This movie hit hard. It came out in the autumn of 2002. The UK government were laying foundations for joining in Dubya's war and there was *a lot* of scary stuff in the media about biological agents, 45 minute missiles, and giving health workers extra vaccine shots. I saw it in the cinema a few weeks after it came out so it was _near empty_ which really added to the atmosphere.
I also happened to live about half way between Jim's parents and the tunnel under the river Thames they drive through. It felt a lot more real than any of the Romero zombie films - instead of firearms, helicopters, and miltary bunkers there were tower blocks, taxis and a Budgens.
So excited you got to do this movie because it’s one of my favorites and because I never thought you would be able to see your reaction and how you like it! Have a beautiful day!!
I approve 👍
Appreciated
Clothes basket is 2 maybe 3 times wider than a 10 gallon bucket so catches 2-3 times more water and 3 or 4 inches before the holes start . It could rain all night and not reach the holes . Solid rain bucket in my opinion
I always wondered about Corp. Jones.
The smallest soldier, in the kitchen, wearing an apron, the first to want to end themselves...
What were they all doing whilst waiing for a future?
- Released in 2002; directed by Danny Boyle; written by Alex Garland.
- In order to keep the suspension of disbelief, Danny Boyle cast largely unknown actors. This is considered the breakout role for both Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris. In fact, Cillian Murphy was given the role of Scarecrow in Batman Begins because of this movie.
- Danny Boyle had previously directed an adaptation of Alex Garland's novel "The Beach," starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
- Due to budget constraints, and difficulties finding a major studio in the beginning, Christopher Eccleston (Major West) took a significant pay cut.
- A Canon XL 1 digital camera was used for many of the shorter shots, which was smaller and easier to maneuver than many film cameras of the time.
- 28 Days Later is seen as reviving the "zombie movie" genre.
- A sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was released in 2007, and a third film, 28 Years Later, is set to be released on June 20 of this year.
Christopher Eccleston who played Major Henry West also played Matt Jamison in “The Leftovers.” I didn’t realize he was in this movie. I highly recommend The Leftovers. Hardly anyone has reacted to it. It’s always at the top of people’s rankings of HBO series. I remember watching it thinking it was about the rapture but it was so much more.
Fantastic movie. Of course the beginning reminds of The Walking Dead series, but which came later of course. Even the comic books which it's based on started a year after this movie here. And what a great movie this one here is. I remember watching it in cinema. A very tense horror-thriller, really had me on the edge. Several nods to other Zombie movies (even though it's a rage-virus here and never stated as Zombies). And a heartbreaking role for the ever-great Brendan Gleeson. Also the rest of the cast besides Murphy. There's also Eccleston and Harris. All big names now. There's an alternative ending, which was on the DVD - can be found on YT along with several other variations of scenes.
I still remember watching this movie and the shock I felt when the infected sprinted.
Not a US Movie…….enjoy anyway 🤩
I bet ur fun at parties
@@Coggers-ww1zz literally me 😂
Wow, I just rewatched this movie again for the first time in years just a few days ago. Today I checked out your The Village video and loved what you thought about it so I subbed, and just saw that you uploaded 28 Days Later, another banger. I absolutely love the cinematography and yeah bad film quality but it makes it feel so much more immersive compared to a lot of other huge bidget movies with the best cameras available. It is over 20 years old now but even my android phone has better film quality than that, but it works. I wish other film makers would experiement more like that.
March Marvel Madness!! Woohoo!!!
What first gave you the bad feeling about the soldiers? Was it just the Tom foolery 😂 I had a bad feeling but I couldn’t place it the first time I saw it in theaters, but then over various rewatches over the years have picked up on clues , so I was wondering what was your clue?
One of my favorite movies. Wish we had more films like it. I am a big zombie movie fan, but, according to the creators, the infected aren't actually zombies in the movie, even so, it hits all the notes of a zombie apocalypse film so well. The extra features for this film are amazing.
Blood is 50% water.
But also the zombies get very few people to actually consume; since bite victims turn so fast and they don’t seem to eat each other.
Because they aren't zombies.
Can't wait to see you watch _28 Weeks Later._
OK, now you're ready for the series _The Walking Dead._
Best movie of its kind, ever made. A genuine masterpiece of filmmaking.
If you mean zombie movies (which they aren't) then no, it's not better than Dawn of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead or Zombie Flesh Eaters.
I love your always intelligent and insightful reactions!! I hope you aren't distressed by the people who complain about nothing; they're just unhappy in their own lives. I hope you react to the TV series The Walking Dead; you will be hooked quickly, I promise!!
Jim the bike courier turns savage hero when those he cares about are endangered. As with many of these apocalyptic movies, the living often end up being worse than the infected and have to be fought off and killed.
I think that is the moral to a lot of zombie movies, and its kinda why the science behind the infection is a moot point. I kinda like it when zombie movies don't try to focus too hard on the why and focus more on "what do we do now" and the choices people make when forced to fight for their lives.
JAMES… 🙋🏻♀️ So I’ve never seen this movie. However, there is a movie with SANDRA BULLOCK and ELIZABETH PERKINS, called 28 DAYS…. you will enjoy it because SANDRA is Great, and movie has its moments (all good)…. oh DIANE LADD is also in this one… she’s the mother of Laura Dern Laura Dern is the female scientists in the movie Jurassic Park if you’ve ever seen that movie. 👍👍👍
Hello James, best zombie film ever made.
No way. Its not better than Dawn of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead or Zombie Flesh Eaters.
Came here hoping for book recommendations! Always dope to see what books he'd recommend based on the movie.
So excited for March!! Brill🎉🎉🎉
A vacant hospital is a perfect place to shelter and an ambulance is the best vehicle. But it's drama over rationality in zombie movies.
No, not "EUROS" - the British always kept their "BRITISH POUND". ;-) (especially now, because they aren't in the EU anymore)
The sequel from 2007, "28 WEEKS LATER" is also worth watching, And in 2025 the first of two sequel movies "28 YEARS LATER" will finally be released. Can't wait to see it!
Pretty sure if some of the infected were eating people, they wouldn’t simply starve to death in the timeframe that someone with no nourishment would. Human bodies contain both meat and liquid. Even a certain percentage of water.
Also, the majority of the infected had already died off in this film. Only a small portion of them were still alive. Probably the ones eating people. That’s why you saw dead ones everywhere but only a few would spring up and start attacking.
And regarding other movies with actual zombies - zombies can’t just die off because they’re already dead. They’re literally called the undead and they don’t need food and water to survive, so the whole argument of “zombies would starve in two weeks” doesn’t make any sense regarding zombie lore/mythology (which dates back to the 17th century).
February and March are going to be fun! Can’t wait to see your reaction!
Just so you know, they are not zombies they are infected, which is why bullets kill them and why they get tired, starve, they also can speak too. Also, it's how she knew jim was not infected as his big blue eyes were not red like an infected person's would be. But people always say it's a zombie movie, but it's not.
While I understand why there are distinctions, I would absolutely consider this a subgenre of zombie movies. It certainly shares a lot more of the themes of classic undead zombies than some other "true" undead zombies.
Sadly the water 'boilers' are largely being replaced in UK homes.... Why keep a big mass of a water tank in your tiny home, when you can use a combie boiler hooked straight up to the mains?
Though in a residential block the size of frank and hannahs, there would have been plenty of filled loo cisterns to scavenge from

I cannot wait for Marvel! ❤️💙
Thank you for the support
No logic in making an extra letter for Hello but still a great movie 😂
I think the soldiers were hiding out of site at the destination and waiting til one or both Jim and Frank were out of commission so that overcoming the women would be easier.
Do you recognize the lead actor from the Peaky Blinders series or the Oppenheimer movie? That’s Cillian Murphy.
Haven't seen that
This is a great movie! Great reaction! Looking forward to Marvel Marxh!
If you want a fun zombie movie to go into blind I would recommend the Japanese film One Cut of the Dead.
Marvel Madness!!!
I don't see you enjoying this movie... but we will see.

i have a polyamorous maybe trans sibling; i call him 28yrs later... he truly was a different animal 30yr ago.
Oh bummer, I thought you were watching 28 Days with Sandra Bullock.
Nope. Besides that movie doesn't exist. 😂 In it's defense though, the only thing that makes it worth watching with one eye open is that Sandra Bullock is in it.
they are not zombies because the infected is not dead but alive not like the walking dead they are zombies
Oh wow you’re finally getting to Marvel and Game of Thrones!!? Get ready to be bombarded with a lot of opinionated comments!!
Love this film, but realisitically the infected would die in days, if not hours of dehydrating with all the fluids they're spewing
Oh just realised you said that as well
Not a US movie. Other countries exist you know.
So, march is going to suck.
UK gun club, you have to have a safe. locks n tax out the ass n pay membership fee store keep away from your self.
Maybe it’s just me, but I hate the edit of a reaction to a big part ruined at the start of a video with 0 context. I understand movie trailers doing that for people who click off of the ad before the full trailer so they can still see the gist. But for a TH-cam video that I’m about to intentionally watch anyway, feels like not just a waste of time (since I’m about to see it again anyway) but a spoiler of your reaction to the movie. Makes me want to click off.. just some feedback, but I may have to unsubscribe if it keeps going because I find it very annoying.
Conceptually not much difference between that and a TL:DR. at the head of an article. Just saying.
Appreciate the feedback, just something we're trying out
@@AwesomeUSMoviesi don’t think you need to change anything for this one person, we can’t please everyone
While Being on the internet,
you are gonna get something you can’t control like the most very petty comments out there like
“i will unsubscribe because you ate a apple and i hate apples”
your reactions to these films in exploring are great 😊 you express your amazement and interest as much as kids are very amazed in theme parks by seeing something magical
I love that you mostly read books in your life, not many people you see read books anymore
I collect all kinds of books so don’t let anything change that ❤
