As I’m approaching retirement in the next 3 months, having been actually born on October 2nd 1962, the day before “Lift off!”, this will be my retirement present. WOW!!!🥰👍🏼😎
Ah, I appreciate it Justin. Truth be told... I held out this week with nothing prepared and no idea if Omega was going to drop anything spectacular yesterday. Basically hedged my bets that it would be worth talking about (even if it was a diamond encrusted yellow gold monstrosity) 😆🥃
I went today to the Omega boutique to try the new Speedmaster FOIS and is a marvelous watch. The bracelet is "like silk smooth" and confortable. I'm proplaby get in one. Great video, Thank you!
I’m glad that most watch enthusiasts are all thinking the same - they have knocked it out of the park with this. Phenomenal release. I’m rarely taken aback by a watch. I am today.
Absolutely more beautiful than a Daytona. And more interesting. They made a sapphire crystal look almost exactly like the old Hesalite acrylic. Gorgeous.
@@Mpantiques There is plenty of information on the co-axial movement. Basically less friction (no need for lubricant really), less wear and tear, and therefore reduced servicing.
Sold my 3861, a GS Quartz, and Explorer II this year to swap in a GMT Rootbeer and round off my 3 watch collection (GMT, 40mm No Date Sub, Explorer 36). Done. Finished. I'm out. All I will say on seeing this is damn you Omega! What an absolutely stunning piece.
Couldn’t agree more. I really can’t get over the dial, gorgeous, and the specs are spot on for nearly any wrist. We’ve been pining for the 165.024. If we never get our wish, this is a more than worthy substitute. Great job Omega 🥃
I'll agree with you, massively. As an owner of an Omega 300m and an Aqua Terra, I've been reluctant to pull the trigger on a Speedy. Until now. This is the one I've, unknowingly, been waiting for. I've never fallen for the Moon Watch as it stands. It just looks, and felt, too damn plain. This latest FOIS is magnifique! I must try it on.
"...., this is my dream speedmaster, and it now exists" May I add, that @IDGuy's commentary, the purpose of which is a convenyance of opinion and thought to the viewer, matches this speedmaster's appeal. Keep doing this!
That is one beautiful watch! The dial color has that wow factor for me. I’m always drawn to dial faces that set themselves apart and this certainly achieves that. It’s always a treat to see what you will review next. 🥃
I've literally been leaving comments everywhere saying just what the world needs another 'special' Speedie..... But listening to you I've realised this really is something special.... Thank you as always!!!
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 it's a faithful recreation of a special one, and it has characteristics (eg. size, blue dial, alpha hands) that make it stand out from the rest.
One amazing detail: the sapphire crystal emulates a acrylic one with its shape. If only they had a sapphire case back with ceramic bezel it would have been perfection
AWESOME INSIGHTS AS USUAL! To differentiate from The Ed White 321, Omega BRILLIANTLY faux-lume the hands and indices! I already placed an order in with my AD!
Utterly, utterly brilliant. This is truly the first time in years that a watch (let alone a Speedmaster) has appealed to me so much. Congratulations brother 😉🥃
They have completely nailed it and I am going to add it to my collection as soon as possible from my 145 transitional to my snoopy and white dial 55 years worth of history, in one watch.
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops!AMZWATCH watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
As soon as i seennit on omegas website i had to get it so a put a order with my AD. This is the best vintage inspired piece i have saw it is very beautiful. I was considering a breitling avi reissue but they are very limited. It will compliment my Speedmaster Racing perfectly.
They’ve done really well here. And that’s huge because I haven’t said that about a new Omega since the 3861 Moonwatch. Excellent video, as always, and I hope you get your FOIS soon mate! 🥃
I am currently in the process of building my dream Speedmaster. I have an FOIS, and I'm adding the following things, dial from a broad arrow reissue (correct logo and font, relumed with superluminova old radium), white alpha subdial hands from the '57 trilogy, FOIS hour and minute hands, lollipop from the CK2998 limited edition (painted white and relumed with superluminova old radium), the Naiad crown from the '57 trilogy, FOIS pushers, spiralwinders sapphire case back, and NOS 861 blocking lever to replace the delrin one. Parts are currently getting painted and relumed now. It might not be original, but it will be my own and just how I want it.
As an Omega collector, I had all the pieces I really wanted - now that may have changed. 😂 This new Speedmaster looks awesome, so definitely going to have to check it out at my AD. As always, great video.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm
I really appreciate the dive into this model, your coverage changed my mind about this release. I really did think it was just another iteration of a speedie. Very tempted to delay my retirement and run to my AD.
Was in the German Omega boutique yesterday in Stuttgart. Since Thursday was national day in Germany, they had it first only since yesterday. What a piece. Wifey was there too. U should go there today alone 😅
This gets me giddy. The original FIOS was like the JJ Abrams Enterprise. This FIOS is the TOS Enterprise. I hope there will be a sapphire sandwich variant lol. Love looking at that movement.
This is such a beautiful watch! I love the dial and the indices. All colors work so well together. The only thing they should have done is made the size a full 42mm.
@ID-Guy, As we have come to expect from you, this is an exceptionally well-done video. Somehow you always manage to find something interesting to give us, thank you. My guess is the FOIS will mostly be a piece enjoyed by enthusiasts who understand its significance. But what do I know. See you in the next one.
I have the 2021 release Speedy Saphirre with the 3861 movement. I previously had the first generation Speedy SS with the 1863 movement. The newer 3861 movement, for me, was a major upgrade. Finally, Omega released a Speedy that could be hacked which made time setting a breeze and, after six months of ownership , mine consistently runs at +1 second per day. It's a gem but I have to admit that this new Anniversary model is a real showstopper. Omega went all out on it and it shows in every little detail.
Love this new Speedy. With already the professional and the Apollo 11 50th in the collection i will not be going for it. But if i had to pick one now, this would be up there. Thanks again for a great video. Enjoy the weekend. 🥃
As always another great video. What a watch !! I was quite enticed by the white dial, but now I need to see this one , perhaps in the metal. I am fortunate to have a great AD in town, i'm certain he'll get some.
ID guy, i absolutely agree with you. This is the one, and i want, but I will wait a while before pulling the trigger. It was a great review, as always.
Great video. They always reel us back in. 😂 That is very nice. Love the dial color and markers color. If only someone would free Omega from Swatch group I might consider it.
It is beautiful! I have the hesalite Speedy, and love it. I could easily fall in love with this one...or is it the white dial Speedy....now we have substantial choices. Thank you for this brilliant commentary and don't ever tamp down your excitement - makes me come back every weel!
What I've never understood is this "dot over 90" interest. I mean how much of a Speedy enthusiast nerd do you have to be to even care? We watch guys are already suffering from a mental disorder but this puts it over the top.
Honestly, my only major gripe was never seeing the classic applied logo on the dial, the other details are a bit hardcore 😆 Who knows what a "Soleil dial" Speedmaster is today? this is the über nerd piece for sure 🥃
Beautiful except the fauxtina. That’s ok though. I love my 3861 sapphire sandwich which is the perfect Speedy for me. Hope you get this Speedy in your collection sooner rather than later.
My first thought was they’d put the 321 in it (precious metal and all the rest) Still cannot believe this is a “regular” production model… un-freaking-real 🥃
Totally. If I didn’t already have my sapphire sandwich and the full moonshine gold, I would get this as my first speedmaster. I’m going to go to my AD today to look at and hopefully buy the 39.5 black seaq, I am hoping they have this new piece in for me to see in person. 🥃
It seems like Omega has been making a pigs ear of everything for years now and it’s been painful to watch as a Omega fan but for the first time in a long time Omega has got it right in every single way. Please let this be the end of the rot and a new beginning where Omega can reach their potential at last. A new Seamaster is the next challenge and the past is a good place for inspiration. It’s not exactly rocket science, we want it thinner like an old one, back to a 41mm case like an old one and we want the fine wave dial back like an old one. A bezel that doesn’t feel and sound like a £50 watch would be a bonus too.
Thanks for pointing out all the design problems with my Fois reissue compared to the original, but considering I paid £2700 for it full set and warranty. I think I can live with them. 😊
Holy smokes… basically 1/3rd of this new one? And it makes me wonder with my 765 & A384 (both fell in the ballpark of £4k)… it’s a hard pill to swallow spending £7k ,right? 😆🥃
@@ID-Guy I consider this new watch superior for sure. It's a sign of the Omega price rises, though of course they are far from alone there. In these inflationary times I'm glad I did sometimes spent more than I should have in the past.
Many thanks for your assessment! Your opinion is very important to me! If you tell us here that this is the best modern Speedmaster yet, then I believe you. Although I'm very familiar with Omega watches, including the Speedmaster (I got a lot of Omega watches), I wasn't sure whether I should really buy this watch. After watching this video, I am absolutely convinced and will order the watches from an Omega boutique as soon as possible. Thank you very much for this video! Keep up the good work! You are the best!
As a first generation FOIS owner, I can't justify, going after this new one ,and braking up with my first generation. I don't quite, see the twice the price, in value proposition. I prefer to wait, possibly in vain, for the re issue of the 165.024. Great video as always, thanks !
I’m town between this, the white dial, roles air-king and Tudor bb 58 gmt… I know that’s a weird list but I’m looking for a primary watch and I want it to be a heavy hitter. Love them all.
well to me, the previous release of the FOIS was the magic bullet of speedies. This one is right up there as well, but I think the pragmatist would hope that this creates some sensibly priced clean last get models, rather than gearing me up to want to buy this one.
Every TH-cam watch critic agrees. It is the best Speedy ever. Perfect. Word for word, every critic says the same thing. It sounds like MSNBC praising Harris. It is about as genuine as a three-dollar bill.
I like it, even if the faux-patina bothers me a bit. The original, when new, would not of had faux-patina of course. And I agree the lollipop chronograph running seconds hand would have been fab, adding even more character and would really clench the deal for many enthusiasts! I’m also fine with the solid caseback too, as getting a bit petered out with display casebacks on nearly all mechanical watches (mind you, all manual-wind Omega chronographs have good looking movements 🤷♂️) show the movement if it’s really gorgeous to look at, otherwise no need. A person who purchases one of these likely already has a few display caseback timepieces in their collection anyway. The extra slenderness it gives is appreciated too, especially when it comes to over chunky Omega’s.
I have this gut feeling that the Soleil dial is going to blow minds ;) But the closed caseback? yeah... it's a bummer. Would've been awesome to have seen the 3861 🥃
First things first, great Margin Call reference 😂. I'm glad I held off on the white dial Speedy. Hoping this is not a limited run FOIS, I would love to add this to my collection. Great video as always ... Ps If you liked Margin Call, check out Too Big To Fail. Cheers!
I’ve never been a Moon Watch fan. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but they were just not me. This is the first Speedmaster that I would consider owning.
@@ID-Guy This is the bastard love child of the new White Speedmaster and the 57 Speedmaster. The fact that they priced as they did, is amazing. It will out of stock for a while as soon as it hits the stores

I currently have a 1999 GMT 50th anniversary, and a 1999 SM Professional chronograph. Now I want this one too!
Every TH-cam watch critic agrees. It is the best Speedy ever. Perfect. Word for word, every critic says the same thing. It sounds like MSNBC praising Harris. It is about as genuine as a three-dollar bill.
Really nice looking watch, would love to put it next to my seamaster 300.
You and me both brother! Matte black dial vs Soleil… Man it would look superb 🔥
This watch just screams ID Guy's name. Fantastic episode as always
Not a huge fan of fauxtina and the Speedy never really rang my bell but I’m happy for the fans of this.
The speedy has never rung mine either (besides the 2998) so this is truly lightning in a bottle striking twice for me 😉🥃
I thought the white dial was a home run but the FOiS outdoes it. For me, it's perfect.
Fun fact: FOIS also translates to time in english. Shows Omega has a very smart marketing department.
Almost perfect, the suburst dial and the closed caseback make me prefer the standard
I have this gut feeling that the Soleil dial is going to blow minds ;) But the closed caseback? yeah... it's a bummer. Would've been awesome to have seen the 3861 🥃
You definitely are on fire 🔥
First things first, great Margin Call reference 😂. I'm glad I held off on the white dial Speedy. Hoping this is not a limited run FOIS, I would love to add this to my collection. Great video as always ... Ps
If you liked Margin Call, check out Too Big To Fail. Cheers!
I’ve never been a Moon Watch fan. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but they were just not me. This is the first Speedmaster that I would consider owning.
You and me both sir. This is the first Speedmaster in 5+ years (maybe even more) that’s really appealed. Crazy how one piece can change the equation 🚀
@@ID-Guy This is the bastard love child of the new White Speedmaster and the 57 Speedmaster. The fact that they priced as they did, is amazing. It will out of stock for a while as soon as it hits the stores
Really enjoyed your passion for this amazing watch! You should get one 😅
Absolute 🔥🔥
“That thing ****ing rocks.” -Me, yesterday, when I first saw it.
I had to try and slow down and not geek out too much in this video while covering it… freaking superb machine 🔥
Good that Omega os doing things like this.
Now do a 1963 Sharktooth Seamaster too Omega.
It will take me a few years to save up for one of these. Hopefully by then, prices have cooled down on the gray market to grab one.
Of course, prices will cool down on the second hand market.
