Can’t say enough they did an outstanding job. Long way from Crockett Texas but well worth the trip.
How is the 5 speed with a 410 LSD? I have a 91 auto vert with 410 LSD currently, and then all the fixings to do the manual swap. I've been worried that I'll have really high revs on the highway.
For people outside the US watch out with the statement at 7:25, In europe the M20B25 engine was already available from 1985 onward and early ones had the crank position sensor on the bell housing.
Super eta heads have the same 325i outer valve springs, but no inner valve spring. You can add the inner spring and bump up the redline if you have the ability to do so. The cam is also milder than a 2.5 (for low end torque) and the cam has less journals, which means that if you run a 2.5 cam you need to drill out some oiling holes for a few journals (which were previously unused).
So let me sum up the build with a list of the major parts that a guy needs to build this budget Stroker... 1) An engine block from a 2.7 or a 2.5i M20 2) The Crankshaft and Rods from a 2.7 M20 3) The Short Skirted pistons from a 2.5 M20 4) An "885" Head from a 2.5i M20. 5) The Ignition setup from a later model 2.5 known as the 1.3 which contains the front mounted crankshaft pickup sensor and all it entails... 6) The larger runner Intake from a 2.5 Besides all the machinery and labor would you say that sums it up in the major parts needed?
Yes, a couple other items of note, the b27 and b25 use different AFMs, use the b25 AFM. B25 uses 4-wire o2 sensor vs. the b27 3 wire. The b25 has a larger throttle body setup, make sure to use the b25 throttle body and intake boot.

What were the final numbers you guys were looking at, at the dyno was it what you thought it was going to be at first 200 for cheap job & 300 for the job done right
quick thing the rod on the m20b27 is shorter its 130mm vs m20b25 which is 135mm that is due to the block having almost the same deck height difference of around 0.5 mm so the main difference is in the stroke of the crank since its 81 mm (2.7) vs 75 mm (2.5)
What would the result be if one was to use the bottom half of the 2.7 with the 2.7 dish'd pistons and using the "885" head and 2.5 Intake and Ignition? Perhaps lower compression but that may allow use of the 87 octane gas? Any comments?
Compression would 8.42:1 compared to 8.5:1 of the super eta and 8.8:1 of the b25. I just completed this exact setup in a car and it felt great. Also you could definitely run 87 octane in all three of these setups with no detonation issues.

@@DENVERBEERANDOIL Just watched it. Good info! But I might have another question (or two). Could an pre-07/1990 B25 piston work if you would machine the bottom side, so it would clear? the b27 actually has the highest compression of the US m20s at 9.0:1, but it is because of the small combustion chambers in the 200 head. all b27s have the same pistons besides the super eta. b27 pistons with 885 had result in 8.42:1 compression ratio.
I got a pragmatic question about an basic m20 rebuild I didn t already build it in ever so far in a suitable bmw (e28 e30 e34) Wasn t it necassary to rework the head bolts after a certain mileage of driving??????
serious question. I Just bought a m20 engine that supposedly had 80000miles on the block and 15000 on the head for 300$. I bought this to replace the m10 in my bmw e21. I bought the setup and the previous owner said that it is a 2.7 block with a 885 head. I was able to confirm the head was indeed an 885 via stampings as for the block im at a total loss. I figured that if it is a regular eta 2.7 block that the 885head would totally kill the compression so i would like to believe that the block is a "seta" but the intake is also native to the 885 head so i see no tell tale signs of it being one or the other any suggestions. Thanks
I’ve been down that road... you need the 885 (I) head, intake manifold, throttle body, all of the 2.5 pulleys, the bracket for the crank sensor, cranks sensor and the 2.5 harness/dme
So vast majority m20 strokers are low comp builds? What’s the CR if 2.7 rotating assembly is used with 2.5 head? For high CR stroker build is best to start off with m20b25, install b27 crank and rods. Machine b25 pistons to fit?
What thickness head gasket did you use? Any additional machining on the pistons? Because I have video of me using both of these combinations and showing why they don't work and testing interference fits with the head on both setups.
DBO my apologies as i panicked and stopped watching the video in the beginning. I asked around some friends of mine who run the same setup and also said they have no problems, one mentioned apparently thats how the alpina engine is made. Answering your question, I had a machine shop clean and build the bottom end for me. They never mentioned any extra work they did other than just cleaning the block and putting 325i pistons on the 325e connecting rods. My block is also a 325e block, not sure if that makes a difference. You also did mention you machined the block to the lowest you possibly could, did you test fit the setup before you did that? I dont take it as shade and please dont take my previous comment as shade either. Im genuinely interested as well
Also to note, its on a 325e crank and 885 cylinder head. I decked the head and had valve stem seals done but thats pretty much it. I also have a Goetez head gasket
It functions well, has good range, plenty of features. I'm a fan. Only beef to speak of would lie in the electric interface but that would be splitting hairs if I'm honest
I was looking and I have 2 ecus. One is a Motronic 1.1 from a 1987 325i. The second is a 0261 200 172 from a 320i. Could either of these be used or be chipped to run a stroker?
so i have a 2.7 block with stock internals and i want to throw on a 2.5 head i want to boost it but ive heard that i need to change the cam on the head is this true ?
Thanks for the video..always learning and I liked that you included the necessary details where needed and left out what wasn't. I really liked the plastic bag test for interference that you did. I am currently in the process of building a 2.7 but I'm using 9.4:1 European dish top 84.5mm pistons and decked the block 2mm to boost it up. it should in theory put me over 10.2: 1 compression. I'll be using a Schrick 284/272 duel pattern cam and although it isn't necessary from my sources will use an adjustable cam gear. I hear the schrick cams are a tad retarded in timing. This will be paired with a stage 2 sssquid tune, headers, supersprint exhaust. I'll be using stock head bolts and gasket. Can you share how you did the port match machining with the intake manifold? Is there anything I might be missing that you can elaborate on please? thank you and look forward to your other vids.

Will won’t say this, but the corvette is slowly dying
Negative! It needs an ignition switch and it got hit by an Uber. She's mint!
I thought the 2.7es had special pistons that raised the compression because the 2.7 is 200cc's bigger than the 2.5. ?
the b27 actually has the highest compression of the US m20s at 9.0:1, but it is because of the small combustion chambers in the 200 head. all b27s have the same pistons besides the super eta. b27 pistons with 885 had result in 8.42:1 compression ratio.
Pretty cool video. Been running my SETA stroker for almost a year and its definitely fun. What part of texas are yall located?
Crockett
Hey how much you will take for build for me same thing as you did in first and second part, I have engines 1987 325/325e e30 and 1984 325e e30
Message me on Instagram. @mile_high_euros
Does having the stock m20 oil cooler make a difference? The early model 325e didnt come with them. Was just wondering,
Sick videos brotha wrench on
Yes it definitely helps with keeping oil temps down and slightly increases oil capacity.
Finally
What's your opinion of a 325i b20 stroker? I'm an e30 owner myself. . .
I got a pragmatic question about an basic m20 rebuild
I didn t already build it in ever so far in a suitable bmw (e28 e30 e34)
Wasn t it necassary to rework the head bolts after a certain mileage of driving??????
serious question. Thanks
Now im really curious what a super eta instead of a regular eta does on a dyno run.......🙁🤔🤔 but thats just me....
Why not swap to the M30B35?
So basically if I want to boost my 2.7 all I need is the I head, arp studs, and some seals? Do I need the i electronics and harness?
I’ve been down that road... you need the 885 (I) head, intake manifold, throttle body, all of the 2.5 pulleys, the bracket for the crank sensor, cranks sensor and the 2.5 harness/dme
So vast majority m20 strokers are low comp builds? What’s the CR if 2.7 rotating assembly is used with 2.5 head?
For high CR stroker build is best to start off with m20b25, install b27 crank and rods. Machine b25 pistons to fit?
He claims that you cant run a 2.5 piston with a 325e con rod and 325e crank, im running that setup and it runs just fine
What thickness head gasket did you use? Any additional machining on the pistons? Because I have video of me using both of these combinations and showing why they don't work and testing interference fits with the head on both setups.
Not trying to throw shade. Genuinely interested in what you did to make it work with no machining..etc.
Hey guys I love the videos.
But you promised a wiring harness video
to complete 2.7 block with 325i top end
in a early model car . . .
Transmission automatique is soo good the cars one big turbo the 2L7 the casch days is numbers one the transmithon automatique the série 7
How do you guys like that kobalt torque wrench? I'm wanting to get something reliable for my m30 turbo build.
It functions well, has good range, plenty of features. I'm a fan. Only beef to speak of would lie in the electric interface but that would be splitting hairs if I'm honest
@@DENVERBEERANDOIL when's the m30 head rebuild video coming? Ha
Hey Will, can I use 2.5 facelift pistons with a M52B28 crank? If so, does it require machining the skirts?
What compression ratio do you get if you just out the 2.5 head on the 2.7 block and bottom end?
Suppose if it's low just go turbo
Cuantos caballos puedo conseguir con el motor original
Ho the motors is the for sale please seur
I was looking and I have 2 ecus. One is a Motronic 1.1 from a 1987 325i. The second is a 0261 200 172 from a 320i. Could either of these be used or be chipped to run a stroker?
so i have a 2.7 block with stock internals and i want to throw on a 2.5 head i want to boost it but ive heard that i need to change the cam on the head is this true ?
Not even remotely. 2.5 cam is completely fine for that application.
So what’s the stroker part?
Thats what I am confused about. Its just a Seta?
I ve had it!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪👍
Thanks for the video..always learning and I liked that you included the necessary details where needed and left out what wasn't.
Hi sir just wanna know how to convert bmw e30 2.5 to 2.9 may you please assist thank you
Please one troc the e34 M5 one e30 325 i is the terrain in france the valeur is terrain is 80 mil euro just one
Look you tub one e30 motors e34 turbo is Roumanie the cars is the avion
I still don t get 1 point
Im going to buy a bmw 525 i
So from Eta to super eta you need a stock 525 i motor
And a 325 engine to assembly it togheter to an (super eta)
Nicely way of forcing a 2.5 piston with the disired webb forms....🤣🤣🤣🤪
I do find these videos interesting, but the information is making me think I may just be better off doing a 24v swap haha.
The frenchy is one e30 for sale is m'y bb cars please just one 325 toue porta
Ist ja wunderschön zu sehen wie die amerikaner an deutsche sachen herum schlusseln....🤣🤣🤣👍
Is will going to make more videos when he gets out of prison?
Will quit doing car stuff.
@@DENVERBEERANDOIL what a shame for someone with so much talent!

At least some people who have some knowledge....if everything was exchangeble....bmw wouldn t have made different motortypes.....
Why do you call it an E.T.A. ? Eta is a word meaning thermal efficiency.
But be carefull with the heads when you re motor is still cold
Especially for young people who just got an bmw m20 in thier car
And trust me
I know what im talking about
Been there
Done that
And did really pain in the wallet...🥴🥴🤣🤣
