Except they cannibalized many epic models from the Heritage collection in favor of the Hydroconquest and Zulu models in the sports collection.
Beautiful vintage inspired chronographs not really offered by anyone else: gone.
Still a great brand but somewhat myopic.
If anyone can make it all, Longines is capable yet unwilling.
I was blessed to stumble across the Longines Heritage Pulsometer Chronograph: absolutely one of my favorite timepieces with a very charming vertical clutch column wheel chronograph mechanism and monopusher with pulsometer scale.
      Classic.
Rarely produced elsewhere. . .but discontinued?
      Why?

Awesome brand. It’s the Rolex for smart money. I’ve worn the brand on my wrist for over thirty years. When my last chronograph finally died from daily use I sent it to Switzerland and they told me it was beyond repair as they did not have the parts for it. They then offered me 70% of any new watch. A master collection chronograph now gets bettered daily on my wrist. Love the brand.

I'm really glad you made this video giving Longines this in-depth coverage. I've historically been a Seiko fan given history and value, but over the last few years, I feel Longines has taken that position of delivering exemplary value in both movement and designs at a very aggressive price point-especially as Seiko has been increasing prices while not delivering any innovations in movements and just iterating on same past designs. Longines is now making great watchmaking accessible to many. Great video, Teddy!

I’m a petite (4’-11’’) woman who’s always loved watches. But, I am not really interested in the normal smaller, non-complicated jewelry-type watches typically marketed to women. In 2015, I wanted to get myself a really special watch. I ended up choosing the 42 mm Longines Master Quadruple Retrograde. It is THE watch in my - small and modest- collection. Talk about value for money! I still get joy wearing and even just looking at it. Although it’s quite substantial, I find it suits me perfectly and I often get compliments when I wear it (both at home in Switzerland or when I travel back to Canada). Thank you for this video and also the one when you visited them (I was soooo jealous!).

It is a massive effort to stay lean and fast and a deep dive on the brand. The fact is longines 60 yrs ago was positioned higher than omega, and now even if is fast recovering still is like a butterfly changing is form to a new more premium one without forgetting that the quartz models and swatch make them survive. I bought a Master Collection Moon Phase Chronograph last year and couldn't be happier. It is really something special. There is no watch out there that has better specs for the money. It uses a highly upgraded 7751 movement that features silicon parts for better magnetic resistance, a column wheel replacing the cam system, and a longer power reserve of over 70 hours.
It isn't perfect: water resistance is low. The bracelet uses friction pins instead of screws. There is no micro adjustment or half links. That being said, it really is a great watch and I enjoy it more than almost anything else in my collection.

My first "love" was a Lindbergh, but I quickly realized that it was too big for me. Instead the first better watch I bought was a Conquest. Since then I have gravitated away from dress watches towards bigger ones. And I also strive towards only having one watch of each brand in my collection, so... But If I instead would go for a one-brand collection Longines is one of few I would consider. My suggestion would be: a Flagshipp Moonphase, a Conquest (the sportswatch version), the Ultra-Chron and the Big Eye. (It's almost a must to have an aviation watch with that brand history.)

I just got one. I had a Longines Opposition that I gifted to my son and I really liked it. I have a quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chrono and the Opposition was also quartz. So my first automatic is the green dial ceramic bezel HydroConquest. I went to a shop and compared it with a 1K Mido and boy the Longines blew it away. Yes it's more expensive but the amount of quality and features for the price was really impressive once I compared it to other watches. It really is a fantastic piece. I love that it goes with everything and that the green dial is muted enough that it doesn't command attention. No one but a watch enthusiast will notice it on my wrist which to be honest I really like. I know I have a watch at the beginning of the luxury watch tier and it goes unnoticed. Great watch, and it now sits on my wrist way more time than the Tag.

Thank you for making this video. I currently own a Spirit and love it. My next Longines is the Central Power Reserve, it’s incredibly unique. Longines is my favorite brand. Beautiful watches with great quality but I really appreciate that they are affordable.

Thanks for sharing, when I started looking at horology, I did not care that much about Longines, but I've learned so much of the value they represent and the heritage with the super informative videos you share. I've learned a lot from them.

Teddy - this is really, in my opinion, one of your very best videos! ( I know, quite a statement!) This is truly a nice comprehensive look at a brand. I own a Longines Record I bought in 2019 - it is simple yet elegant and was my daily driver through the pandemic. I truly believe, dollar per dollar, it is the best of the best. Great job all the way around on this one!

Hi Ted: I own a Longines Master Collection Triple Calendar Chronograph with Moon Phase (the last watch you highlighted). It's truly a great watch. It can be dressed up or down and always looks great. In my opinion it is one of the greatest values in the industry. What you get in this watch for what you pay is unmatched.

What a Video Ted. I was leaning toward a couple of Mido's to start a collection. This video changed my mind. I like the idea of having so many different avenues to extend a collection with the same brand. 10 out of 10

Longines Hydroconquest was the one that made me fall into love with watches. I saw it on a poster in Sydney in 2018 and finally bought myself one a couple of years later! Manifesting for a Rolex now! Will reach there soon!

Been curios about Longines for more than 20 years, but back then couldn't afford one and didn't quite like the size of their models. But, as soon as I saw the spirit 37 mm in flesh, I decided to buy it on spot

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on amzwatch 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

Longines also got so many gold-steel combination watches at a good price. Longines is a brand I would buy used unless something I really like and Longines has so many to fall in love. They do give discounts.
