    Dammit...where was this like 4 days ago! lolol. The very vague Exedy how to video said to put red Loc-Tite on the pressure plate bolts as well, so I did, but, it is likely not necessary. Thank you for the video, though! Its comforting to know I did it correctly.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. I don't see any issue with using a drop of loc-tite on the pressure plate bolts as well. How hard was it to get the trans back up in place?

    • @strang3majik
      @strang3majik 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BoostedFilms I actually did it all on the ground as I had the engine out for a rebuild. So not hard at all. Haha. Getting the throw out bearing to seat in the monoloc took some serious pressure, but it was easy enough.

      Thanks! This is suppose to be a street friendly clutch if you don't mind a bit of chatter noise. But I'll report back after i get a chance to drive it a bit and compare it to the single disc ACT.

    What's the average mileage people are getting out of an exedy twin disc?

  • @BLACKzj52
    @BLACKzj52 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good stuff as always. Jealous of the twin. So you didn't polish the floater plates and step "towers"? I've heard a couple people mention doing that to help prevent engagement issues.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hopefully i can be a good test case here. I've heard on a brand new clutch its not required. However, people can certain do so if they think its needed. I know you installed HD but I'm how it drives in traffic. I am about my original clutch after about 145k miles. It's my daily and it is bone stock. Should go I with a light flywheel and hd organic clutch? I added the cost it's almost as a organic exedy twin disk.

  • @RenntatoRacing

    Bought a used one myself. No paint lines on it but this does help at the least. Mine could use a new intermediate plate. Curious if only replacing one plate will throw off the balance

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm curious as well. I see so many of these for sale used, i would really like to know what is involved in the rebuild process. Hopefully something I can dig into at a later date.

    • @RenntatoRacing
      @RenntatoRacing 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoostedFilms its just all new plates. If the flywheel is to be machined the steps actually have to be ground Aswell. But being able to replace individual parts makes me think balance isn't such an issue for usability as it is for chatter.

    Thanks for the video. How do you like it in comparison to single act xtss ?

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The clutch pedal feels similar between the ACT single disc and the exedy twin disc. I do think for normal driving, the act single disc is easier to drive. With the exedy twin, I end up with a clutch shutter more often than i'd like between shifts. Rev matching fixes it and of course i'm no pro driver, so it may just be me.

    Did your twin plate come with the alignment tool in the kit ? Reason why I asked is mine didn’t and become a pain as the car was on the ramp waiting for the correct tool to arrive. Don’t want this to happen to anyone else who buys this kit

      Yea, i think the clutch should come with an alignment tool. Did you buy your twin disc new?

  • @bigl4201
    @bigl4201 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the ACT Monoloc IS compatible with Exedy twin? I ask because my clutch pedal locked to the floor while accelerating away from a stop sign (less than 5MPH). Clutch is two years old (less than 10k on it). I am thinking the TOB lock popped out. No leaks anywhere at all. I will be adding ACT Monoloc and STM fork stop.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pooter - The clown correct, the monoloc will work just fine with a exedy single, twin or triple disc clutch.

      I had a non-OEM TOB split in half on me one time (clutch and TOB was installed by PO of my Evo). When it happened, I could shift into any gear.

    Why did u change from act clutch to exedy twin disc and how was act clutch?

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I liked the ACT. Easy to drive, held for 25+ launches at around ~375 hp. But it was starting to slip a bit. If you never plan to run over 350 hp, you can save the money from buying a twin disc and run an ACT HD set-up. With the Exedy...I heard the twin disc is "the clutch" to have if you are running under ~550 hp, when it comes to streetability and holding some good HP. So i thought i'd give it a shot.

    • @BoostedFilms

      Pjay J no engagement issues. From my understanding, polishing is only needed if you are using a re-built clutch. Mine was brand new.

      @@MrAjd1982 probably. 3Ok seems like a decent amount of miles especially if you have some launches on it. I’ve put about 2k miles on my twin disc but already have like 20 🚀 launches. So I’m doubtful I’ll hit 30k miles on mine.
