  • We ripped the engine out of the e30 and tore it down in record time. The issue was completely different than we thought. Time to slap it back together and see if it will hold.

    At least it wasn't too bad. I've sent worse so I wouldn't worry about it. In the end its your car so you're taking all the risk when it comes to blowing it up, not like it's a customer car.
    My wife's car has had a crazy valvetrain noise for at least 50k. I personally don't trust it but it's been that way and driven totally normally for 3yrs. It's louder in the cold but it runs like new so it'll be fine until it's not. I had the timing chain done at a friend's shop and he said he wasn't sure what it was either but it runs fine so send it.
    The shops looking really good cleaned up.

    Wow that’s some shit with the H.G. Glad you were able to clean it up enough to slap it back together. Crisis adverted lol. Hell of a deal on the s54. Can’t go wrong with an s54 e36, especially an estoril slick top with black interior. Pretty rare combo with no sunroof. You should definitely throw a CSL airbox on that thing. They sound phenomenal with them, and you’ll be able to go alpha-n. Can’t wait to see the m20 back in action. M60 swap is looking good on the touring Ham!!! You’ll probably end up hating those stock motor mounts. Every m60 car I’ve had trashes the stock hydro mounts pretty quickly, especially the drivers side the way the engine inherently ‘torques’ and twists. I ran the Revshift poly ones on all the m60 cars I owned as well as all the customers cars that I replaced the mounts on. They all needed them and the poly mounts really help on the v8 cars. They are much more noticeable of an upgrade over the 6 cyl cars. It’s annoying when they tear too cuz the hydraulic fluid drips all over and the engine will actually sag pretty good and knock the whole drivetrain out of alignment and can fuck with the driveshaft especially if the trans mounts are weak too. I went poly on them and never looked back. Digging the snazzy new shirt Will!!!👍🏻👍🏻

    I had a feeling I shouldn't try to run a cut ring on my M52TU, even before I found the head stud threads had left the chat. Glad it was a new thing tho, many have spun a bearing but cut-ring install/failure things seem few and far between, especially like Will's grease idea

    Hey Chris, just gotta into your channel, love all the BMW content! In your opinion, if you had to choose a route for an E30 rally/race car, would it be M20 turbo or LS swap? Thanks!

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What's up man? Appreciate the follow. It think e30 turbo, that is turned down from mine, I would rave 350whp, would be an amazing car. LS would be cool as well, but just a lot of compromises with fitment and placement of components that make it inferior to turbo m20 in my opinion.

  • @kyleknudsen2131
    @kyleknudsen2131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    yes! turbo e30 will live again with minimal repairs! i knew it had to be something falling into the cylinder, didnt know cut ring head gaskets had the rings separate from the gasket though..

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is from one of Zach's customer cars and the replacement engine came missing a lot of components and they were salvaged from this one. I would have to spend a few thousand just to replace missing parts before I even started to fix it. Not worth the time or investment to me. Would rather focus on finishing projects. I'm only $400 into it.
