What is so great about this guy is the simplicity. A great kayak, bait pole, 2 fishing poles, a water bottle, fish finder and basic safety gear. You watch other kayak channels and their kayak looks like it barely floats with all the coolers, poles, electronics, etc…
It’s a small club who I like before watching, or even click on and like with the knowledge I don’t have the time to watch-like some of the missed livestreams, but Rod is in that club.
Go to the Chiropractor Rod! I promise it is fantastic to get the sciatic nerve to release, and go back to feeling normal. Spinal alignment is key to little to no pain as you age.
i wish we could watch you cook the snapper for dinner. those videos are so great, watching you catch the fish then take it home and make it for the family.
Loved the video as usual. I have multiple things wrong with my back. After fusion surgery for a disintegrated disc I did everything the doctors said to no avail. But what really saved me was riding a bicycle. Within 2 weeks I was 75 percent to normal. Ride a bike and thank me later.
Thanks mate, yes I can see how that would help. Funny thing was I actually felt much better after the paddle on the kayak that day too. Might see if it helps👌
@@rokkitkit Kayaking really engages your core muscles, what can pull your (vertebrae) joints back to its right place. Drink heaps of water also helps, as your discs are sponges made of 90% water ;)
Great vid, as usual Rod. With the sciatica, unless it fixes itself, best get a scan and see a specialist doctor. I slipped a disc 30 years ago and it cost me nearly a year getting it fixed. Wish I'd done more to see a specialist sooner. Happy healing and tight lines matey!
Yes I didn't listen to my back and I've been in the bed since late June I'm just now starting to get around with a back brace and a walker it really sucks not good enough to make it to the doctor yet.
Great vid Rod 👍 Sciatica can come from an old injury My wife had it that bad they did a 4” cut along her spine & shaved her spine , up walking that day with no pain since 🤙🏼
I've had lower back pain for many years. Reverse hyper machine and strengthening my core has finally cured my lower back pain. I highly recommend you get a reverse hyper machine. Plenty of videos on TH-cam about using the reverse hyper machine for lower back pain.
Love the uploads, hope ur back gets right asap, can't wait for the weather to warm up little more so I can take the yak out for a paddle and drop a line, cheers from tassie 🍻
Yep Persistence does pay off ,good days fishing topped off with a nice Snapper, Best I have caught in SA at the Cape was 1.125mt 15.8 kg in 1988 along time ago.Catch you on the next one. Cheers Wombat 🐾🎣👍👍🦈🛶
some great catches there Rod, nice job releasing that beautiful Maori cod as well. better safe than sorry when fisheries goes through your stuff at the ramp haha. Btw I'd try some of those pomfrets, they make great bait cheers 👌👌
I've been suffering with sciatica for years now too. The best thing that helps me is stretching. Idk why but it's crazy how much it helps me. Great video as usual
I’ve gone through the same sort of injury. It can really be disheartening and puts a damper of doing anything at full speed. Understand the pain you’re going through, mine was improved through surgery. If things continue don’t be afraid to seek medical attention, my quality of life has greatly increased! Wishing you the best, thanks for the vids Rod!
Been dealing with sciatica for years now myself. Mine stems from a herniated disc in my back and I get recurring episodes every now and then. If yours persists then you should look into seeing a specialist sooner rather than later to see if there is an underlying issue causing the nerve pain. Trust me, I wish I had seen a doctor about it sooner but I waited until I had a really bad episode that required an ER trip
Rod, I have a tip for your back pain. Lay flat on your back and lift your knees where your thighs are at a 45 degree angle to your torso and your feet are off the surface below you. Place the palms of your hands on the tops of your thighs where they bend at your hips. Push down and hold. You will feel your lower back stretch. Do this in the mornings before getting up and any other time you have pain. This stretch has helped me tremendously. ...Also when you are doing this stretch slightly rotate your hips side to side. I have found that to help as well.
Good advice. Basically any exercise that strengthens muscles around the lower spine. That keeps those disks where they belong. I bet 99% of people with sciatica lack muscles in that area. Consequence of modern life. MR pictures show this perfectly. As you move from upper region of spine to lower, tissue gets whiter an whiter (fat). It should be dark(muscles). Cheers
Hey Rod!! You got to make your way to Florida right now the Mullet Run is going off on the East Coast and we are crushing the tarpon chasing the mullet schools! You want to give that kayak of yours a good ride latching into 100 lb Plus Tarpon will do it. I'm still waiting for my payoff for my persistence as I have gone all summer long without a keeper fish to bring home for dinner
Hello from the UK! Great video Rod, that snapper will make a delicious meal for the family. Best thing I can advice for the sciatica is regular exercise you, will be amazed at the difference.
Wow what an awesome catch in the end buddy, would love to see how u bait up the yellowtails on those hooks you use Rod, thanks for keeping us entertained 👍
Must be the season for sciatica! Just been cooked with that for a few days myself. Cracking pink breambo. No legal size on maoris in NSW either just quietly- that thing looked delicious to me 🤣
Yea I only just realized I wasn’t in Queensland when editing, could have totally kept the cod😢😅 yea the sciatica is not much fun at all, was definitely struggling for a few days there.
We got out pretty early this morning in the Monterey Bay area for some fishing, there was bait everywhere (Jack smelt), and we caught quite a bit of good bait and some good eating calico cod but the overall fishing was very slow. I saw some big Ling cod caught and heard over the radio a few large halibut were caught but we only ended up catching enough smaller calico cod for a good taco dinner
Have sciatic like condition myself, best to have it properly diagnosed asap, there are delays in having operations if necessary, check possible aggravating factors like lifting heavy objects, plus there are certain exercises to relieve etc, cheers.
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👋👍♥️🌲🌲🧘♀️🌲🌲☕😉🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Sorry to hear of your sciatica...I had difficulty with it after a MVA..(1993)...tried everything. Things that seemed to work for me ..yoga, acupuncture massage, stretching. Still visits me occasionally to remind me I'm alive but gets pretty tedious.😉
Sorry for your pain, best wishes for your recovery ,but it's generally a long time, your fit it maybe easier, great vids as usual ❤️ to your young family, and get some shoes 😜 hehe
Hey mate. I'm with you on the sciatica. It sucks. My NP told me once you start having bouts of it, it never completely goes away. Take care. Wish you great fishing.
I forgot to mention I was binge watching some of your older videos before I went for surgery(like at the hospital)and it totally relaxed me. Rod, as always your channel never disappoints. Appreciate all the hard work. All your success is very well deserved. Really hope your condition improves. I am heading back into the hospital a second time in as many weeks for another surgery. I know there is only one thing I will do before surgery...watch your channel.
Sorry to hear about your sciatica. As was said elsewhere, seeing a specialist might be a good idea. BTW, that snapper was big enough that you could have just let it tow you back to shore. How's that for a "fish story"?
Sorry about the sciatic pains: I got these from a combo of 1) playing amateur football ⚽️ & 2) sitting a ton for my doctoral work. The 2-3 year result was a lot of stretches (recommended from sports physios) and laying on my back with legs up on the ottoman… I didn’t change my routine of football but the end/graduation of doctorate at least ended. I sit a lot lot less in the past 4 years after my schooling ended. So with all that said, have you been seated a lot recently? (Yes, as a 37-40 year old during the sciatic pains, I realize I also dealt with aging issues physically.)
Had those issues with my back before. Went to the gym and they have these pull down machines that will stretch your spine and that fix my back. That's the only time I use the gym to fix or stretch my spine.
Welcome back Rod. Sorry to hear about your sciatica. I reckon I’ve got about 5 years on you and I’m in the midst of a set of problems from an active life on top of some underlying issues-including some nasty nerve stuff flared up from some bone carpentry surgery. It can be a rough game in middle age and dealing with components wearing out and complicated shit like nerve pain-we take so much for granted in our youth. All the best fella-make sure you don’t ignore this stuff, get proactive and spend good money to see good people and get the tools to stay on top of it, in the end you have to be your own ‘doctor’ and advocate and listen to your body, don’t accept bullshit from health care providers who pass the buck, and really take charge of this stuff because unfortunately the future for most of us includes more of this sort of body component issues, and there are things you can do to improve them. On the way to 500k subs-hope your channel gets a blow-up soon. You surely deserve it.
Whichever leg hurts you, find a wall that will work and then lift your non hurt leg into the wall to a 90* and then press all your weight into the leg that's into the 90*. *=degrees
Great video I have the same back pain as you have I've had 2 injections in the last year, I get numbness pain and needles in my legs when I'm sitting in my kayak.
Sciatica is the worst man good work getting in the mood. Not the best feeling in pain but hope the moving around takes the pressure off the nerves. Need to get out myself and drop some livies. Been busy fishing getting used to the upgraded ski I was telling u about. Love the new slikness and responsive feel of the fsha 500. Always love your kayaking vids!!! Keep up the amazing job mate legend🤙
What is so great about this guy is the simplicity. A great kayak, bait pole, 2 fishing poles, a water bottle, fish finder and basic safety gear. You watch other kayak channels and their kayak looks like it barely floats with all the coolers, poles, electronics, etc…
The moment when you like a video even before watching🤣😎
U already know!
Yup! 🤣
It’s a small club who I like before watching, or even click on and like with the knowledge I don’t have the time to watch-like some of the missed livestreams, but Rod is in that club.
I can relate..lol
Same!!!
Go to the Chiropractor Rod! I promise it is fantastic to get the sciatic nerve to release, and go back to feeling normal. Spinal alignment is key to little to no pain as you age.
Been sick for the last 4 days, thanks for brightening my day Rod. Really means a lot.
Cheers for watching mate, hope you’re on the mend 👍
Love the old-school kayak vids, Rod!
i wish we could watch you cook the snapper for dinner. those videos are so great, watching you catch the fish then take it home and make it for the family.
You should take your sailboat to those islands.
Eventually 👍
Loved the video as usual. I have multiple things wrong with my back. After fusion surgery for a disintegrated disc I did everything the doctors said to no avail. But what really saved me was riding a bicycle. Within 2 weeks I was 75 percent to normal. Ride a bike and thank me later.

Nice fish Rod, yummy eating.
This is what I most really like on your videos the kayak fishing 🎣
What a stonker of a snap!!! Well done all the hrs was worth wile !! Beautiful fish love your work. Mad feed for the family!!🤙
I’m glad you still kayak once and then. That is what brought me here originally years ago and it still excites me when I see a new video.
Cracking Snapper Rod, you worked hard for it, good work.
I miss your kayak videos. Chase the views but don't forget the kayakers that love your work!
Same with me. 2 slipped discs. Accupuncture was a lifesaver and fixes the pain quick. But it always reoccurs every 6 months.
Yes I didn't listen to my back and I've been in the bed since late June I'm just now starting to get around with a back brace and a walker it really sucks not good enough to make it to the doctor yet.
That is a nice and tasty snapper, Rod. Congratulations
I'm moving to Nova Scotia and I've absolutely got to learn how to fish like this.
Also hope your pain eases up, believe or not core stomach exercises is what helps me a lot.
Great vid Rod 👍
Sciatica can come from an old injury

Just sat down to eat dinner, what perfect video to watch!
Gotta love all off your videos man! Watching from Japan!
Love the uploads, hope ur back gets right asap, can't wait for the weather to warm up little more so I can take the yak out for a paddle and drop a line, cheers from tassie 🍻
Yay, perfect timing indeed.
Perfect Video for my morning coffee, thank you for producing continously🙏🏻
in the beginning of the video from 35-44 seconds on a loop with lofi on. magical
Been watching for quite a long time , now I’ve moved from Zimbabwe to Brisbane I might finally get to do some of what you do .
Yep Persistence does pay off ,good days fishing topped off with a nice Snapper, Best I have caught in SA at the Cape was 1.125mt 15.8 kg in 1988 along time ago.Catch you on the next one.

Beautiful Snapper Rod I'll bet the family will be happy to chow down on that beast
Thank you Rod, for your continued endeavors - you're a legend, mate.
I love your kayak videos. That's what made me subscribe in the first place. Much love brother
some great catches there Rod, nice job releasing that beautiful Maori cod as well. better safe than sorry when fisheries goes through your stuff at the ramp haha. Btw I'd try some of those pomfrets, they make great bait cheers 👌👌
I've been suffering with sciatica for years now too. The best thing that helps me is stretching. Idk why but it's crazy how much it helps me. Great video as usual
This is my favorite channel. Hope your back heals up!

Simple hot water bottle sometimes does trick to relax nerves, Rock on mate
I love your videos, i wish i have a kayak like yours, watching here from the Philippines
Enjoyed this video. Always exciting to see hook ups regardless of the species!
Deadly fish. Enjoy every bit of it, you earned it!
I personally think you’re crazy going in that water in a kayak, but I’ll gladly enjoy watching you do it!

You might try doing MacKenzie Exercises.
Good fish Rod, that is a chunker and Im sure it will be delicious. Nice to see some yak vids again.

Congrats on the sciatica nerve pain! i love eating donuts and watching you fish
Must be the season for sciatica! Just been cooked with that for a few days myself.

Yea I only just realized I wasn’t in Queensland when editing, could have totally kept the cod😢😅 yea the sciatica is not much fun at all, was definitely struggling for a few days there.

Hey mate. I'm with you on the sciatica. It sucks. My NP told me once you start having bouts of it, it never completely goes away. Take care. Wish you great fishing.
Yeah it can be crippling for sure.
Another cool video always enjoy the content never disappointed. Have a goodnight and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
I had Sciatica and it sucks. I had to go to a chiropractor for a few months and it went away. I hope you get better Rod. Cheers from Navajo Nation.
Beautiful snapper Rod.
Sciaticas been hitting me hard the past few days as well. Hope for a speedy recovery for you!
Another quality vid rod. Love to see u come to the northern rivers and fish around ballina évans head,
Trigger point injections can help depending on your issues. It got me by for a time when I was in my 40's.

Thanks for the video. As for sciatica, try McKenzie Exercises. They really worked for me (70 yr old+), and I do them for "maintenance," as well.

Persistence pays off 💪🏻
Great vid as usual🙂 chiropractor sorted my sciatica, good luck 👍
Rod, I've had the same thing happen me and my mom suffer from it but I found something that works for me and my mom!
