    11/1/2022 I currently own a Vintage Longines 5-Star Admiral Automatic Watch 69-394AZ - 14k Yellow Gold. I even have its original case, tags, instruction booklet and warranty information. I have owned it since I was 13 years old, that was in 1966 when it was brand new. My particular model has a sleek slim body and a very modern face / read out. It's still to this day fully functioning and it keeps immaculate time. Now I'm 70 years old and I'm thinking of selling it. Please share your comments with me.

    Just found a watch my dad was given for his high school graduation. It's a Longines 2030 and his initials are scribed on the back along with "1956" which is the year he graduated. It's got the normal signs of wear, but very little discoloration. I wound it and it works great and keeps perfect time.

    I have found a used Admiral Five star, quite cheaper than I thought but I have to male sure it's original and authentic before buying it. Love the design of it.

    Nice Admiral. I just picked up a 1970s Gold filled at a very low price but I'm really aiming for a Gold 1960s later, I also picked up 2 Vintage 1960s Omega Seamaster and Seamaster De Ville the other day so I'm tapped out for a minute!

    Vintage Longines is amazing, their movements were absolutely fantastic! Back when Longines WAS Longines!

      Right there with you Tom! I don't think many people see the value that Longines once had, not saying they don't today but they were definitely something of higher caliber for the time

      Swatch won’t let them compete with Omega

    I like the badge of stars on the Admiral. There is definitely some magic in vintage watches, specially for people around my age. I have a Vostok Komandirskie, which is made in modern day Russia but is virtually identical to the original one made in the 1960s in the Soviet Union for the navy wing of the military. The only difference is that the original was labeled "сделано в ссср" (made in USSR) and the modern one says "сделано в россии" (made in Russia). It currently sells for about $40.
    I also had an interest in a Rolex they made in the late 1970s which was made of gold and I absolutely can not afford, but I saw it and don't know the model. Anyway, thumbs up.

    I love the HydroConquest, besides its size (too big for me), I do think it is a very well option for a dress and sport watch.

      Oh yes the hydroconquest Is a great first luxury watch, a little too but bulky as we agree but it fits the bill for many people, appreciate your comment Daniel 👊

    Longines needs to use that long rich history to their advantage to get back on top and create more awesome watches! Oh and stay away from Quartz I just don't care for the mechanism as it's a joke! Their great for accuracy but that's all as for mechanism the Automatics rule!

      Right?? It's good they're starting to go that way but they have so much more potential on the table they haven't capitalized on!

    Hm.. never seen a $400-$500 automatic Longines lol they stand in the $1k-$3.5k range.

    • @WatchTWM
      @WatchTWM  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed many will be over 1k, some of their vintage divers ever go for 5+, guess that’s the price of scarcity lol

  • @fionamcmillan9033
    @fionamcmillan9033 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is typical. If you check out shopping channels you see the price for buying is way higher than scrap. Also expensive brands like piaget are selling a classic watch for £50,000 that is ta copy of their vintage watches. There is a market for vintage watches as they are classic and more special than the samey watches considered fashionable. Of course expensive watch brands have over inflated prices. A Swiss movement will be quality whether a poplar brand name or one bought over by the swatch group.

    I just got one gifted form my grandfather its super cool but I need to replace the crystal and I cant find anywhere my model... It's like the one in the video with arabic numbers, automatic aswell and the strap is gold and steel. It says on the dial: 990 Swiss 4831. I can't find it anywhere on the web...some help? Thanks :)

      @WatchTWM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, congrats on the gift! Secondly, I’m in the same boat. Finding anything about this watch is really hard. Very high chances you’ll be able to replace the crystal with one of similar dimensions/specs. I’m sure any competent watch maker will be able to outsource one for you. Hope that helps, and cherish that thing!

    Thanks for paying attention to Longines, I like them too.
    One more thing, I can't keep my eyes of the middle poster in the background? It looks badly framed and therefore cheapens the whole video.

    • @WatchTWM
      @WatchTWM  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man thanks for you comment, longines is awesome! They're all the same frame, the ripples in the paper are just more obvious in the middle one due to the lighting

    AS A MATTER OF FACT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH IT LOOKS THE SAME AS MINE EXCEPT MY DIAL IS A DARKER GOLD COLOR! ADMIRAL 5 STAR MODEL 1570 , CALIBRE 633 , (1970-1979) 35MM DIAL , 20 MICRONS OF GOLD PLATED!

    It’s all about watch snobbery. There is better out there and cheaper prices for much more stylish watches for similar prices - why I wouldn’t buy a Longines Watches, as saw them as overpriced and overrated.
