Peter, You never disappoint. It is almost unbelievable that you do as well as you do on the western side but it is a testament to your skill and determination. It is also a good sign of the health of this fishery with the variety of species, even in brackish water conditions. Greetings from Gio, Western Long Island sound.
Gio, I appreciate that, I mean its def not always working out but seems this season has been all abo-ut the bait for me, once I find it I usually will find something lurking around. I agree the fishery seems really good to me, especially when you see all the different species around the same areas. Even recently I found some action in the bay, its a great time to be fishing our waters!
Nice ones bro . Hooked up with big weakfish 3 days ago on a fishing pier I couldn't really left it up it was so big . Wondering if there is any size for them ?
awesome man, yea i notice where you fish theres a really high wall, tough to get heavy fish over that and the rocks under it. almost need a pier net maybe or long crabbing type net. The weakfish have to be minimum 16" and you can keep 1 per day. Def give one a try if you get a keeper, its not my favorite but its a good fish for sure.

Typically by late August, the fluke bite is winding down here, as the dogfish have begun moving in. By Labor Day, the boats are preparing for the switchover to cod season.
same here Josh, august is not the best month for fluke, sometimes it'll pick up in September but yeah most people by then are looking for the fall run fish
