That's a Longines 990 series. Those were the last in-house Longines movement ever made. The 990 series were a marvel of mechanical watchmaking engineering at the time (these were introduced in 77). That movement was so good that it was later repurposed for use with Breguet watches (Breguet Calibre 591A)! In the last couple of years Longines made a couple of Heritage models that re introduced the 990.
@@FrenchWatchCollector Longines doesn't make in-house anymore the 990 was before they were purchased by swatch. The only thing they did was launch a couple of watches from their héritage collection using the 990, I believe in 2010 or so. But that's a really good watch and movement. For Longines collectors like myself, it's a must have in the collection! Cheers
Wow, what a fascinating movement! It's very beautiful. The only time I've seen 2 mainsprings is in the alarm watch. How interesting. As always, the care and attention you give to these amazing pieces is appreciated.
Superbe montre comme à chaque fois et chouette révision avec un nouvel angle de caméra sympa de mettre un visage sur les mains 🤣👍🏻 Du coup on voit aussi ton super établi horloger 👌🏻⏱️
I have the same watch which was left to me after my father passed away . It wasn't in working condition. I fixed it . Cost me about 250 usd to get it back in good condition
What is the model and ref. number of this Longines? Unfortunately Longines does not use this movement on their modern watches. Swatch probably does not let them.
I think it was thinnest automatic movement with twin barrels, the JLC 920 used in the AP Royal Oak 5402 launched in 1972 is 2.45mm tall, this one is 2.96mm. Just a small clarification!
That was super cool. What a beautiful movement and wonderful detail on the servicing of it. Curious about that winding stem gasket, I’ve not seen that before. Very interesting. Have you come across that sort of gasket before?
Sorry by the way didn't have any money this month. Hope I can resup next month. Interesting, this is the most complicated uncomplicated watch mouvement I have ever seen. Lovley
Bonjour, Je voudrais savoir si vous pouvez faire une révision au mouvement mécanique à une ancienne montre que je possède si je vous l'envoie ? Si oui combien me coûterait à peut près ? Merci d'avance

Thank you for the information. It is very interesting and I did not know Longines was not making their caliber in house any more

Hi. I usually don't like watches with only two hands but it is always nice to see a mechanism with a different layout :)
I dont like watches with two hands myself but this caliber is nice
Lovely video what a beautiful watch 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Your vids are getting better and better. 👍🙂 Nice job on the Longines too. Fantastic caliber.

Thank you! Cheers!
Nicely folded wheel train and a very desirable piece.
It sure is!
Great stuff my friend! Just stop saying: "I am pegging the jewels", because it doesnot mean what you think! 😉🤣
🤣 I know what you mean but it is called like that in English in watchmaking
I have the same watch which was left to me after my father passed away . It wasn't in working condition. I fixed it . Cost me about 250 usd to get it back in good condition
Perfect
Can you do a segment on the Elgin Thin Thin with a freesprung balance, the last American made Elgin?
I would need to get a watch
Hello, very nice watch, and nice video , I have two questions, what caliber, and it was dirty ?
The caliber is L990 and it was diry and probably not serviced for a while
What is the model and ref. number of this Longines? Unfortunately Longines does not use this movement on their modern watches. Swatch probably does not let them.
The L990 and its relatives were the world's thinnest automatic movements when introduced in 1977. Only very recently was this record supplanted.
Yes it is so thin and well engineered
I think it was thinnest automatic movement with twin barrels, the JLC 920 used in the AP Royal Oak 5402 launched in 1972 is 2.45mm tall, this one is 2.96mm. Just a small clarification!
That was super cool. What a beautiful movement and wonderful detail on the servicing of it. Curious about that winding stem gasket, I’ve not seen that before. Very interesting. Have you come across that sort of gasket before?
Yes you can find them on cases of dress watches like this one
Very cool, thanks!
Wow, what a nice movement, and that dual mainspring arrangement is very unusual. What is the caliber number?
It is a 900 series caliber from longines
Sorry by the way didn't have any money this month. Hope I can resup next month.
Interesting, this is the most complicated uncomplicated watch mouvement I have ever seen.
Lovley
Thank you

Bonjour,
Oui je peux faire ça. Vous pouvez me contacter sur mon site avec le lien dans la description de la vidéo. J’aurais besoin de renseignements
Why hide this movement. Both it’s inner workings with the omission of a second hand, and a solid case back?
I think this watch is at least 40 years old…before anyone made clear casebacks.
It was not that popular or common before see through case back
@@BradyBegeman I think this watch maker could do something to make that happen.
91 thumbs up
Thanks Steve
12:10 You've gently harmed the gear, welcome! The KNIFE? What a f***k a your're doing? I'm gently leave, thanks.
Its lemania 8810
That's not accurate. This movement is the L.990, developed by Longines in 1977. It was later sold to Lemania in the 1990s and became the Lemania 8810.
Thanks for the information
👍
Over complicated??? Its quite a simple movement. Just thin
Yes it is not complicated but for a 3 hands caliber it is a bit more complex than your standard 3 hands caliber
