protein! Thanks so much for sharing! God bless you 💕
Does the Camille rose milk have protein ? I can’t have protein in my hair at all it’s so overloaded but I need a good Moisture leave in after the shower cuz it’s soooo unmanageable, ugh. Makes me cry
Thank you for making this video. I just realized my hair does not like protein and I needed to find products with no protein in them, and now I know what to look for in the ingredients.
I didn't realize I had protein sensitive hair until I tried the olaplex #3 I believe, at home treatment. And it was the legitimate olaplex too. My hair got so tangled and broke off...it was crazy!!🤯
I bought the entire line #1-7 because it worked great on my clients (I’m a cosmetologist ) and it RUINED my low porosity hair!! Worst decision ever. FYI olaplex is not a protein. It’s a bond builder, but it sure does feel like a protein!! 😒🤨
Im so sorry that happened to you to!! And yea I know its not an actual protein treatment. Which is why I wanted to try it, thinking it wouldn't hurt my hair. I have high porosity bleached and chemically treated hair. And I couldn't believe it 😟 I hope you got your hair lined back out ❤
@@Xoxmickey05 I thought it was just me! Olaplex caused great damage/ hair set back. I am still recovering. First thing I had to do was then shampoo with a clarifying shampoo to strip the protein out. Following with moisturing shampoo and deep conditioner. I also cut two inches off. It too about 3 months to recover🤬!!!
One of the best videos I've watched, soooo detailed and helpful. I also like that fact that you went through the stress of giving us examples of products and the little protein lecture!!! For those us of just starting our hair journey we say thank you. Pls sometimes chip in some tips and recommendations for relaxed hair girls like me. Great job👏👏👏
•Miche Beauty Cleansed Shampoo •Miche Indulge Deep Condirioner •Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel (leave-in/moisturized). I love using the Giovanni 50:50 Conditoner as a pre shampoo detangler. I haven’t used the gels she mentioned but am hoping to try them soon to help retain moisture in my hair thank you for your film forming humectant video!
Girl let me tell you, I just tried a shea moisture 2 in 1 African black soap and tea tree oil, it’s only 7.99 I believe, it’s in the men’s section i found it at Walmart! This is amazing! No protein, would be perfect for the weeks that you don’t clarify and it’s affordable! Bam!! Thankyou for teaching me to read ingredients! That’s how I found it! Lol
You are truly talented and it’s so refreshing to watch your channel with its good balance of professionalism & humour! Thank you! Can I please ask a personal question? Have you always had that hair texture or is it due to genetic factors? It’s absolutely gorgeous! I’ve recently ruined & damaged my hair (rice water overload gone wrong leaving a brittle thirsty texture) so I truly welcome your advice as I desperately try to restore moisture into my 4c high porosity hair type!
Thank you so much, Tanya! Yes my hair has always been this texture - suuuuuper coilyyyy. My Mum's hair is like this too. Ahhh, rice water overload is a bummer. It saddens me because LOTS of people are trying it without having information about how it can go wrong and then ending up with brittle hair. 😫
I’m on the cusp of shaving it all off. Before I take drastic measures do you think I should cleanse my scalp and then deep condition with less/non-protein products to rebalance and get mo-mo-moisture?
Thank you for the Giovanni 50 50 recommendation. I bought it in my local grocery store. I love it! I have fine damaged hair. It’s the perfect gentle clarifying shampoo
Hi.. I found u in January when I managed to put my hair into protein overload something Awful. I had never herd of protein overload until I used a keratin hair dye. I had no clue what I had actually done till I found your videos. Then it all made sense.. Thank You. 😊 I had been making progress with getting back to normal until I used the Hydration Elation. Now I'm back to square one. I used the Sally beauty supply site to read the ingredient list. It didn't have the Betaine In there at All. So I used it. My hair was a straw mess right afterwards. I went to the as I am page and found that Betaine was the 3rd ingredient.I cried😢. I noticed you made this video 3yrs ago.. that's plenty of time for the company to reformulate it. I dunno.. Maybe Betaine isn't too much for just low porosity hair.. but my overload hair hated it. I wanted to let u know this since it's on the list of protein free products. Thank you for your videos..😊
Love your videos so much, they are so informative! Could you do a video about hair that gets easily over moisturized and about what to avoid? I think there is quite a few of us having this kind of issues 🙈
Absolutely loved the way you presented the information. I am currently experiencing this issue. I really needed this video to help me become more knowledgeable and aware. Before finding your video, I had spent the better part of the night researching. Thank you for the clear speech, bright lit video, and the information. Alikay Avocado moisturizing conditioner, TGIN honey hair mask, Cream of Nature Argan moisturizing shampoo, and My Black is Beautiful shampoo. I am not sure about some of these. Also the Curl Junkie shampoo.
It's funny! I'm now seeing the mess I've been making mixing protein and protein-free products without realizing how much protein overload I've been creating.
Thank you! My hair has been looking awful lately and I truly suspect it's due to protein overload. I'm going to try some of these recommendations. Thanks for breaking them down by type I was having trouble finding good lists elsewhere.
I didn’t see any of those ingredients in the products I have now and I’m going to start using the products you suggested for my low porosity hair but I don’t like to waste products. I’m a junkie I’ll admit but I’m trying to get down to one of everything from the shampoo to the moisturizer. So until I can get to the products you mentioned, which product as far as a cream do you think would be best for my med dense, low porosity semi grey hair. Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie or African prides moisture miracle curling cream? Also, I have been using suave rosemary and mint shampoo and conditioner and suave daily clarifying shampoo when I need to clarify. What do you think of those? ❤❤❤❤ I I would really appreciate the help. Learning my hair has been a long and exhausting process. Thanking you in advance
You know your hair!! Want to thank you for giving true information . I do have a question if you would be able to help . My hair has shrunk so tight to my scalp and I cannot pull it loose . It just shrinks right back up soon as it dries a bit. Any help will be much appreciated.
I have protein overload. How is Camille rose Moisture milk protein free if it contains rice milk? I need to avoid all proteins why would we use this if it contain proteins
Great video. Very informative. I am still so confused. I've been searching for weeks for protein free products. Can't find them. Many have aloe in it. Isn't aloe protein? I destroyed my hair with the aloe leaf and oil mistures, aloe vera oil and coconut oil. My hair is damaged. Super brittle because of the protein over load. My hair doesn't react well to Shea Moisture or certain Cream of Nature pmixtures, My scalp actually developed small scabs and itch horribly when I use coconut oil. I am going to try the Treseme clarifying and shampoo you've suggested.
June 2024. Hello, three years later:). Aloe vera confuses me too. I have read that it is a protein, I have read that it ACTS LIKE A PROTEIN. I think the form of aloe vera (juice, gel, powder) may have something to do with it? I'm sitting here right now with rough, dry hair and I think it is due to my use of aloe vera juice as a spritz after deep conditioning. I'm going to drop that and start over with a protein free regimen to find my baseline. I hope you resolved your hair situation. I read on Afope's TH-cam community page that she was transitioning to TikTok, but I cannot remember the date.
Kinky Curl Leave in have protein in it? Isn’t marshmallow root and slippery elm considered protein? I’m trying to get rid of protein overload would that help or make matters worse?
very informative ! just put my hair into braids that'll stay for a couple of months , but i look forward to implement the use of more protein-free products in hopes my hair won't be so darn hard and rough
Hi hun good video ..ive got relaxed hair but it's so hard to find products that are not for curly hair..or protein or silicone free ..any recommendations please ..would the camile rose moisture milk be good ?? Thanks 😁 I've subscribed 👍👍
Thank you for your video. It mades soo much sence. However, coming from the UK it can be difficult to get some products or its really expensive. Any chance you could help us protein sensitive people with more information on protein free mouse products. Thank you. 😊
cuticle does not raise or lower. What occurs is a radial expansion of the cortex that pushes the cuticles, increasing the space between them. This movement is called swelling. No serious scientific literature states that the human hair cuticle can open and close. If you find an article that says this, it is very possible that it was commissioned by a brand to defend its own interests, such as selling products that "seal cuticles" and "balance pH", hair does not have pH but rather pI( isoelectronic point)
As soon as this video started and you said your a scalp-ologist (lol see how I did that) I subbed. You're a black! Woman! Also anddddd you're high porosity like me so I'm definitely about to watch your vids now
I have bought the Giovanni and it has aloe vera which is a protein as well as soybean which is a protein both in the clarifying shampoo and the conditioner?
Have you tried the Camille rose coconut water leave in? Would you recommend it? Apparently it’s a slightly better version of the knot today. I bought the curl milk but thinking of getting the coconut leave in also.
I have, I actually really liked it and agree it is very similar to knot today but in my opinion not better. KK Knot today has been my staple for years. My Low porosity hair also enjoyed Shea Moisture silicon free miracle styler and Mielle Organics Pink Peony. Hope that helps!
Talking about Camille rose that is protein free well rice by itself have protein and can destroy your hair, I had severely damaged hair because of rice water. A lot of food have protein too which act same as keratin and protein even coconut oil, cloves, fenugreek etc…
Thanks love! 💛Fun fact: this was the FIRST EVER VIDEO I filmed for this channel, but it was 23 minutes of pure talking and SO BORING - my goodness, it had to go 😂. Thankfully, I've had some time to improve my videos, and I've been itching to talk about it, so I think it's about time I put it back on the content schedule.
Hi Afope, In the ingredients list of a... conditioner/mix product I recently ordered, one of the ingredients listed is "cassia obovata ". I googled this word and found out it has protein. What else can you tell me about this ingredient and the potency of its protein content. And should I follow the products directions about letting it sit on the hair for a minimum of 30 minutes. I have been avoiding proteins since my overload around 2020
I hope it’s not too much to ask because I know you don’t have my hair type but I’m struggling!! Can you do a video on products and tips for low porosity, protein sensitive 4c hair???? Please I’m dying over here sis😩😩😩
Hey Girl! Don’t worry it’s not too much to ask. I did a video on deep conditioning low porosity hair ... it’s not much but it’s a start and I think you may find it helpful in the meantime, whilst I work on other low-po content?
Afope Atoyebi I just watched it but I’m going to watch it a few times. So I can apply your suggestions to my shopping cart. But I was trying to decipher what was for my hair type and porosity level
Quick question: Is Betaine an amino acid? and If so, than it's a protein correct? It's listed as an ingredient in the Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Shampoo on the website in your link. Just want to be sure before I buy. My hair is VERY protein sensitive. Thanks for all your other suggestions! Love your channel!
@@mizzmiami3242 Right now I'm using Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment in Citrus Lavender. Haven't been able to find a styling product that doesn't weigh down my hair yet.
I'm in protein overload right now. The Betaine In Hydration Elation set me back something Awful 😢. I'm not sure if the Hydration Elation has changed over the years since this video.. but Betaine is the 3rd ingredient now. I'm right back where I started in January. I don't know if amino acids affects low porosity hair differently than those in protein overload.. but it wasn't good for my overload hair. 😢
Is " glycine soja (soybean) oil " a protein? It's in the very last lines of a product i want to buy but i don't want to harm my hair anymore as I have protein-overload currently ?
Hi their I love your video! And a Merry Christmas and happy new year! Can you use to much protein shampoo on your hair? That’s all I seem to use, but my hair is a bit snappy?
possibly really stupid question, but I stumbled over the marshmallow in the last two products (kinky curly curling custard and the camille rose one); Isn't marshmallow mostly egg whites and that is basically pure protein? let me know what you think! thanks so much for the awesome video!!
I do have a question about Cocamidopropyl betaine... I looked it up it said it was a thickening agent and sulfate cleanser but I don’t know if it a protein as well. I’m trying to find a “protein free” mousse for my braids. 😩 it’s hard

I said i only use olaplex...everything in the line........ SHe has too many people coming in with the same product.. and they called me!!!!!!!!!..OMGOMGOMG........that it was from the last several new releases.. pleeeeeez write me... if you read this.....i need to get products today....NO PROTEIN.......thank you....
Hi, please can you let me know if aloe Vera juice in products counts as a protein? I’ve seen a few reviews saying aloe products have given women protein overload. Thank you x
@@mariaasmrr Yes, Aloe Vera can be damaging to protein sensitive hair (I found out the hard way) but it’s also dependent on the usage. I was using this product that contained Aloe Vera daily 🙄😩…Now I only use products with a natural protein on a monthly basis. X
Aloe vera and the larger proteins (e.g. wheat), seem to cause flash drying in my medium-low porosity hair. So most of the products mentioned are no good for me 😞 could you advise what products, especially stylers, I could use to help fight frizz and get more definition, please?
My hair hates proteins & coconut oil. I use the SoapBox argan oil shampoo/ conditioner. I clarify with cantu shampoo. I DC with TGIN honey mask. N Pantene dry oil.
What if you have thin wavy hair, I have a lot of hair but it is thin. My parents are from Cyprus with different ethnicity. So I have that type of mediterranean hair , please can you help as my hair gets greasy very fast and I have no idea what products to use x
Thank you so much for this. I just discovered my low porosity hair is protein overload. I did a protein treatment and used products with protein and my bleached hair was breaking off. The next day I used shampoo/ condition and cream with no protein and my hair felt soft and curls looked defined. Now.. here’s my question. When do I bring back protein in my hair? I don’t want to have the reverse issue with moisture overload.
Can bring the protein in once a month then twice and include moisturing products (Shampoo, conditioners or Leave-in) rather than more protein based products with your main protein treatment product.
Some of the products have aloe Vera and coconut oil which you said in a previous video to avoid if you have protein overload. So now I’m super confused😩 I have products that contain aloe Vera and coconut oil, can I keep using them?😬
Me too! I'm so confused by all this conflicting information about coconut oil and aloe vera. Sometimes I hear people say they're like protein and leave a layer on top of low porosity hair and therefore you should avoid them. But then they're also constantly being recommended as super hydrating, especially for low porosity or finer hair 😩
Thank you so much for making this video. Have you tried the Giovanni leave in conditioner? Any thoughts on it for low porosity. New subbie. Just discovered your channel ☺️.
I purchased TRESemme Moisture Rich (7 X more luxurious moisture with Vitamin E) - both the shampoo and conditioner. Would these products be OK for my protein sensitive hair? I actually overloaded on protein for about one month and my hair kept shedding and has become quite thin.😢 I bought all of those products before I saw your videos. Your videos are amazing and helping me understand and decipher labels, although I am so new at this. Thank you for your help.
It has algae in it, which could be a protein filled extract but it depends on the specific algae extract so you’ll have to cross check with Camille Rose Naturals themselves
I think I have protein overload. Today I used a clarifying shampoo, followed up with the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Hydrating shampoo, and my hair was fine BUT did the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey hydrating hair mask and my hair is hard, frizzy, and dry. How soon should I start the process of removing proteins?
So I do the LCO method. I was using knot today as leave in, and Curl Definition's moisturizer and an avocado oil mix to seal. This video is great but I'm getting confused which products I should use for my LC part of LCO method since you lump the leave in and creams in one section? Do I choose 2 products in that section, for example using knot today and Camille Rose curl love?
I tried the Curl Love leave in and for some reason it has the same effects as protein leave ins. I can't tell which ingredient in it that my hair doesn't like. Maybe the rice milk?
Hey Girl! That's such a shame - this is one of the better protein free leave-ins out there. I would be surprised if it was the rice milk as that ingredient has very little to no protein in it. If anything it's more likely to be the aloe vera, as I know some people have had adverse reactions to aloe vera as it naturally does contain some amino acids. Have you noticed that your hair reacts badly to other products containing aloe vera? I would also say check that you don't have mineral or product build up on your hair, as this can cause moisturisers to act weird when applied to your hair.
Here are ALL the products I mention in the video AND MORE - Don’t forget to add yours in the comments below too, and let’s see how far we can populate this list!

What have you done to fix your protein overload?? I still have it from rice water too...
Love your enthusiasm! I could listen to you all day
Your videos are great in teaching on protein overload and how to avoid it.
@@md.md16 Can you share the products you use?
@@MISSYMINX261 Maui shampoo, Avalon apple cider vinegar shampoo. At the moment. Faith in nature hair masks don't contain protein either. One has to check all the ingredients when buying a hair product, anything that has protein, or hydrolyzed anything, collagen, even coconut oil, they're not good for low porosity hair.
@@md.md16 thank you!
Girlll. I could start a store with the products I have. I’m tirrrreedddTttt😢😢😢😢
I have found my high-porosity queen ..... and I am not letting GO!!!! Thank you
Thanks girl 😂😂
I can’t have protein in my hair at all it’s so overloaded but I need a good
Moisture leave in after the shower cuz it’s soooo unmanageable, ugh. Makes me cry
Thank you for making this video. I just realized my hair does not like protein and I needed to find products with no protein in them, and now I know what to look for in the ingredients.
At last ! A brit that can help with hair knowlage and recemondations 🤗🤗🤗
And I couldn't believe it 😟 I hope you got your hair lined back out ❤
Same happened to me!
Thank you so much! I'm glad it was helpful. I may just have to do a series for relaxed hair because we're all out here and we all need the tips!
What about how all those film forming humectants act in humidity or air conditioned environments?
Hello, is there a eco style gel without protein ?
•Miche Beauty Cleansed Shampoo •Miche Indulge Deep Condirioner •Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel (leave-in/moisturized). I love using the Giovanni 50:50 Conditoner as a pre shampoo detangler. I haven’t used the gels she mentioned but am hoping to try them soon to help retain moisture in my hair thank you for your film forming humectant video!
did it work out? hows your hair now?
Girl I am soooo glad I found your channel!!!
Lol
Yesss Girl! Thanks for sharing this 🥰🙏🏽
Afope Atoyebi no problem at all! I really love that you actually respond to us on here!!
Thank You. 😊
I had been making progress with getting back to normal until I used the Hydration Elation.
I think there is quite a few of us having this kind of issues 🙈
girl as soon as you said “hair specialist” i subbed🤝💕
Hahahaha Thanks Girl! 😂🥰 Welcome, welcome ☺️
Hiya! Thank you so much! And these additions are great! 💛
Thanks for making this video I've been having a hard time finding the right products
OMG i am loving your channel! Learning so much. Thank you! 😘
Yaaaay! 🥳 So glad 💃🏾
It's funny! I'm now seeing the mess I've been making mixing protein and protein-free products without realizing how much protein overload I've been creating.
Thank you so much! I have 2c/3a course hair and after over moisturizing I try to keep in balance.
You are so welcome!
Kinky curly is not strong enough for my hair so in use wetline extreme gel....flaxseed gel has protein right????????
Thank you! My hair has been looking awful lately and I truly suspect it's due to protein overload. I'm going to try some of these recommendations. Thanks for breaking them down by type I was having trouble finding good lists elsewhere.
I am very joyful today. Thank you!
Thanks very informative love your channel ❤
I have protein overload. How is Camille rose Moisture milk protein free if it contains rice milk? I need to avoid all proteins why would we use this if it contain proteins
Thank you. Great vid. No other recommendations for deep conditioners?.
My hair doesn't react well to Shea Moisture or certain Cream of Nature pmixtures,
My scalp actually developed small scabs and itch horribly when I use coconut oil.
Oyin Hair Dew leave-in is great for us low porosity girls all year round
very informative ! just put my hair into braids that'll stay for a couple of months , but i look forward to implement the use of more protein-free products in hopes my hair won't be so darn hard and rough
What about the Giovanni leave in????
Can you help me my hair doesn’t Like protein and its fine not curly What shampoo is good ?
Hi hun good video ..ive got relaxed hair but it's so hard to find products that are not for curly hair..or protein or silicone free ..any recommendations please ..would the camile rose moisture milk be good ?? Thanks 😁 I've subscribed 👍👍
I just bought a Camille Rose set and am very excited to try it!
I haven't tried all of their products but all the ones I've tried are so so good

I keep buying that black gel....
I think that's why my hair is so brittle
cuticle does not raise or lower.
Woman! Also anddddd you're high porosity like me so I'm definitely about to watch your vids now
Hahahha Thanks girl! Welcome welcome!
I have bought the Giovanni and it has aloe vera which is a protein as well as soybean which is a protein both in the clarifying shampoo and the conditioner?
Wouldn’t film forming humectants make hair dry in a dry climate?
xtreme Gel and lotta body mousse is great for us Low Porosity gals too
What about sensitive scalp anytime I used certain oils like coconut olive oils it burns my scalp.
I found the coconut water far too light and thus ineffective. It does soften though
I just bought the Giovanni 50/50 and I looked at the back of it and it has aloe vera as well as soybean they're both proteins?
The Kinky Curly Curling Custard has aloe vera juice as a top ingredient. Doesn’t aloe vera contain protein?
Thank You Thank You For this video I have been looking for protein free products forever!
Talking about Camille rose that is protein free well rice by itself have protein and can destroy your hair, I had severely damaged hair because of rice water. A lot of food have protein too which act same as keratin and protein even coconut oil, cloves, fenugreek etc…
Love this video!! Please can we have a video of sulfates!!
Afope Atoyebi yay please do! Can’t wait to watch
Are these recommendations only aimed towards type 3+4 hair or could some of them work to help my very dry wavy-to-straight hair?
on the topic of gels, the Garnier Curl Scrunch Gel is protein free!
Hi Afope,
In the ingredients list of a... conditioner/mix product I recently ordered, one of the ingredients listed is "cassia obovata ". I googled this word and found out it has protein. What else can you tell me about this ingredient and the potency of its protein content. And should I follow the products directions about letting it sit on the hair for a minimum of 30 minutes. I have been avoiding proteins since my overload around 2020
Very informative.saw you by chance.lovingg you videos.please i will be looking out for them
Do u think the as I am deep conditioner is good for wavy to straight hair?
Hiya,
I see the Camille rose curl love moisture milk has rice protein in it. Doesn’t this count as protein? Thank you!
Yep
Please help! Where in England can I buy the Giovani 50/50 clarifying shampoo.. I don't see any online (i.e boots).
Where did you purchase yours?
Quick question: Is Betaine an amino acid? and If so, than it's a protein correct? It's listed as an ingredient in the Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Shampoo on the website in your link. Just want to be sure before I buy. My hair is VERY protein sensitive. Thanks for all your other suggestions! Love your channel!

Hi, please can you let me know if aloe Vera juice in products counts as a protein? I’ve seen a few reviews saying aloe products have given women protein overload. Thank you x
did you ever find out the answer? my hair is protein sensitive but i want to try the giovanni 50/50 products but they contain aloe
Yes
Aloe vera and the larger proteins (e.g. wheat), seem to cause flash drying in my medium-low porosity hair. So most of the products mentioned are no good for me 😞 could you advise what products, especially stylers, I could use to help fight frizz and get more definition, please?
Hate aloe💯💯
Great video, I think a protein series would be good.

My hair hates proteins & coconut oil. I use the SoapBox argan oil shampoo/ conditioner. I clarify with cantu shampoo. I DC with TGIN honey mask. N Pantene dry oil.

Hey Love! I bought the Tresemme shampoo for my protein sensitive hair, but on the back I read that there’s biotin in it. Isn’t biotin a protein?
Can bring the protein in once a month then twice and include moisturing products (Shampoo, conditioners or Leave-in) rather than more protein based products with your main protein treatment product.
what shampoo/conditioner did you use that had no protein?
The Organic Root Stimulator monoi oil leave-in also has no protein
Is giovanni shampoo just for clarifying ?
Because I want to use every week
I purchased TRESemme Moisture Rich (7 X more luxurious moisture with Vitamin E) - both the shampoo and conditioner. Would these products be OK for my protein sensitive hair? I actually overloaded on protein for about one month and my hair kept shedding and has become quite thin.😢 I bought all of those products before I saw your videos. Your videos are amazing and helping me understand and decipher labels, although I am so new at this. Thank you for your help.
Awww thanks Almetra 😊 Does the moisture rich have proteins in it? Have you used it yet? How did your hair respond? Soooo many questions
lots of information!!! thank you
This was so helpful, thank you! I saw a video that stated the Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask was protein free, can you confirm?
It has algae in it, which could be a protein filled extract but it depends on the specific algae extract so you’ll have to cross check with Camille Rose Naturals themselves
I think I have protein overload. Today I used a clarifying shampoo, followed up with the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Hydrating shampoo, and my hair was fine BUT did the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey hydrating hair mask and my hair is hard, frizzy, and dry.
Your L can simply be a spritz bottle but the way you’re doing it is perfect as well since the knot today is filled with humectants
@@teeeee9174 thank you!
Afope Atoyebi Thanks! This was helpful. My hair usually reacts well to aloe vera. Maybe it is mineral or product buildup. I’ll try clarifying.
