    This brings back memories as the first virtual organ I tried! I still remember how I thought the 'Cornet' was originally a 'Comet' due to the font spacing! :D

    And, I really like the sound of the sampled organ. The organ itself has the sound of a Casavant. I'd be interesting in knowing more about the original instrument.

    It really is remarkable how good this sounds - with just a couple of notes sampled per octave. We are spoiled with wonderful organ software now - long may it continue!

    Beautiful. The Hautbois and Trompette always sounded like a Tuba in my opinion . Also a great thing about the organ is the tremulant with the flutes and octave 2'.

    The best combination for second manual is when you mix Gamba 8' and Bourdon 8'. So beautiful!!!

    Ah as with likely many here this is the first virtual organ I played through Grand Orgue. I haven't been back to it much after getting Szecinek which is remarkably similar to my parish organ but it was great for learning the basics when I first started with the organ and it is a nice and versatile little instrument

    This was the first VPO software I ever tried and the first organ as well, as I’m sure is true for most of us here. I certainly agree with you GO has several issues and is certainly less than ideal for performance, but I’ve still found that it makes an excellent substitute for those who can’t afford Hauptwerk. Great demo, Paul!

    • @PaulFey

      What were some of the issues. I just downloaded this and looking to add it to the keyboard at our church (couldn't get the current organ fixed).
      I have found with initial trials that I can run sound through my keyboard as well as through the midi. Giving a range of sounds to be mixed together.
      I like the sound and think it will add to what we are already using.

    What kind of computer are you running GrandOrgue on? I heard a glitch that you mentioned, but as a computer person what I heard was not a problem with the sample set, but a bus-contention glitch, possibly caused by the audio driver; or having too many other background tasks running. I noticed the glitch only happened on full organ, when the software would be the most compute-intensive.

    • @PaulFey
      @PaulFey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran these GO Demos on my Laptop, you are right - it’s only in the louder passages and it seems to be some sound-latency issue. I set the latency very low to have a good feeling instead of a delay in keyboard-touch 😀

      Thank you for watching! On GrandOrgue right? When you are setting up the keyboard (right click manual of organ and set up) you need to press the highest and lowest key. There is a setting for the keyboard attack/velocity too which is around 126 if I remember correctly. Set it to 0 and you should be fine!

    Grandorgue has some advantages. You can create your own organ, mix samples... But you never have a convincing output for a pipe organ lover. I prefer II/P on either real PO or non-PO imitation (harmonium, e-piano or e-hrpsichord). Ersatz is tiring.

  • @kosinusify
    @kosinusify 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a very weird sample set. I know it's just a demo, but... still weird. Some registers just borrow samples from another one, transposing them up and down, and one flute (I think it was the Bourdon 8) sounds pretty dry in a certain range, as if the reverb was added in artificially. Which is pretty sad, because I actually like this set very much. Anyway, still looking forward to the video!
