    Modartt have certainly created a product of interest. Cheaper (at Euros 249) than Hauptwerk or Viscount 'Physis', I'm sure many will find the physically modelled pipe organ sounds created worthy of the price and capable of delivering music from the organ repertoire. However, it has some way to go before it is as refined as 'Physis' modelling and for those organists who like high quality sample sound sets of some of the greatest organs in the world, it offers no serious competition at all. You did an excellent job demonstrating its potential, Paul. But potential does not always lead to full satisfaction and I think 'Organteq' needs more sophisticated programming if it hopes to be a serious contended in the virtual organ market place. As with much in life, you get what you pay for.

      Keep things in perspective guys, Organteq costs no more than an average meal in a restaurant for four people (with wine & tip!). It represents excellent value for money and is still Version 1. You’ve forgotten the meal 2 days later while Organteq is an instrument that will serve & inspire you for a very long time.

      Disagree... Organteq in some important respects is superior. Variability of the attack makes the instrument feel more real, the interface and ease of use while not directly related to the sound, is far more intuitive in organteq. Load times are way superior. Plug and play capabilities are way above hauptwerk... Takes up very little space..
      Furthermore, modartt modelled instruments have a reputation of somehow feeling more alive than their sample-based competitors because while one is a beautiful photograph of the real thing, the other is the instrument properly recreated to behave and respond like it in real time..
      I don't love all the sounds in organteq yet but even then the product as it stands is solid enough to be worth considering and I sure as hell enjoy it.. as the updates (hopefully) come, sample based solutions will become progressively more irrelevant..

      @@julianmanjarres1998 Fortunately, we are all entitled to our opinions and preferences! I agree that organ generated sound is superior to sample set recorded sound. However, Hauptwerk clearly satisfies many organists who are happy with the 'beautiful photograph' approach and the leading sample set producers offer sounds of some of the greatest organs in the world to play in the comfort of your own home - at a very high cost indeed! Viscount Physis seems to me to be more sophisticated than Organteq . . . currently! You should visit the TH-cam channel of 'Digital Pipes' and listen to some of his recordings of digitally generated organ sound - superior to both Hauptwerk and Organteq, in my humble opinion!

      Nothing from Modartt is sample based. All sounds are created in real time as the musician is playing, by using mathmatical algorithms. This keeps the file size quite small as it is able to more accurately produce the experience of playing the real instrument.

    I hope some more Physical Modelling based VPO software like this gets developed with even more stops and more customisability. I have tried the demo version of Organteq and it is amazing how good it sounds and how you can change the tuning as well as the position and dimensions of the environment. It would be interesting if you could create new voices using different parameters (like the software used for Viscount Physis) and build your own custom organ layout using the user created voices. Best yet, this software runs very light on hardware so if a user extendable version was to exist we could go crazy on spec and not have to worry about hardware.

    • @TheBenwarwa
      @TheBenwarwa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope we will have more stops choices. It would be very interesting to able to built our own organ with the stops we could choose in a kind of bank of stops. Let's suppose a bank with 5 different diapason sounds, 5 clarinet different sounds, 5 for flute, 5 for bourdon, etc. The organ stops could be sold separately.

    I love your harmonization on St Saens's Tollite at 5:00 This software sounds really good, it looks easier to use than Hauptwerk, more intuitive regarding the interface. I'm very glad with GrandOrgue now, but I shall have a look one day. Thanks for the demo, I have never heard about this softaware

    Thanks for this demo Paul! While I agree with some of the comments that there is some time before OT matures, it is an impressive accomplishment so far (the ability to right click any stop/tremulant and adjust everything is fun!) - I use it as my "note-learning" instrument (my console doesn't have its own sounds) - I use a couple of 8F flutes and a principal with almost no reverb - there is no latency, and nowhere to hide ;)

    • @PaulFey
      @PaulFey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that’s a good method! It‘s really impressive for the programs size and load time I‘d say!

      Tubas are not reed instruments. They are members of the brass family.

      @@PaulFey do you, by any chance, know if there is an "automatic pedal" avaiable in Organteq. Meaning that the lowest note on the manual is played in the pedal. Like in GrandOrgue. This is useful if one has only one keyboard with no pedal board.

    Klingt sehr gut unter deine Hände… Muss aber sagen, dass es kein französische Oboe gibt (besonders wichtig im Récit) Daher ist es wirklich unmöglich einen richtigen tutti Fonds zu registrieren weil ich verstehe das bei Markierungen wie „Fonds 4,8,16“ gehört auch die Oboe. Was denkst du davon und wie ersetzt du die Oboe in diese Situation?

    • @PaulFey
      @PaulFey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Herzlichen Dank! Ja, das sehe ich auch so wie du - es ist ein toller Versuch eine Universelle Orgel zu erschaffen (diese Orgel ist nur 35mb groß!) aber es fehlt dann an manchen stellen leider. Die Oboe kann man schlecht ersetzen 😕
